President Donald Trump on Monday told reporters the Strait of Hormuz would "open very soon" after the U.S. and Iran had "productive" talks.

The comments came after Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran Saturday night, calling on the regime to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face bombardment of its power grid.

Iran’s state media reported that the talks never happened, citing an unnamed “senior security official” in a post on Telegram.

00:00What about the Strait of Hormuz? Who's going to be in control of that?
00:02That'll be opened very soon, if this works.
00:04How soon? And who's in control of it?
00:07Will Iran still be able to control the flow of oil?
00:10Be jointly controlled.
00:12By who?
00:13Maybe me. Maybe me.
00:15You want the United States to be in control of the Strait of Hormuz?
00:17Me and the Ayatollah, whoever the Ayatollah is, whoever the next Ayatollah.
00:20Look, and it'll also be a form of a very serious form of a regime change.
00:26Now, in all fairness, everybody's been killed from the regime.
00:31They're really starting off. There's automatically a regime change.
00:35But we're dealing with some people that I find to be very reasonable, very solid.
00:42The people within know who they are. They're very respected.
00:45And maybe one of them will be exactly what we're looking for.
00:50Look at Venezuela, how well that's working out.
00:52We are doing so well in Venezuela with oil and with the relationship between the president-elect and us.
01:01And maybe we find somebody like that in Iran.
