00:30of a character in a post-apocalyptic
00:32setting is because his
00:34connection to his bike
00:35is deeper
00:37I think than any other type of
00:40vehicle that you could have if you were just an average Joe
00:42living in this world
00:43One of the things that we have worked so
00:46hard on in the game is making
00:48the bike fun whether you ride a
00:49real bike or not. So
00:51with just an hour riding around on this bike
00:53you can start feeling like
00:56you're a pro even if you've never
00:57ridden a real bike
01:01That's one of the taglines for the game is
01:03ride the broken road. In the story
01:05the government comes in and blows up these bridges
01:07because they're trying to stop the horde
01:09You can jump them. You know you have to upgrade your bike
01:11and you have to upgrade your skills
01:13in order to be able to jump some of the bigger
01:16jumps in the game and reach areas
01:17that you maybe couldn't otherwise get to
01:19If the player engages in side quests
01:22and does work for these encampments
01:23he can earn enough trust and credits to buy better
01:25faster engines and nitrous
01:27so it can help boost out of those situations
01:29to get out of trouble. But if the rain comes in
01:31makes the trails all muddy that's something the player
01:33really has to pay attention to because you know
01:35then you wipe your bike out and it takes a bunch
01:37of damage and then you have to then you're on foot for a while
01:39until you can find the scrap you need to repair it
01:41and we wanted to make it you know sort of
01:43survival-like which means that we have
01:46you know fuel management for your bike
01:47you really have to pay attention to it
01:49we didn't want to get heavy-handed with it
01:51but on the other hand we wanted to feel like there were stakes
01:53It's a world where the bike is your edge
01:55but it's also a liability
01:57and the people you can manage it and people want to take it from you
02:00It's not just choosing where
02:02making sure you park far enough away
02:04so they don't hear you it's also
02:05hey I'm gonna park it so that I can
02:07turn it this way so if I need to make
02:09a quick getaway I can just get on my bike
02:11and ride but also
02:13if you've upgraded your saddlebags
02:15and you have more storage you might have extra ammo
