00:29of the H3N2 superflu virus.
00:37And Israeli occupation forces killed at least five Palestinians in new attacks on schools,
00:43sheltering displaced civilians in the Gaza Strip.
00:51Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:52I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:56We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:11On the Post-Electoral Crisis in Honduras is deepening as Congress threatens to take over the presidential
01:17vote count amid growing delays and demands for recounts.
01:20Honduras National Congress will assume control of the general election vote count if the
01:26country's electoral body fails to declare a final winner by December 30th.
01:32The Legislature's Permanent Commission states its decision is backed by the Constitution and
01:37promises a full vote-by-vote recount to ensure transparency.
01:42This ultimatum comes as the Liberal Party candidate demands a recount of over 8,000 tally sheets
01:49for the complicating the official announcement of the results.
01:59And we stay in Honduras.
01:59The Public Ministry has begun investigations into irregularities that occurred during the
02:04general elections on November 30th.
02:06The Public Prosecutor's Office reported that the investigations are focused on the use
02:11of the biometric fingerprint device and issues with the transmission of preliminary election
02:17results .
02:18Additionally, they are investigating zeroed records of those that were retained in the system.
02:25And also delays in the vote count and inconsistencies in the records have raised concerns about possible
02:31manipulations as well.
02:33The Prosecutor's Office is also examining the influence of messages and audios that could
02:38have impacted the electoral process in order to ensure that the people's will is respected.
02:51In this context, the United States Government has restricted the visas of the President of the
02:56Honduran Parliament, Luis Redondo, the Magistrate of the Electoral Court, Mario Morazán, and the
03:02advisor to the highest electoral body of the South American country, Marlon Ochoa, as part
03:07of its escalating interference in the Honduran elections.
03:11U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused officials of interfering in the vote counting
03:17process for the elections held on November 30th.
03:20In this regard, the President of the Honduran legislative body condemned the decision of the U.S. State
03:27Department and also demanded an end to interference, pressure, and conditionality.
03:33For her part, Honduran President Xiomara Castro has repeatedly denounced that Washington had
03:39undermined the right of Honduran to elect democratically, referring to unprecedented pressure and threats.
03:54In other news, on Friday, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil responded to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio
04:00describing his administration as a resounding political and moral failure.
04:05In a message on his Telegram account, the Foreign Minister stated that after 14 years as a senator and one year at the helm of the State Department,
04:14Rubio has achieved no diplomatic success.
04:17He also pointed out that Rubio has specified in promoting coups, interventions, and wars,
04:24instead of seeking diplomatic solutions.
04:27The head of the Venezuelan Diplomacy also denounced that the attacks and disinformation campaigns against Venezuela
04:32are part of a U.S. economic strategy aimed at taking over his country's resources.
04:39He reiterated his rejection of the use of wars for extractive purposes and military intervention to exploit the region's energy resources.
04:57The United Nations Security Council announced an emergency session for December 23 to address the crisis in Venezuela,
05:04steaming from continued aggressions by the United States.
05:07The crux of the complaint is the recent blockade of oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela,
05:13the measure that the Bolivarian government considers a direct violation of its sovereignty and political autonomy.
05:20Faced with this scenario, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made an urgent call for calm.
05:27He urges all parties to respect international law and the United Nations Charter to avoid an escalation of tensions and protect peace in the region.
05:37The Bolivarian nation has not reported any violation of international law in this context and caused by the government of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
05:47Also, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on the United States to respect the sovereignty of the Caribbean countries,
06:00the territorial waters near Venezuela and international law.
06:04At a press conference, the head of the international organization described the current situation as very tense and complicated.
06:11For almost four months, the United States has maintained a significant military presence in the Caribbean,
06:18much of it off Venezuela's coast, under the excuse of the fight against drug trafficking,
06:23which the President of the United States himself dismissed when he declared that the objective was to obtain all of Venezuela's natural resources.
06:32At the end of his statement, Guterres emphasized the efforts made by the United Nations to demand a de-escalation of the U.S. siege in the South American nation and a peaceful solution to the conflict.
