00:16Welcome to the developer update for the Ethiopia Pack,
00:19the second DLC of the Civilization VI New Frontier Pass.
00:23We're here to introduce you to some of the pack's new game content.
00:26But first, for those of you who've purchased the New Frontier Pass,
00:30this update will also include our new leader personas for Teddy Roosevelt and Catherine de Medici.
00:37Teddy is an interesting historical figure,
00:39because on the one hand, he had an interesting definition of diplomacy,
00:43given his big stick philosophy.
00:45But on the other hand, he's also a staunch conservationist.
00:48Rough Rider Teddy shows him in all of his hard-charging New Frontier glory,
00:52and it's only this version of Teddy that unlocks the unique Rough Rider unit.
00:57His ability, the Roosevelt Corollary,
00:59still gives units additional combat strength on their home continent,
01:02but now also counts envoys sent to city-states that you have a trade route with as two envoys.
01:07Bull Moose Teddy uses Teddy's existing art
01:10and focuses on his passion for nature and high-appeal tiles.
01:14Meanwhile, our alternate Queen of France persona
01:17focuses on collecting as many copies of luxury resources as possible,
01:22and allows her to initiate the Court Festival project in any city with a theater square,
01:27which awards culture and tourism based on the number of excess copies
01:31of the luxury resources that France possesses.
01:34Now, the big themes of DLC2 are faith, diplomacy, and intrigue.
01:39The centerpiece of the pack is, of course, our new civilization, Ethiopia.
01:44Its unique ability grants extra faith from international trade routes
01:48and gives you new things to do with that faith to help you claim a culture victory.
01:53We'll be dropping Ethiopia's first look later this month,
01:56so stay tuned for all the details on that civilization and their leader.
01:59This pack introduces a new district, the Diplomatic Quarter.
02:02This is your hub for foreign policy and international relations.
02:05Mechanically, the Diplomatic Quarter grants additional culture
02:08for each delegation or embassy from a foreign civ.
02:12It also reduces the level of enemy spies targeting that district and adjacent districts.
02:18It's so powerful, you can only have one in your civilization at a time.
02:22The Consulate provides additional influence points every turn
02:25and reduces the level of enemy spies when they target that city or cities with encampments.
02:30Meanwhile, the Chancery will grant additional science
02:33each time your civilization captures or kills an enemy spy.
02:36To prevent envoys from becoming too powerful,
02:39envoy bonuses are now directly tied to these two buildings as well.
02:42Finally, for players with Gathering, Storm Horizon,
02:44Fall of the Ethiopia Pack also introduces secret societies.
02:49Consider your options carefully because, uh, nope,
02:51there's no take-backs and there's no do-overs.
02:54There's no, there's no do-overs.
02:56Once your membership is confirmed, you're a member for life.
03:00I mean, um, for the rest of the game.
03:02You'll be fine.
03:03Secret societies offer benefits to those they invite to join their ranks
03:07and with your initiation comes a special governor with four unique promotions.
03:12These governors operate in worldwide networks
03:15and thus have no need to be assigned to a specific city.
03:19Promotion effects offered by secret society governors apply to your whole civ.
03:25But who are these societies that you're signing up for?
03:29The Owls of Minerva are puppeteers who mastermind plots behind the scenes
03:33and use espionage to achieve their goals.
03:36Oh, God.
03:37Oh, God!
03:38Joining their ranks gives access to the Gilded Vault.
03:41This new building has all the benefits of the bank
03:44but also provides your commercial hub's gold adjacency bonus as culture
03:48and grants an additional trade route for cities with a harbor.
03:51The Hermetic Order values alchemy and occult science above all else.
03:56Their success comes from theories and inventions
03:59that other societies dismiss as mere fairytales,
04:02such as ley lines, a new map resource only they can see,
04:06which gives standard adjacency bonuses to all specialty districts
04:10and can even grant bonus yields whenever a great person is earned.
04:13Members of the society can build the Alchemical Society,
04:17a university replacement building that has all of the base university effects.
04:22But it also provides extra great merchant points,
04:25great engineer points, increased production, and gold,
04:28perhaps from some lead lying around somewhere.
04:31The Voidsingers follow a dark religion of ancient gods
04:35and sow chaos to control adversaries.
04:38Joining them unlocks the Old God Obelisk,
04:41which replaces the monument, has all of the monument's base effects,
04:45and provides additional faith and great work slots.
04:48The Voidsingers also have a unique unit, the Cultist.
04:51Purchased with faith, cultists can spend a charge
04:55to recruit followers in enemy cities,
04:57reducing the target city's loyalty by calling its citizens to madness.
05:01The Sanguine Pact is a militaristic regime
05:03known for sapping enemies of their will to fight,
05:06shunning the sunlight,
05:07and absorbing nutrients through the blood of their...
05:11And these are vampires.
05:13Yeah, they're definitely vampires.
05:14Joining the pact unlocks the unique Vampire unit,
05:17which gains combat strength when adjacent units perish.
05:21Instead of dying, vampires retreat to safety with 1 HP,
05:25and can be healed back to full with some good pillaging.
05:28Vampire castles can be placed in any empty tile in your territory
05:31or a neutral territory,
05:33grant defensive bonuses and extra yields,
05:36and in Laird eras, allow you to teleport units between them.
05:39So there you have it.
05:40The faith of Ethiopia,
05:42the diplomacy of a new quarter,
05:43and the intrigue of four new secret societies
05:46with very different goals.
