00:00I just can't think of any other quarterback that it's been six years since you've played
00:04elite level quarterbacking that any of us would look around and go, well, yeah, give
00:10that guy a chance, you know, four years into failing on this team because, well, you still
00:15owe him money.
00:16Well, and Albert went down this whole road of like, I just don't know that we have enough
00:20evidence to suggest that Shador can do this or do that.
00:24And it's like, well, wearing a Browns uniform, do we have evidence of Deshaun Watson?
00:27Yeah.
00:27You have it in a Texans uniform, but again, that's so many years ago.
00:30I just don't know.
00:31Like he's like, how can we not be sure that it's like, no, we can be sure we've, we've
00:36seen enough of this.
00:37He doesn't stay healthy.
00:37And then when he actually was healthy with the Browns, he stunk.
00:40He wasn't good.
00:41Like, I just don't know.
00:42The door is closed.
00:43Why are we cracking this open?
00:44Yeah.
00:45And I, I, I get that there has to be another quarterback.
00:48Like I, if, if Albert or anybody else that just doesn't buy into Shador says I need another
00:54quarterback because I can't just put it on Shador.
00:57I get it.
00:58That's been half of our conversations are I'd like some real, but I just not to Sean.
01:03And I, and I think, listen, especially not to Sean out of the rip either is the other
01:07part of this.
01:08Like I was, if they end up doing it where it's Shador and then they think that Deshaun
01:12is the backup plan.
01:13Cause if Shador gets injured, the whole season sunk anyway, then all right, I I've made peace
01:17with it in a way that I feel like you haven't yet, but we'll get there.
01:20Right.
01:21Fine.
01:21But not, not out of the gate.
01:23I don't need to Sean out of the gate.
01:24You throw him out of the gate.
01:25You're telling me, uh, no part of the season is worth anything.
01:29And here's the thing.
01:30Um, if Deshaun starts week one goes out there is relatively healthy and, but just is washed
01:37and it's just obvious that he's washed and you get the number one pick.
01:41It might actually be worth it to play him this year.
01:44If Deshaun goes out there and is really good and at 31, with all the injury histories, you
01:51have to pay him again.
01:53It's debatable, but there are going to be people who say it's worth it.
01:56Anything in between the two extremes are not worth it.
01:59And by the way, even that last, the most extreme on the positive side probably isn't
02:02worth it either, given his age and his injury history and all the other stuff.
02:06So like, I, I do think there are a lot of people who agree with Albert, by the way.
02:09So I'm not trying to say, I'm, I'm merely trying to say disagree with Albert.
02:14Not that I think out like, I do think Albert's wrong, but not that I think he's like out of
02:19pocket with what he says.
02:20I just, I think this is an, I think the people that are saying this, that are, that are selling
02:26this of Deshaun and you owe it to yourself and all this stuff.
02:30I think they've been the people who haven't had to watch it every single day for four years.
02:35And I think it's a little bit easier to say things like you owe it to yourself to
02:39find out.
02:40No, nothing he can do this year disproves the four previous seasons.
02:44Yeah, I do.
02:45I wonder how different this is, if it's just a national people versus local here.
02:49But again, the scary part about all this is that if we have enough people come on the
02:53station, now we had two today, come on this station, two Browns guests and two people
02:56say the narrative that you need to see Deshaun Watson play this season and he deserves a chance
03:01to start then like the Browns might think this way too.
03:03Yeah.
03:04And I think that is like, when I, when I think of Shador, I really don't have any fear.
03:08The kid can play or the kid can't play.
03:10And I think you're providing a better context around him this year.
03:14I think, I think that second off season is pivotal for all young quarterbacks.
03:18I think at the end of this next year, if you can definitively say, Hey, Shador didn't play
03:24well enough to keep this experiment rolling.
03:26Yeah.
03:27But at the same point, I'm excited to see the upside of it.
03:29Right.
03:30At least give that a try.
03:32I like the idea of seeing that as an attempt.
03:34If I think failing with Shador is not the same thing as failing with Deshaun.
03:38Agreed.
03:39A hundred percent.
03:39Failing with Deshaun is really going to piss people off.
03:43Well, failing with Deshaun is going to feel like a complete waste.
03:46Yes.