06:52Now a change of topic.
06:53The Central Workers Union of Argentina called for a meeting to condemn U.S. aggressions against Venezuela.
06:58Various social organizations, union leaders, human rights defenders and Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Pérez Esquivel attended this event.
07:07Our colleague Fabián Restribo was there and is sharing all the details.
07:15The Central Workers Union of Argentina called for an urgent rally in response to U.S. aggressions against Venezuela.
07:20Prominent Argentine leaders attended, surrounding and listening attentively to Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo Pérez Esquivel.
07:27These direct attacks on ships that disagree with them, the death of innocent people, are crimes that must be denounced.
07:38We must take this to the International Criminal Court so that Trump is judged as a criminal against the peoples of the world.
07:48Not just against Venezuela, but against the peoples of the world.
07:57Ariel Basteiro, former Argentine ambassador to Bolivia, speaks from his expertise.
08:03As a diplomat, I am surprised by this position of Trump and the United States, overriding all legislations, all international agreements, and ignoring international bodies like the UN or the OAS.
08:20They are not respecting the rights and sovereignty of countries.
08:25We are in a different, new, and unfortunate stage in the world.
08:29And much of this is the responsibility of the United States, the Yankees, who believe they own.
08:36At least, what they call the backyard.
08:41The leader of the State Workers Association, Manuel Sueiro, was firm in his opinion.
08:48It is a criminal act.
08:49It is an attempt to strip the countries of the region, primarily of their democratic systems, but profoundly of their natural resources.
09:00We are living in an era of imperialism in its most bloodthirsty and abhorrent version.
09:05Atilio Boron, Argentine sociologist and former companion and noble causes, highlighted the initiative.
09:12A great presence of personalities from a multitude of social organizations, solidarity groups, trade unions, and political organizations, all in solidarity with the Venezuelan people, and the Venezuelan government, who are being subjected to an escalating aggression by imperialism.
09:32National Deputy Juan Marino presented a bill for all members of the Congress to take a stance.
09:39And Roberto Barrelo, General Secretary of the Argentine Teachers Union, shares his opinion on the matter.
09:45We cannot accept that the United States is carrying out the largest military build-up in the region in decades, with the most powerful warship in the world, the USS Gerald Ford, threatening us every day in the Caribbean Sea, and the 4th Fleet deployed in our region.
10:00We cannot remain silent. We cannot wait until the bombings start on the ground in Venezuela to voice our opinion.
10:07No to military intervention in Venezuela. We stand for the self-determination of peoples for peace and sovereignty, alongside Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo Perez Esquivel.
10:20No one missed the call which got our 200 institutions.
10:27We come to stay present and, most importantly, to repudiate Yankee interference and interventionism in Latin America, and especially in our beloved Venezuela.

10:52Welcome back to From the South, and we go to Uruguay. The health authorities have issued a warning about the possible arrival of the H3N2 Supercell.
11:10Superflu virus in the country. The Ministry of Health stated that it will bring forward the 2026 flu campaign to promote the administration of vaccines.
11:31According to the authorities, the campaign will give priority to pregnant women, children aged 65 years, and elderly adults.
11:41To date, the disease has been detected in 35 countries and is expected to reach Montevideo, given the flow of people visiting during the winter holidays.
11:50Meanwhile, in Guatemala, the Ministry of Health confirmed the first case of the H3N2 variant K influenza in a 24-year-old woman.
12:06In turn, the Ministry announced the launching of a vaccination campaign to protect citizens from the variant.
12:12The campaign will prioritise people over 60 years of age, children aged 6 to 35 months, pregnant women, and emergency service personnel.
12:22The authority also stated that the circulation of the case subscelaide had increased rapidly in Europe and several Asian countries,
12:31according to a significant proportion of analyzed influenza type H3N2 viruses.
