A foul smell emanating from a house in Kampung Belau, Merbok, near Sungai Petani, led to the discovery of the bodies of three family members late Wednesday night (March 25).

Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan said the victims were identified as Zikri Abdul Rahman, 65, his wife Suraya Man, 53, and her son, Muhammad Shakir Zufayri Abdul Aziz, 29.

00:25Police received a report at around 12.30 a.m. from members of the public who had not seen the
00:31couple for three days and noticed a strong odour coming from the house.
00:35Officers forced their way in and found the bodies of the husband and wife in the kitchen while the 29
00:41-year-old was discovered on the upper floor.
00:44Initial investigations indicate the case is a homicide.
00:48The 29-year-old is believed to be the suspect, though he too was found dead at the scene, on
00:55the upper floor, covered in blood with cuts to the neck.
00:59It was reported that the couple's heads were severed, while the female victim's limbs appeared to have been removed, believed
01:05to be for disposal.
01:08Investigations suggest the incident occurred between Monday night and the time the bodies were discovered.
01:13Five witnesses have been called to assist in the investigation, and all bodies have been sent to Sultana Bahia Hospital
01:21for post-mortem examinations.
