00:00You'd be forgiven if you didn't know that there were supposed to be new U.S.-led strikes on Iran
00:05today. No one outside of a select few did know. That was until President Trump called off the
00:11private plans publicly, posting that he was asked by leaders in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United
00:17Arab Emirates to pump the brakes since, quote, serious negotiations are now taking place.
00:22The president did leave open the possibility of attacks in the future, saying that he told
00:26the U.S. military leaders to, quote, be prepared to go forward with a full, large-scale assault of
00:31Iran on a moment's notice in the event that an acceptable deal is not reached. Monday's
00:37developments followed news out of Tehran that the country's president, Massoud Pazeshkian,
00:41admitted that his country, quote, suffered harm from the U.S. and Israeli strikes and urged officials to
00:46face the reality of war. But if that sounds to you like he was capitulating to the U.S. in
00:51some way,
00:51he then said this, quote, we will not sacrifice our country's dignity and honor for comfort or
00:56convenience. We are fully capable of defending our nation's rights with strength backed by our
01:01people. The Trump administration is celebrating a full year with zero migrants being released into
01:07the country. And the amount of attempted border crossings has also dropped dramatically. Officials
01:12say the figure hasn't been this low since the early 1990s. The Post's senior reporter Chris
01:16Neesey has been covering this story and has more of the details the administration is celebrating.
01:21Yeah, Caitlin, definitely some jaw-dropping stats coming from the Department of Homeland Security
01:25this week, as the data shows that the Trump administration's illegal immigration crackdown
01:30is having its intended effect. Probably the most striking detail revealed by DHS is that in April
01:36of this year, fewer migrants were picked up on a typical day than during a typical hour in December
01:42of 2023, a time when the Biden administration was letting hundreds of people stream into the country
01:47every single day. As you mentioned, April marked the 12th consecutive month without a single migrant
01:52being released into the U.S., with crossings plummeting to their lowest monthly total since 1992.
01:59Apprehensions at the border are in free fall, down 94% from peak levels during the previous
02:04administration. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott noted that about 68,000 migrants
02:10were released into the U.S. in April 2024 when Biden was in office, which is obviously a far cry
02:16from
02:17the zero who made it across the border in April of this year. A total of five people, including two
02:22teenage gunmen, were killed Monday after an active shooter situation at a San Diego mosque. A law
02:27enforcement source identified the suspects as 17-year-old Cain Clark and 19-year-old Caleb Vasquez.
02:34Clark was a student and standout wrestler at Madison High School in San Diego. He and Vasquez took the
02:39lives of three people at the mosque before driving a short distance and dying of self-inflicted gunshots
02:45inside a white BMW. Sources told the Post that anti-Islamic writings were found inside the vehicle,
02:51and at least one suspect took a firearm from their parents' home, leaving a suicide note behind that
02:56included writing about racial pride. They also said that hate speech was written on one of the firearms
03:01used in the attack. Photos from the scene showed a red gas can with a Nazi SS emblem on it,
03:07sitting on the
03:08ground next to the gunman's car. The incident began early at 9.42 a.m. Pacific time when a mother
03:13called the police to report that her son ran away taking her vehicle and that he was suicidal and
03:18had her weapons with him. The victims of the massacre had not been identified by officials as of Monday
03:24night, but police said one of them was a security guard at the mosque who played a pivotal role in
03:29assisting, adding that without this man's help, quote,
03:32this could have been worse. Community members identified him as Amin Abdullah and called him
03:38a true hero. For more on these stories and everything else you could possibly want to know,