12:38The rescue teams opened route for families trapped after a deadly flood in Bolivia, after the devastating flood of the Piraà River,
13:03which left at least 22 people dead and completely isolated the region of El Torno,
13:08military teams and volunteers managed to open temporary passage allowing humanitarian access.
13:14The sudden flood laden with rubble and rocks had raised roads and access routes, leaving many families isolated.
13:22Finally, with falling water levels, officials from the Governorate and the City Hall were able to reach the families and evacuate them to save areas.
13:31In other news, in Peru, United Nations experts warn of law that halts prosecution of pre-2002 crimes against humanity.
13:46The law establishes a statute of limitations for these crimes preventing the prosecution of acts committed during the internal armed conflict from 1980 to 2000, which left over 69,000 victims.
14:00Experts have described the measures as a dangerous setback in Peru's adherence to international obligations.
14:07Two weeks ago, the Constitutional court ratified the law rejecting constitutional challenges filed by the public ministry and other parties.
14:17In this context, United Nations rapporteurs reminded Lima that the prohibition of the statute of limitations for these crimes is an imperative norm of international law which takes precedence over domestic laws.

15:35According to health authorities, the attack took place at the Martyrs of Gaza School in the Al Tufa neighborhood, where numerous Palestinians were also wounded.
15:45The Palestinian civil defense stated that Tel Aviv army continues to violate international law by attacking educational facilities shelter in this place, the civilians.
15:55They called on the international community and United Nations institutions to protect these individuals.
16:01And gas systems as well ensure and ensure the safety of shelters and humanitarian personnel.
16:15And in Palestine, United Nations declares that more than 100,000 children aged six months to five years and 37,000 pregnant and lactating women will suffer from acute malnutrition by October 2026.
16:29The organization alerted that almost 80% of the population in Gaza faces food insecurity and that the declining living conditions in the enclave will be affected by health, epidemiological and climate crisis.
16:43Various experts warned that beyond the international organization's forecast, the consequences of poor nutrition could cause genetic deficiencies that could be transmitted for several generations.
16:56According to Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner General of the UNRWA, in order to put an end to the catastrophe, it is necessary to have the support of the international community, encourage the entry of large-scale supplies and increase the number of humanitarian workers.
17:21We stay in Palestine. At least six people were killed by Israeli genocidal troops after an attack on a school that serves as a shelter for numerous families in Gaza.
17:31The projectiles fired from a tank hit the school in the Tufa neighborhood where a wedding was also being celebrated with Palestinian families displaced in the building participating in this event.
17:43This has been the most recent attack occurring while high-ranking officials from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey were in the United States for talks on how to move forward with the next phase of the ceasefire.
17:55In other topics, at a press conference, the Russian Foreign Ministry referred to the new loan approved by the European Union for Ukraine and confirmed that this decision does not contribute to a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
18:14Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the interest-free loan estimated at around 90 billion euros only reinforces the European bloc's financial support for the government of the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
18:30The spokesperson indicated that the funds will come from the community budget and the cost of the support will be paid by European taxpayers.
18:39Zakharova also added that only the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia expressed their opposition to participating in the plan.
18:48At the same time, she reiterated Moscow's position on the freezing of Russian assets in the European Union, warning that any attempt to use or confiscate them would violate the principles of international law.
19:01And in other news as well, a set of supercritical carbon dioxide power generation units began commercial operations on Saturday in southwest of China's Genshu province,
19:16making the country a pioneer in the global commercialization of this technology.
19:21Supercritical carbon, also known as Shaotan 1, is a unique fluid state of carbon dioxide that can only be generated at a specific temperature and pressure.
19:32Scientists aim to take advantage of its high capacity for mutability between liquid and gaseous states to use it in energy conversion.
19:42By leveraging these properties, the new power generation units which capture waste heat from industrial processes achieve higher efficiency than conventional steam-based systems.
19:55According to Zhang Jiandong, Deputy Director of the Industrial Development Department at Dongfang Electric Corporation,
20:02the use of this volatile product represents a milestone in energy generation and could radically change the country's key sectors.
