00:00President Trump is sending ICE officers to some of the nation's airports to try to backfill TSA
00:05agents who've either quit or are just refusing to work because they're not being paid. And
00:09can you blame them? The president is banking on the move, providing some much-needed relief to
00:14flyers waiting in ridiculously long, we are talking hours-long security lines. Trump made
00:20the announcement on Truth Social Sunday, offering support to the TSA agents who've remained, quote,
00:25despite the fact that the radical left Democrats, who are only focused on protecting hardline
00:29criminals who have entered our country illegally, are endangering the USA by holding back the money
00:34that was long ago agreed to with signed and sealed contracts and all. Security lines have stretched
00:40on for as long as three hours at some airports, owing to this staffing shortage. The Post's
00:46Victor Nava has more on what the president said and what travelers can expect this week.
00:50So President Trump announced that he's going to send ICE agents to airports as travelers face
00:55long lines at TSA checkpoints. Borders are, Tom Homan, was asked about this during an interview
01:04on one of the Sunday shows, and he explained that the ICE agents are not going to be performing the
01:13actual specialized tasks that TSA screeners do, like operating the X-ray machines. What the ICE agents
01:20are going to be doing, according to Homan, is performing other tasks the TSA does, like guarding
01:28exits and guarding entry points. Homan explained that by having ICE agents do those sorts of jobs,
01:36the TSA agents, the TSA screeners, can focus on the more specialized tasks. Democrats are not happy
01:42with Trump's plan to send ICE agents to airports. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has already
01:49criticized the plan. He was interviewed on CNN Sunday morning, and he said the last thing the
01:56American people need are untrained ICE agents at airports all across the country, potentially to
02:01brutalize or in some instances kill them. So Jeffries was referring to the actions by some federal
02:07immigration officers in Minneapolis earlier this year. The Strait of Hormuz is still effectively closed,
02:13and President Trump is furious with Iran's blockade of the critical waterway. He's given that
02:18country's leaders until tonight to shape up or else. Trump posted over the weekend that if the
02:24Islamic regime didn't reopen the strait, the U.S. would, in his words, hit and obliterate their
02:28various power plants, starting with the biggest one first. Ali Mousavi, Iran's representative to the
02:34U.N. Maritime Agency, in an apparent response to Trump's warning, assured the world that the strait
02:39remained open to all traffic, not associated with Iran's enemies. Kind of splitting hairs there and
02:45probably not quite what the president had in mind. Mousavi added, quote, diplomacy remains Iran's
02:52priority. However, a complete cessation of aggression as well as mutual trust and confidence
02:56are more important. Since the U.S. and Israeli attacks began on February 28th, Iran has used
03:02threats of violence to effectively shut down the strait and with it stop the flow of 20 percent of
03:08the world's oil. All that has sent oil prices over a hundred bucks a barrel. Just a month ago,
03:13it was only 70. Tehran is far outmatched by the U.S. and Israel in terms of firepower,
03:18but has vowed to use those surging oil prices as a strategic point of pressure.
03:24DHS announced Sunday that 25-year-old Jose Medina Medina, an illegal migrant from Venezuela,
03:30has been arrested for the execution-style murder of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman. Gorman was gunned down
03:36in cold blood while walking with friends near the campus of Loyola University, Chicago, early Thursday
03:41morning. Medina Medina allegedly approached Gorman from behind and fired a single shot to her head,
03:47killing the college freshman. Now, the suspect was dressed in black and wore a mask, but surveillance
03:52cameras were able to track him back to an apartment building where internal cameras there captured his
03:56face. In 2023, Medina Medina was caught and then released at the U.S. border under the Biden
04:01administration. A month later, he was busted for shoplifting at a Chicago Macy's and released under
04:07the city's sanctuary city laws. Gorman's family released a statement that reads in part, quote,
04:12she was exactly where she should have been, close to campus, surrounded by friends, living her life.
04:19What happened to Sheridan cannot be reduced to the idea of someone being in the wrong place at the
04:24wrong time. This is the loss of a daughter, the loss of a sister, the loss of a future filled
04:29with
