President Donald Trump says the United States Navy has complete control of the Strait of Hormuz, declaring that the waterway is “open” while saying ships can enter but cannot proceed into Iran. His remarks come as Iran moves to impose transit fees on ships passing through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The contrasting statements are fueling a fresh confrontation over who controls one of the world’s most important oil and shipping routes. Is Trump’s claim of U.S. control being challenged by Iran’s new toll-fee measures?

Watch the full remarks and the latest developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, U.S.-Iran tensions, shipping restrictions, and the global energy market.

00:00Can you give us an estimate of what you think the Strait of Hormuz will be?
00:04Well, it's open now. We're taking a lot of shifts. It's open now.
00:06Look, the only one that has control of the Strait of Hormuz right now is the United States Navy.
00:12We have a blockade that's been infallible.
00:15The Senate, they want to get rid of the Senate, too.
00:19But I don't say it, and I wouldn't do it.
00:22But, you know, they want to get rid of the Senate.
00:24They want to get rid of, ideally, the House, but they're thinking about maybe keeping the House.
00:29You know, isn't that nice?
00:31These are people that have been not successful.
00:34They're people that have been, in many cases, failures.
00:37They come from other failed countries, and they come here and they tell us how to run our country.
00:42They come from places, like I won't mention because I don't want to get myself into a controversy,
00:48but they come from countries that are not great.
00:52They come from, let's say, as an example, Somalia.
00:56They come in and then they tell us how our Constitution, how our Declaration of Independence, how it works.
01:03It doesn't work that way.
01:05And they're not smart.
01:08They have no aptitude.
01:10They have nothing going, and they're telling us how to run our country.
01:14And I just don't think it's going to happen.
01:16I think that they start off, now I may be wrong, but, you know, they start off with a big
01:20disadvantage.
01:21People don't want to have radical lunatics involved in running our country.
01:25And that's what we have.
01:26We have people that are saying things that are so great.
01:28Now they're denying it.
01:29Or they say, well, I've changed my mind.
01:31They want to defund our police.
01:33They want to terminate our military.
01:34No military.
01:35We don't want any military in our country.
01:37We don't want our police to be paid anymore.
01:40They want our police down to, like, almost nothing.
01:44It's like, doesn't make sense, right?
01:47Mr. President, back to the subject of Iran, sir, can you give us an estimate of what you think the
01:52Strait of Hormuz will be?
01:54Well, it's open now.
01:55We're taking a lot of shit.
01:56It's open now.
01:57Look, the only one that has control of the Strait of Hormuz right now is the United States Navy.
02:02We have a blockade that's been infallible.
02:06It's a steel wall.
02:07And we let people in that we want to let in.
02:09And those people come in.
02:10And they've been coming in and they're going out.
02:13So it's actually open now.
02:15We do not let them go into Iran.
02:17They're not admitted into the Strait to go to Iran.
02:20But it's open for others now.
02:24A little bit complex because they will, on occasion, drop a mine.
02:29We find the mines.
02:30And, you know, we've mind-swept the entire Strait, as you probably maybe heard, maybe you didn't hear.
02:38But we control the Strait 100%.
02:41Now, can they make trouble?
02:43Yeah, they can make trouble.
02:44But they're broke.
02:46They have no money.
02:47You know, Iran is broke, totally broke.
02:50And they're not paying their soldiers.
02:53They have inflation of 300% as of last night.
02:57I heard 300, 309%.
02:59So we'll see what happens.
03:01But they've been bad for it.
03:04They say 47.
03:04It's actually 50 now.
03:0647, they've been saying it for three years.
03:09But for 50 years, they've been the bully of the Middle East.
03:12What they've done is terrible.
03:13They've killed hundreds of thousands of people.
03:16They've killed people.
03:17They've wounded and maimed people with the legs, the arms.
03:20You know, with the roadside bomb is their bomb.
03:23They're very proud of it.
03:25And now they're paying a price.
03:27Thank you very much, everybody.
03:29Thank you, everybody.
03:31Thank you, everybody.
03:33Thank you, guys.
03:33Did you call the Chairman Warsh occasionally?
03:35No, actually, the Wall Street Journal had a wrong story.
03:38He said I spoke to him.
03:40No, I have tremendous respect for Kevin Warsh.
03:42I've only spoken to him one time, briefly, a few days ago.
03:47Just a conversation.
03:48Look, he's going to do it.
03:50He's going to run it.
03:51I know what he'd like to do, but he has to run it.
03:54He's got a board.
03:55It's not only him.
03:55If it was up to him, it would be different.
03:57But he's got a board.
03:58But I've only, you know, they said I speak to him all the time.
04:01And I've spoken to him one time since his assumption, since he took over.
04:07And great conversation.
04:09But just a, he's a great guy.
04:11You know, he's my pick.
04:12And I'm going with him 100%.
04:15But they made it sound like I live and breathe.
04:19You know, I speak to Kevin all the time, every time.
04:21I spoke to him one time.
04:23Okay, thank you very much.
04:24Thank you, Chris.
04:26Thank you, Chris.
04:29Any response to that?
04:32Well, I put it out today on truth.
04:34I do.
04:35I have a response.
04:36I put it out today on truth.
04:38Good response.
04:39The relationship is very good.
04:41Yeah.
