00:00U.S. President Donald Trump expressed renewed optimism on Tuesday morning over the ongoing negotiations with Iran,
00:08saying there's a good chance a deal can be signed within two or three days.
00:12The remarks come just a day after Iran and Israel renewed their offensives and exchanged a flurry of missiles at
00:18each other,
00:19threatening to end the fragile truce that has been in place since the 8th of April.
00:23Trump did not provide a reason for the renewed optimism, but did hint at diplomacy being the most effective solution
00:30to the crisis.
00:32Speaking to reporters, the Republican president said bombing is easy and can start soon,
00:37but it would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which has been effectively closed since the war started on the
00:4228th of February.
00:44Mediators led by Pakistan have been trying for weeks to get a deal on the table,
00:48but the two sides have clashed over Iran's stockpiles of enriched uranium and its nuclear program at large.
00:55Trump says the war can only end if Iran fully agrees to forego its nuclear ambitions
01:01and surrender their 440 kilograms of uranium,
01:04while Iran demands to pursue civilian-purpose nuclear projects and a full withdrawal of U.S. troops from the region.
01:11Tehran has also demanded that its assets internationally frozen by the U.S. be immediately freed,
01:17as well as a permanent truce in Lebanon as part of any arrangement.