03:46Like that's going to feel like, what did I do?
03:47Why did I spend so much time talking about this team?
03:49Why did I spend so much energy invested into this team?
03:52That'll feel like a waste in a way where even if Shador doesn't work, finding that out is
03:57not a waste.
03:58Yeah.
03:58And I will say this, like, I think there are going to be people very negative.
04:02If you fail with Shador, I think most of them are in the media because they've been
04:05called one thing or another by the supporters.
04:08And I mean like locally here.
04:10So I don't even see like the downside.
04:12Like, listen, if you fail with either quarterback, it's going to stink.
04:16But the amount of crap that you are going to kick up with Deshaun guys, all the, all the
04:24people that booed or cheered when he got hurt two years ago, they're still here.
04:30They didn't go anywhere.
04:31They still have complicated feelings about Deshaun.
04:34The trade hasn't aged any better.
04:37The Texans have been to the playoffs each of the last couple of years.
04:40You haven't been.
04:41They've won playoff games each of the past couple of years.
04:43As a matter of fact, you've got eight wins in two years.
04:46Like, it's interesting.
04:47Like Albert and I understand like Albert and people who believe in Deshaun as a better
04:52option than Shador keep preaching logic.
04:54I need us all to think about the logic of an organization that has pissed off every fan
05:00here from either bad football or even just simply taking a team that we thought finally
05:06had gotten over the hump and finally had a championship window to getting two winning
05:12seasons in six years.
05:13And now we're, we're standing on, on another transitional year after eight wins in two years.
05:19Where's that logic?
05:20Where's anybody presenting the logic that Deshaun Watson is going to piss everyone off
05:25unless he's Deshaun Watson from 2020, which again was six years ago.
05:29Well, and they just keep walking through.
05:30If the door is labeled how to piss off Browns fans the most, they keep walking through that
05:34door.
05:34Yes.
05:35And I just, I don't know how I've never seen a franchise that just continues to do that
05:39to the, to a fan base.
05:40I just, I've never, I've never seen the amount of times that they do it the way other, other
05:44places don't work this way.
05:45While trying to get people in seats and buy PSLs for a new stadium.
05:51Well, that's the other side of this.
05:52Is that like, we just piss everyone off so much.
05:54And then for what?
05:55Like, Oh, but when, Hey, when, when, when time comes for the PSLs, we'll have everybody
05:59all good.
06:00We'll, we'll have this all figured out and we'll have everyone all copacetic.
06:03It's like, I just, guys, you're running out of room with me here.
06:06I just, I don't believe you're going to have that figured out.
06:08So even if you got the number one pick, I understand, but the, a lot of people just sign
06:12up for it.
06:14Deshaun plays next year, plays a majority of the game, but you get the number one pick.
06:19I'm assuming most people would sign up for that.
06:22Yeah.
06:22If you get the number one overall pick, you can promise people you get the number one
06:25overall pick.
06:25People would sign up for that.
06:26Yeah.
06:26And it would still stink worse than if you got the number one pick with Shador, like infinitely
06:31worse.
06:32Like there is a reason why teams use baggage guys.
06:35There was a reason, the whole baggage thing with, with Baker, there was too much water
06:40under the bridge.
06:41And I think it's wild.
06:42And you know, maybe this is something we need to talk more about.
06:45I think it's wild that after four years, there was too much water under the bridge with the
06:50Browns and Baker specifically two years with Stefanski and Barry that they just couldn't
06:55possibly patch it together with Baker.
06:57And they couldn't possibly reach a deal with him that they had to move off of him.
07:01And now four years of the worst quarterback trade in NFL history, the worst trade in
07:07NFL history.
07:08I can't imagine.
07:09I like, I can't fathom how everything's kumbaya.
07:12I know.
07:12Like, doesn't it feel like a little bit of a kick in the ass?
07:15Well, it's weird.
07:16Like Deshaun goes to Jimmy Haslam's wedding.
07:18They like, they seem to think like, for some reason, Haslam doesn't hold it against him
07:22for how embarrassing this whole entire thing has been.
07:24And for how it's like helped shape the worst move in NFL history is what's attached to
07:28Jimmy Haslam right now.
07:30But they seem like they're all cool.
