00:02An unprecedented result for One Nation in South Australia's state election.
00:07I think it's wonderful, I voted for One Nation.
00:10I voted Labor every state election leading up to it, but this time I voted for One Nation.
00:15In Murray Bridge, locals say they want change.
00:19I think the affordability is obviously the thing that's affecting people,
00:23and petrol and that flows onto the cost of living and things like that.
00:26The young ones can't buy houses now. They're flooding Australia with immigrants.
00:32I'm not racist, I don't have a problem with it, but I just have a problem with the numbers.
00:36A lot of people don't see much as being done around here.
00:39On election night in Kadena on the York Peninsula, there were similar sentiments.
00:44One Nation wants Australia back as Australia.
00:49Oh, net zero, don't get me started on that. That needs to be abolished.
00:54Polling says what we're all thinking.
00:56So far, One Nation has secured the seat of Nadjeri, north of Adelaide,
01:00and stands a high chance of winning three more.
01:03Hammond in the Murraylands, MacKillop in the south-east,
01:07and Narunga on the York Peninsula.
01:09One Nation federal recruit Barnaby Joyce
01:12attributes the party's success on Saturday to their strong opinions.
01:17Clarity, unity, strength, we've been saying that all the way through.
01:20We, in One Nation, we like it if you like us, we understand if you don't.
01:25We should try and find what we agree on.
01:27Now, trust me, there's going to be plenty of things that we disagree on too,
01:31but why don't we start from a position of what we can work together on?
01:33The regional seat of Hammond is one of many across South Australia,
01:37where voters threw their support behind One Nation in record numbers.
01:42Its population centre is here in Murray Bridge,
01:45where, in many polling booths, they came first on primary votes.
01:49With an upcoming May by-election in Susan Lee's former federal seat of Farrah in New South Wales
01:55and the Victorian state election in November, nationally, major parties are already on the attack.
02:02Let's face it, One Nation, having been around for now 30 years,
02:06are yet to have ever delivered a budget.
02:09They haven't delivered a hospital, they haven't delivered a road.
02:12As counting continues in SA,
02:14One Nation is polling more than 20% of the primary vote ahead of the Liberal Party,
02:19which is now facing warnings of a long road back.
02:23The federal election is a long way away, but it does show that it's meaningful.
02:27You know, if there was an election, I think a lot of people would vote for One Nation.
02:30And so in that sense, South Australia is an example.
02:33An example and a potential threat across the political spectrum.
02:37Well, this is a problem.
02:39Well, this is a problem.
02:39On a point in the earthquake,
02:39Now that's a problem.
02:39So it doesn't work in the state.
