00:00Even before the crash at LaGuardia forced the closure of the airport, snarling flights around
00:04the country, traveling was already a nightmare thanks to TSA shortages. Monday marked the start
00:09of ICE's deployment to try and get those lines a little bit shorter. I asked the Post's deputy
00:14managing editor, Michael Zenni, how the first day went. So ICE agents deployed to several major
00:20airports on Monday, but from what we could tell, it looks like they were not doing any of the
00:26screening or any of the sort of hard work that the TSA agents actually do themselves.
00:34We saw a lot of photos and videos of ICE agents staying around, assisting with lines and other
00:40ancillary security, and also collecting a lot of scorn from the flying public. We saw people
00:47screaming ICE out, photographers following ICE agents around airports, and people sort of just
00:54generally being very hostile to ICE agents who have become very divisive following the big
01:04immigration raids, especially in Minneapolis. President Trump was asked about ICE's work
01:10at the airports Monday and had this to say. I want to thank ICE because they stepped it so
01:15strongly. They'll do great. And if that's not enough, I'll bring in the National Guard. We're
01:21not going to have the Democrats destroy our country. And if the president has his way,
01:26it may be quite some time before things get back to normal for the TSA. Michael Zenni explains.
01:31President Trump has waded into the debate over funding the Department of Homeland Security and
01:37the TSA. And he suggested that actually he doesn't even want a bill that would fund these agencies if it
01:44does not also include this bill that he's pushing very, very hard, which is the Save America Act,
01:51which would require proof of citizenship and voter ID at polls to vote, as well as several requirements
01:59that he's pushing that he says will help better secure the election. Democrats, of course, and even
02:06some members, some Republicans in the Senate are very, very opposed to that particular act. And it seems like
02:14that's going to be even thornier to get through than the current impasse that Congress is on with regards to
02:22funding TSA and other other Department of Homeland Security priorities.