07:31They seem like they're all good.
07:32And Deshaun doesn't hold it against the Browns.
07:36Well, and he's made a lot of money, I guess.
07:37Maybe that's part of the reason why.
07:39But like, Deshaun doesn't hold any of that.
07:40Like the idea that Deshaun was supposed to be a Hall of Famer at one point and is now
07:44just, I don't know, more excited to go on trips to Italy just doesn't faze him.
07:48Like, this is weird.
07:49Don't forget about Saudi Arabia.
07:50Yes, he does take those trips too.
07:52Yeah.
07:52It is weird.
07:54The whole dynamic of it all is weird.
07:55It's almost as if they just act like if nothing went wrong, people will just act like nothing
08:00went wrong.
08:01And that's not true.
08:02Is this the enemy of my friend is my enemy too, or my friend or whatever that is?
08:06Is it like, did just both parties hate the Cleveland Browns fans?
08:10Or did they all just get along with the idea that they're, I mean, they just, that whole
08:14decision in general?
08:15Hey, Deshaun, you're ripping fans off too, because you haven't lived up to that contract,
08:20but we're ripping them off because we've got eight wins in two seasons.
08:23And then they like smoke cigars and laugh.
08:24Let's have a, let's have a good evil guy laugh about it.
08:27Yeah.
08:28That's an evil guy laugh.
08:29Yeah.
08:30They're like a cartoonishly evil.
08:31I mean, I just, I, at some point I'd like some respect for Browns fans from the Cleveland
08:37Browns.
08:38I would.
08:38And listen, I, they hate the media.
08:41You can tell by how bountiful their relationship is with every media outlet in this town.
08:47You can tell.
08:49And, and I, and listen, I don't want to go too far into it.
08:52You can tell by how they treat the local beat over there.
08:55And that's fine.
08:56Like we criticize them.
08:57I understand that you might feel the things that we say aren't fair, but we are an extension
09:01of the fans and watching them completely disregard any feeling that fans might have about Deshaun
09:08Watson and making sure that everybody knows real live and well, Hey, he's got a chance
09:13and people believe in him is a constant thumb in the eye of Browns fans.
09:18And at some point you have like, I, at some point I thought you would respect your loyal
09:24customers who've respected you sometimes disrespectfully, but who have respected you by
09:29continuing to pour money into you every year.
09:31But by all means play to Sean, by all means go, Hey, you go chase that last dollar that you
09:38spent because five years ago, Jimmy Aslan put a $230 million check in escrow.
09:43So we got to try and milk every cent out of that, no matter what the odds say, no matter
09:48what the evidence says, you keep doing that because it's a good look for you.
09:53Well, you're trying to build a damn stadium in Brook Park.
09:55Yeah.
09:56Wonderful stuff.
09:56Meanwhile, we, again, like the, the two guests we had on from a football perspective today,
10:01believe it makes some football sense to have Deshaun Watson out there.
10:03And that's, that's all they needed.
10:05All they need is just a little bit, just to give a little light into a reasoning.
10:09And that's, that's the green light.
10:12That's all they needed.
10:12I trust Albert Breer on this to have his, his official opinion on this.
10:18I think Florio is a troll.
10:20I think Florio, the only thing Florio hates more than Jimmy Haslam might be Browns fans.
10:25I was talking about DeLeon.
10:26Oh, wait, I was talking about Florio on Baskin and Phelps.
10:29No, I was talking about DeLeon.
10:30I was talking about our guests.
10:31He's a godless Giants fan.
10:33But like Joe's got no, he doesn't, he's got the least skin in the game out of everybody.
10:37I'm just firing shots at everybody.
10:38He's just, he's just somebody that loves football and loves the draft and loves paying attention
10:42to all this stuff.
10:43And even he's like, ah, yeah, I could see, I could see how they would want to do this.
10:46Like if anything, someone like Joe actually brings more credence to the conversation because
10:50he's not as plugged in as someone like Albert is.
10:53Let's go with D in Cleveland.
10:54D, welcome to the show.
10:56Hey, how you doing?
10:57Doing all right.
10:58What you got for us, bud?
11:00Well, I want to talk about the DeSean Watson, Shadira Sanders quarterback situation.
11:05Well, let's get to it.
