00:00You lead a fleet of Pirates in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.
00:08Pirates is a new multiplayer scenario available in the free October game update.
00:13Over the course of 60 turns, you'll pillage the high seas, expand your fleet, claim treasure, and increase your infamy.
00:22Victory means not only surviving, but also having the highest score when the scenario ends.
00:27Your score will be based on the points you rack up for fightin', treasure, and infamy.
00:33You'll have the option to set sail as a captain for one of four Pirate Factions.
00:38Each has its own unique abilities and playstyle to help you conquer the tropics and keep you out of Davy
00:44Jones' locker.
00:45The Dread Pirate Faction has an active ability called Walk the Plank.
00:49It immediately sinks a badly damaged enemy ship and temporarily increases your combat strength and movement.
00:57The Dread Pirate passive, Fightin' is what we do best, grants additional gold anytime a unit engages in combat.
01:05The Privateer Faction is sponsored by a government patron.
01:09Their active ability is called Bring Her Home and enlists a badly damaged enemy ship into their patron's navy in
01:17exchange for gold and infamy.
01:19Their passive ability, Letter of Mark, reveals the location of all ports owned by their patron and provides additional gold
01:26for pillaging trade routes.
01:28The Swashbuckler Faction focuses on ferocious exploration.
01:32Their active ability, Tack into the Wind, provides a significant temporary movement boost, perfectly pairing with their passive ability, Sailing
01:41the Open Seas.
01:42This ability grants infamy for revealing more hexes of the map.
01:46Finally, the Hoarder Faction has an active Chainshot ability that lets them temporarily anchor another unit in place.
01:54Their passive ability, Mine, Mine, Mine, reduces the cost of unit maintenance, grants bonus points for burying treasure, and awards
02:02interest on the Hoarder's gold reserves.
02:05Of course, pirates aren't the only fleets on the Briny Deep.
02:09There are also four powerful AI civilizations.
02:12England, France, Spain, and the Netherlands.
02:16While their navies enjoy hunting down pirates, their clearly marked trade routes make it easy to find small trade ships
02:23to plunder.
02:24For those set on bigger prey, a special treasure fleet sets sail from a random port every few turns.
02:31Treasure fleets comprise deadly guard ships, as well as bountiful gold ships.
02:37If you pillage one and survive, you'll be rewarded with bonus treasure points and heaps of gold.
02:43Also after these riches are savage fleets of buccaneers, who replace barbarians in this scenario.
02:49Buccaneer camps make for excellent pillaging, but watch out for infamous pirates.
02:54These special enemies pack a strong punch and grant infamy to any pirate able to sink them.
03:01Of course, there's more to life than fightin'.
03:03When you dock at a port and visit a tavern, you can find additional crew, treasure maps, and occasionally even
03:10powerful relics that provide unique buffs.
03:14So what think ye, matey?
03:16Will you be a privateer, a treasure hoarder, an explorer, or a brute?
03:21How will you lead your pirate fleet in Sid Meier's Civilization VI?
