00:01President Trump defends his decision to ease restrictions on Russian diesel,
00:05why Republicans are joining Democrats in warning it could help fund Putin's war.
00:10Plus, federal agents raid Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's home,
00:14her sharp accusation against Trump.
00:16And newly released 9-1-1 recordings from Krista Pike's failed execution,
00:21why emergency responders were told the call was a hoax.
00:27The stories that matter.
00:28The facts you can trust.
00:31From across the country to around the world,
00:35this is Unbiased Updates from Straight Arrow.
00:39Hey everybody, I'm Christian Bryant.
00:41Glad you're hanging out with us this morning.
00:43Let's get you caught up and ready for the day ahead.
00:45We begin this morning with President Trump pushing back against Democrats and Republicans
00:50who want him to scrap his diesel deal with Russia.
00:53The president says it'll help bring down fuel prices,
00:56but lawmakers warn it could also help fund Putin's war in Ukraine.
01:01Trump is standing by his decision to ease restrictions on Russian diesel imports despite growing opposition in Congress.
01:08Six senators, including four Republicans, are urging him to reverse course,
01:12warning the U.S. should not give Putin a financial lifeline while Russia continues its war in Ukraine.
01:18But Trump isn't backing down.
01:20In a post-Monday, he defended the deal saying he made the right choice for the American people.
01:25And when asked about the Republican criticisms, he had this to say.
01:29Well, I think these are Republicans that can't really be serious.
01:34We have, you know, we make a lot of oil.
01:37We could do a restriction on oil, but the rest of the world would be greatly, greatly affected if we
01:44do that.
01:45And we could do a restriction, you know, a cap on diesel, keep it all for ourselves.
01:49That would have a very big impact.
01:51And it's not really a deal with me.
01:52It's a deal for the rest of the world.
01:54So anything that could help our farmers, our ranches, I like.
01:58And I do think this, Zolinski has to focus on making it a deal, not talking about that.
02:03Trump says the Russian diesel will help lower prices,
02:07though energy analysts question how much difference it'll actually make.
02:11Oil prices rose Monday after a ceasefire Trump announced between Russia and Ukraine on energy targets failed to hold.
02:18Brent crude climbed to nearly $108 a barrel before falling back to around $104 early this morning.
02:25U.S. crude also eased overnight, while diesel futures gave back their small drop from last week.
02:32Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is accusing President Trump of using federal law enforcement to target his political enemies.
02:39That's after federal agents searched her home Monday, just three weeks before the midterm elections.
02:45These are the scenes outside Omar's Washington, D.C. home Monday morning with agents carrying boxes from the property.
02:52The Justice Department says Homeland Security investigators executed a search warrant as a part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.
03:00A source familiar with the case tells Reuters the investigation involves alleged immigration fraud,
03:06including paperwork Omar's late father filled out when she was a child.
03:10The Justice Department has not publicly confirmed those details.
03:13In a post on X, Omar called the search an attempt to weaponize federal law enforcement.
03:19She accuses Trump of a decade-long campaign of political intimidation and says she will not be silenced.
03:26Vice President J.D. Vance made this accusation about Omar during a podcast interview earlier this year.
03:32We actually think that Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America.
03:38We're trying to look at what the remedies are.
03:40That's the thing that we're trying to figure out is what are the legal remedies now that we know that
03:44she's committed immigration fraud.
03:46How do you go after her?
03:47How do you investigate her?
03:48How do you actually do the thing?
03:49How do you build a case?
03:50Vance offered no evidence to support that claim.
03:53And Trump has repeatedly attacked Omar, including at this rally last December, when he said she should be kicked out
03:59of the country.
04:00On X, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz wrote that Trump is, quote, abusing his power to go after political opponents weeks
04:07before an election.
04:08Omar is running for a fifth term in Congress.
04:11The Justice Department has not announced any charges against her or said what agents seized during Monday's search.
04:18Newly released 911 recordings reveal a half-hour delay in getting emergency help to Tennessee death row inmate Krista Pike
04:25after her failed execution.
04:27At one point, dispatchers were told the call was a hoax.
04:31The recordings obtained by the Associated Press show the first call came in at 8.40 the night of September
04:3630th, more than an hour after Pike's execution began.
04:40But the caller couldn't provide a code to verify the emergency.
04:44And at one point, dispatchers were told no help was needed.
04:47It took about 30 minutes before prison officials confirmed the call was real and let first responders through the gates.
04:53Listen to the confusion here.
04:55So we have a medical call for service at the River Bend prison saying that they carried out the execution,
05:00the subject didn't pass away, and they need an ambulance because she's not breathing normally.
05:03We are trying to find out if that is an actual thing that is happening and we need to send
05:07an ambulance and or if you need police assistance or if this is someone that is just basically prank calling
05:14or, like, swatting us.