11:06I can certainly understand you guys sound a little emotional about it, but it is business.
11:11And I know Haslam does want to milk every dollar and he can't get out of it because this is
11:16his investment, this is his dollar.
11:18Real quick, are you a fan?
11:20D, real quick, are you a fan?
11:23Absolutely, I'm a fan.
11:24Then you should be emotional about it, too.
11:26Emotional is not a bad thing.
11:27No, I'm not emotional about it.
11:28I'm not.
11:29I take it for business.
11:30I was emotional when they left in 95.
11:32So you weren't emotional in any of the last four years?
11:35You're not emotional that it's the worst trade in NFL history?
11:38Nope.
11:38Then you're not a real fan, D.
11:39No, I'm not emotional.
11:40Enjoy it.
11:41Oh, you're in your feelings.
11:42Yeah, then you're a coward running from your feelings.
11:45Or, quite frankly, you're an apologist for DeSean Watson in some other way.
11:48I am so sick of people calling here, acting like, oh, if you have any objection to playing
11:55Deshaun Watson, that it's somehow, oh, you're caught in your feelings.
11:59Yeah, and you're ignoring yours.
12:00Or, yeah, or we just don't want to watch bad football.
12:02Like, I just...
12:03This is year four.
12:05Technically, it's year five of him being with the Browns.
12:07But, like, this would be four straight years of watching him just...
12:10Not four straight.
12:11Three straight, then a gap year.
12:12Of watching him just suck.
12:13I don't want to do it.
12:14I don't see how you can be a fan.
12:16I don't see how you can call yourself a fan after four years of this suck and just go,
12:21yeah, I'm cool watching another year.
12:23Do people understand how long that is?
12:25That's a half decade of your damn life.
12:26In NFL terms, do you know how long that is?
12:28Four years is...
12:30That's whole regimes.
12:31That is whole...
12:32That is GMs.
12:33That is head coaches.
12:33That is everything in between.
12:34Like, that is...
12:35It's an exhaustingly long amount of time to just invest in one player and then just feel
12:40so indifferent about the outcomes where we've been completely run amok this whole entire time.
12:45Also, to respond to D there...
12:48And, D, you got it.
12:49I'm sorry.
12:50Tiger got out of the cage here.
12:51But...
12:51And also, Hollywood Meach, who's saying that the Herschel Walker trade is the worst trade
12:56in NFL history.
12:58And second, if Deshaun was to play well, you don't have to pay him, especially if you draft
13:02a quarterback.
13:03Guys, you've already paid Deshaun.
13:06Like, when it comes to, well, you pay him, so you might as well see what you have.
13:09What am I going to believe?
13:11Let's say he has a great year.
13:12Let's say he goes out there, and let's say he actually plays 14 or more games.
13:16Actually, no, hell, let's go real crazy.
13:18He plays 10 or more games.
13:20And let's say, oh, gosh, give me a good QBR for him.
13:2387.
13:24Okay, let's go lower than that, because that's impossible.
13:26Let's go 45.
13:28What about that?
13:30And by the way, I'm being too facetious now.
13:31Let's go 60.
13:33Oh, my gosh, that's the best Deshaun we've seen ever here in Cleveland, and you still
13:38will have already paid him his money.
13:40Like, this idea of, well, you might as well see.
13:42No, you already saw it.
13:44It's past tense.
13:46Yeah.
13:46Like, the idea of, wow, until you've stopped paying him.
13:50No, no, no.
13:51That's already, it's called a sunk cost.
13:53How do people not understand what a damn sunk cost is when it comes to bad contracts and
13:57bad deals in football?
13:58Yeah, because the funny thing about this is that people like Albert that loved Stefanski
14:01so much are now turning on the idea that a different coach could get something out of
14:06Deshaun Watson.
14:07And I'm telling you, it's going to be the biggest talking point is what Albert said at 520 and
14:11what we've been saying now for a couple weeks.
14:13That new, fresh set of eyes is going to be something for Deshaun Watson.
14:17And I just don't believe it.
14:18I don't think Stefanski is the reason why it didn't work out with Deshaun Watson.
14:21I think Deshaun Watson is the reason why it didn't work out with Deshaun Watson.
14:24Deshaun Watson.
