00:10Worm's revolution looks different,
00:12yet familiar. Can you tell us more
00:13about the landscapes? Yeah, sure.
00:16Essentially, we wanted to keep
00:17the gameplay in 2D, like the previous
00:20games, but we wanted to
00:21push the technology so that it was actually
00:23all in 3D, for the visual.
00:26It's not up until
00:27recently, we've had the computing power
00:29to have the ability to do
00:31this. So
00:33in this iteration of the game, we have
00:353D landscapes at the same level
00:37of detail as the 2D landscapes
00:40that we had previously.
00:41And how are the particle effects different in this game?
00:44In Worm's revolution, we've managed
00:45to put together a special smoke
00:47rendering system, which has allowed
00:49us to do a huge amount of smoke
00:51in the game. We have had
00:53limitations in the past where we've
00:55not been able to do very much
00:58particle effects
00:59per explosion.
01:02In this game, we've managed
01:03to put together a system
01:05where we can have a huge amount
01:07of particles
01:09and cover the screen of smoke
01:11if we need to, so we're not limited
01:13anymore. In the past,
01:15there's been objects I've had to navigate around.
01:17Will these be making a return?
01:18In Worm's revolution, we have a fully-featured physics
01:21system now in place.
01:23In previous games, we've had static
01:25objects on top of the landscape
01:27and they're actually part of the landscape.
01:29In Worm's revolution,
01:31these now move around in physics.
01:33Physics objects can be destroyed
01:34and they have extra properties when some of them
01:36are destroyed. For example, you could have
01:39a lighter which explodes,
01:40test tubes which expel poison
01:42and also water bottles can blow up
01:45and produce water.
01:47What's this new water we're seeing?
01:49In Worm's revolution, we have a brand new
01:51water system that is custom made.
01:52It's very realistic.
01:54We include properties such as
01:57viscosity, compression
01:59and also turbulence.
02:00The water in Worm's revolution
02:02can push objects around.
02:05So for chain reactions in this game,
02:07the water is a very big part of that.
02:09The water affects the worms
02:11and the push force.
02:12everything is dampened under
02:14water and it's very difficult for the
02:16worms to move around and even jump out
02:18of water. Worms don't die
02:20instantly when they hit dynamic water
02:23but it's very much like poison.
02:25They take damage
02:26at the end of a turn if they're in water.
