00:00Hello everyone, it is good to be here with you all again today.
00:04Today we're going to look into the Word of God and talk about
00:07becoming who God always intended you to be.
00:13When Christ died, He died to restore us to our intended purpose.
00:20We lost something in the fall.
00:23We lost who we actually are and Christ came with restoration.
00:30Let's look at that in the text.
00:31For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
00:36which God has before ordained, that we should walk in them.
00:42Praise be unto God.
00:43This text is talking unto believers.
00:46And it says that we are God's workmanship.
00:50I love that word right there.
00:52Oh, the reason why I love that word is because
00:55the world tries to put all kind of labels on you.
00:58It tries to say that you're nothing, you'll never be anything.
01:02It tries to tell you that you're too fat, you're too ugly,
01:06you screwed up your past too much,
01:08the world will judge you based on your past.
01:11But in God, in Christ Jesus,
01:13the Bible does not label me or limit me to my past.
01:17It calls me God's workmanship.
01:19Oh, in Christ Jesus.
01:21What's that mean?
01:22That means that we are God's craftsmanship, meaning that we are God's design.
01:28We have been designed with intentionality by His divine creator.
01:33That means that we have purpose.
01:36God intentionally, skillfully crafted you.
01:39I am His workmanship.
01:41They say I'm too fat, too dumb, too stupid, too ugly, too white, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
01:45No, no, no, no, no, no.
01:46I am God's workmanship.
01:48Praise be unto God.
01:50Then the Bible goes on and says,
01:52Created in Jesus Christ unto good works.
01:54Not only am I God's workmanship, which that is great,
01:57but I was created unto good works.
02:01When we talk about the word unto, we're talking about direction,
02:05meaning God has created me with direction.
02:07We're talking about movement, meaning I am supposed to move in God.
02:11Ah, we're talking about purpose.
02:14I mean, I was designed with purpose.
02:16So I'm God's workmanship, and I have a purpose.
02:19Oh, I'm created unto good works in Christ Jesus.
02:24Now, when we talk about Christ Jesus, we're talking about the new creation.
02:27We are born anew, born again in Christ Jesus.
02:32He offers us a new life.
02:34We're not talking about doing this thing on your own.
02:37Outside Christ, all you can do is modify your behavior.
02:40This is not behavior modification.
02:42This is a new life in Christ.
02:46All things are done away with.
02:47Behold, all things have been made new in Christ Jesus.
02:52So I am created unto good works.
02:56Praise be unto God, meaning that I am created for a purpose.
03:01I'm shaped for a purpose.
03:03I'm God's workmanship.
03:05I'm not just a product of my trauma.
03:08I'm not just a product of my past.
03:11I'm not just ultimately a product of my culture or where I've been.
03:15No, no, no, no, no.
03:16I am created unto good works.
03:19I was designed by God for a purpose.
03:23Shaped by God skillfully for a purpose.
03:25Praise be unto God.
03:27God has ordained this before.
03:31Meaning in Christ Jesus, before I ever fail, before we ever messed up, before we ever screwed
03:39things up, before we ever had the addiction, before we ever had the divorce, before we ever
03:44screwed over this job, that situation.
03:46Before our worst day, God had ordained a path for us.
03:52Oh, this path is unto good works.
03:55This path is a walk in righteousness.
03:57He has a path for me.
03:59Sometimes we get off the path.
04:01But God, the Bible says that he had ordained this.
04:04He had before ordained this.
04:06Before I had ever lived.
04:08Before I had ever came on the scene, I existed in the mind of God.
04:12And he had a path for me.
04:15Our God loves us because he had a path for us before we ever existed.
04:20A way that we should walk in.
04:22Praise be unto God.
04:23Meaning God wants to walk with us.
04:27On the path.
04:28Sometimes we get off the path.
04:31Oh, goodness.
04:31Because this path requires participation.
04:34You must participate with God.
04:36You must trust God above yourself.
04:39Or if you're not trusting God and you're trusting yourself, you're detouring off the path.
04:43But the great thing about God is, even though you detour off the path, the path is still there.
04:49With people, if you screw them over too much, rebel too much, they say, okay, I'm done with you.
04:54You can't come back.
04:55But God says, I still have a path for you.
04:59Oh, when you shake your fist.
05:01I've shook my fist in God's face so many times.
05:03But he did not delete the path.
05:06Thank you, God, for the path.
05:09That I can still walk on.
05:11Sometimes we detour.
05:13But there's this thing called repentance.
05:15When we repent, we can return on to the path of good works.
05:20Oh, you're a creative believer for good works.
05:24You have a purpose that was designed before time.
05:27Oh, you can detour.
05:28Or you can return to the path of who you was always designed to be.
05:33God gives us the ability to walk in what we were designed to be.
05:37God gives us the ability to restore our intended walk.
05:41Jesus died, not just so that we can be static and still.
05:45Jesus didn't just die to rescue us from sin.
05:47But he died that we can go on unto good works.
05:51That we can walk in the path of pleasing God.
05:53So we can walk hand in hand with God.
05:56Your obedience today steps into a path already marked out.
06:03Oh, goodness.
06:03When we are obedient, we're walking on the path that God has already charted.
06:08Oh, God, help us to stay on your path.
06:10Help us, God, as believers.
06:12Walk in what God has called us to.
06:15We are supposed to have a steady movement in faithfulness.
06:19Oh, when I look at your life, I should see a steady movement.
06:23Mmm, believer.
06:24Help us, God, to walk on your path.
06:25Help us, God, not to try to control the path.
06:28God did.
06:28He created you unto good works.
06:30He did not create you so you can chart out your own path.
06:34Mmm, God.
06:35God did not create you so you could pretend to be the potter.
06:38Mmm, mmm.
06:39He is the potter.
06:40You are the clay.
06:40You are to be molded.
06:41We are to trust God's molding.
06:43So God wants to mold us into who we were intended to be.
06:48Thank you, God, for making a way that I can walk in who I'm supposed to be.
06:53Oh, you will never find out who you're supposed to be without Christ.
06:57Without the cross, you will not find it out.
06:59Mmm, your identity is in God.
07:03Your identity is grounded in his purposes.
07:05Without that, if you bypass the cross, you are taking stabs in life.
07:10That is not who you're supposed to be.
07:11But God has restored a way in him, in his wisdom, by trusting him that we can be restored to
07:18the path we were designed to walk on.
07:19So, praise be unto God.
