It's now time for a look at tonight's weather forecast with Josette Deonanon.
00:04
Thank you Disha. Good evening Trinidad and Tobago. Happy Monday. If it wasn't and
00:10
the Monday blues got you down don't worry you can always dust it off and try
00:14
it again tomorrow. And I've got your Tuesday forecast coming right up to help
00:17
you start the new day on the right foot. Before we get into anything let's have a
00:22
little bit of a weekend recap. Friday night saw some clear skies but it was
00:26
pretty humid. For those of you in the West did you catch that lightning show
00:30
on Saturday afternoon? Luckily no rain so I hope your Saturday plans went ahead
00:34
because God knows that mine did not. Sunday was pretty quiet until late
00:38
afternoon when we had some light afternoon showers popping in. The night
00:42
stayed fair but I hope you had that AC on because the humidity was out in full
00:47
force. Now that that recap is done let's talk about today. We kicked off Monday
00:52
morning with some cloudy skies and a little drizzle in the east-west corridor.
00:56
Though the drizzle didn't last long we couldn't say the same about those clouds.
01:00
They stuck around like that piece of lint on your clothes that you've been
01:03
trying to dust off but you just can't. As we move into tonight we can expect
01:08
fairly cloudy skies with some showers possible and maybe even a little
01:13
late-night thunderstorm. So folks if you're working the graveyard shift you
01:16
might catch a show. To our late-nighters be warned though flash flooding may
01:20
occur in these instances so watch out for that. I'd also suggest those out and
01:25
about tonight to keep an extra jacket on hand and to bundle up under your
01:29
blankets for our viewers settling into bed as temperatures will cool down a bit
01:33
with lows around 24 degrees in Celsius in Trinidad and 25 over in Tobago.
01:38
Looking ahead to tomorrow expect some partly cloudy skies yet again in the
01:42
morning with some showers moving in. There's a good chance they'll be heavy
01:47
or even a bit thundery at times so don't leave that umbrella home. I certainly
01:51
learned my lesson after last week. Temperatures are set to rise to about
01:55
32 degrees Celsius in both Trinidad and also in Tobago but with the heat index
02:00
it'll feel more like 36 so make sure you've also got that water bottle on
02:04
hand. And if those clouds do get heavy just remember we could see some gusty
02:09
winds and even street flooding in some areas so plan ahead if you're out and
02:13
about. For your early risers sunrise is set for 6 a.m. in Trinidad and 6 o 2 in
02:21
Tobago with sunset at 539 in Trinidad and 537 in Tobago. Speaking of the beach
02:28
if you're thinking of taking a Tuesday dip keep an eye on the seas. Moderate
02:32
waves are expected around 1.5 to 2 meters in open waters and a gentler 1
02:37
meter in sheltered areas. Great beach day but stay vigilant if you're venturing
02:42
out there. Now here's a look at our tide times for tomorrow.
02:51
For our friends in the western Caribbean a 6.8 magnitude earthquake shook eastern
03:04
Cuba on Sunday after weeks of hurricanes and blackouts that have left many on the
03:09
island reeling. The epicenter of the quake was located approximately 25 miles
03:14
south of Guatelame Maso, Cuba according to a report by the United States
03:18
Geological Survey. The rumbling was felt across the eastern stretch of Cuba
03:22
including in bigger cities like Santiago de Cuba. Luckily there were no immediate
03:27
reports of any damages or injuries. Earthquake comes during another tough
03:31
stretch for Cuba. On Wednesday category 3 hurricane Raphael ripped through
03:36
western Cuba with strong winds knocking out power island-wide destroying
03:40
hundreds of homes and forcing evacuations of hundreds of thousands of
03:44
people. Days after much of the island was still struggling without power. And
03:50
that's your Tuesday forecast. Let's leave Monday's gloom behind and take on
03:55
tomorrow with clear skies even if it may just be for a little while. Thanks for
04:00
tuning in. More news after our break.