05:15Per supervisors here at the DEC, we have been informed that it is a false call.
05:20There is no medical assistance needed at River Bend prison.
05:23We got a call about a failed execution at you guys' facility, and we just call in to verify.
05:31Um, who called you?
05:36Um, or is it like a sergeant that I could speak with?
05:39Or a supervisor?
05:41Who called you, you know?
05:45Um, no, we don't.
05:47Exactly, no.
05:48Pike survived two doses of the execution drug and spent several days on a ventilator.
05:53Her lawyers say she's now talking and walking with help.
05:56She was released from the hospital over the weekend and returned to prison.
06:00Tennessee has paused further executions while it reviews what went wrong.
06:05It's still unclear whether the state will try to execute Pike again.
06:09Six Flags has temporarily shut down nine roller coasters across six of its parks after a man reportedly fell to
06:16his death from a ride at Six Flags over Georgia.
06:19The company says it's a precaution while police investigate what happened.
06:23It happened just before four Monday afternoon at the park outside Atlanta.
06:28Video shows passengers being evacuated from the Goliath roller coaster after it stopped on the tracks.
06:34Witnesses say they saw a man fall from the ride, striking parts of the coaster on his way down.
06:40Four other people were injured, though police haven't said how.
06:43The cause of the fall is still under investigation.
06:46Goliath has been open since 2006.
06:49It reaches speeds of 70 miles an hour and stands about 200 feet tall.
06:54Six Flags says it's temporarily closed similar rides at other parks out of an abundance of caution.
07:00The company is also facing lawsuits over alleged brain injuries on its X2 roller coaster in Southern California, a ride
07:07it recently announced it was retiring.
07:10Actress Selma Blair is facing federal assault allegations after an incident aboard a flight in New York, and her representatives
07:17say a medical emergency is to blame.
07:20The 54-year-old actress, known for movies like Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde, was arrested Sunday night after her
07:27Delta flight landed at JFK.
07:29Police say she was physically abusive toward crew members, and two flight attendants reported injuries.
07:34One was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
07:37The FBI has since issued Blair a summons accusing her of assault.
07:42Her case will be handled in federal court in Brooklyn.
07:45No court date has been set.
07:47Blair's representative told TMZ she experienced a, quote, medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct, and that she's now
07:54in stable condition.
07:55In a statement, Delta said it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers
08:02and crew always comes first.
08:04Blair had recently been sharing videos of her travels on Instagram.
08:08She's also been open about her battle with multiple sclerosis, which she was diagnosed with in 2018.
08:14This isn't her first incident on a flight, by the way.
08:17Back in 2016, she apologized for an outburst aboard a plane, saying she had mixed alcohol with medication and blacked
08:24out.
08:25A federal judge has ordered a temporary halt to tree cutting at a historic golf course in Washington, D.C.,
08:32where President Trump wants to make some major changes.
08:35And the judge is not happy with how his administration has gone about it.
08:39More than 400 trees were cut down at East Potomac Golf Links over the holiday weekend, and during a hearing
08:45Monday, federal judge Ana Reyes said she was, quote, furious.
08:49She had previously ordered government lawyers to give advance notice before making major changes.
08:54But the Justice Department waited until 4.55 Friday afternoon, just five minutes before the long holiday weekend, to file
09:01that notice.
09:03Reyes said she had trusted the government not to do exactly what it did, adding, quote,
09:07There is no excuse for this.
09:09The government says it was removing dead or dangerous trees under a plan dating back to 2019, but the judge
09:15wants to know why it had to happen so quickly.
09:18She's blocked further tree cutting until at least two this afternoon and wants answers from a senior Interior Department official.
09:25The group challenging Trump's plans wants the halt extended to 14 days.
09:31Finally this morning, Charlie Brown and the gang are still waiting for the Great Pumpkin,
09:35but in California they've already found a pretty big one.
09:38Meet Rocky, all 2,389 pounds of him.
09:44That was enough to win the World Championship Pumpkin Weigh Off in Half Moon Bay Monday.
09:48His grower, Travis Geinger of Minnesota, drove 35 hours to get him there and is heading home with more than
09:55$21,000 in prize money.
09:58Not bad for a pumpkin, but here's the thing.
10:01Rocky didn't even come close to the world record.
10:03That belongs to a British pumpkin named Bagheera, which weighed in at more than 2,800 pounds earlier this month.
10:10And even that record may already be history.
10:13A grower in Rhode Island just unveiled a pumpkin weighing at a whopping 3,156 pounds.
10:21He's now waiting for Guinness to make it official.
10:24My question is, what are they giving these pumpkins?
10:27Is it like protein and creatine to get them big?
