00:20today. And tonight we're also in a celebratory mood as we're joined by three favourites from
00:25the world of entertainment. Yes, comedian Judy Love and social media star GK Barry have teamed
00:30up for a brilliantly chaotic new game show called Celebrity Sabotage. With the help of
00:36hidden cameras, famous faces and very fetching overalls, they will be telling us why they've
00:42been hard at work pranking unsuspecting contestants to bring us epic Saturday night telly. It's
00:48lots of fun that. It's so good. And someone who knows all about that is a legendary entertainer
00:52whose career in showbiz has spanned over five decades. And now Les Dennis is returning
00:57to the stage in the heartwarming musical Waitress. He'll be revealing how he has damed Judy Dench
01:02to thank for his love of performing. Also coming up, to shine a light on Endometriosis Awareness
01:08Month, Michelle Ackley shares her powerful story of living with a stabilitating condition that
01:14affects one in ten women in the UK as she finds out how the latest pioneering treatments can
01:19be life-changing for many. Plus, as millions of Muslims around the world prepare to celebrate
01:26Eid later this week, Race Across the World winner Iman Chowdhury reflects on his experience
01:30of observing the holy month of Ramadan whilst also training to run two marathons.
01:36So lots coming up tonight. But first, with parts of the UK expected to see the warmest day
01:41of the year so far this week. Very exciting. It feels like spring has sprung. And we are starting
01:47with a film that might inspire you to get spring cleaning. Yes, one of the stars of the BBC series
01:53Sort Your Life Out, Ewan Carrington, is finding out how the cleaning industry is setting its
01:57sights on a new generation of talent.
02:01From filthy to flawless, online cleaning videos are oddly satisfying and wildly popular.
02:08But while millions watch them, the cleaning industry is still struggling to attract new workers.
02:13For Matthew, though, on a cleaning operative apprenticeship at Manchester's Piccadilly
02:17Station, the job is a source of real pride.
02:21There's a lot of different aspects with cleaning that I wouldn't really know about until I was
02:26doing this apprenticeship. Like the chemicals, waste removal, cleaning up biohazards.
02:32Is there anything about your job you find particularly satisfying?
02:35The reactions of other people say, oh, they go, well, thank you for making the train clean
02:40and stuff like that. That makes me happy within my job.
02:43Hello, you joined me in the bath today.
02:45I started cleaning in my local pub as a teenager. And like Matthew, that job gave me skills for
02:51life.
02:51So with youth unemployment rising and with AI taking more kerical and finance falls, I'm wondering
02:58whether cleaning could be a profitable career path that others have overlooked.
03:04To find out where cleaning could lead, I caught up with Jay, who got his first job after leaving
03:09school with no formal qualifications.
03:11My first working day was cleaning toilets.
03:14Hands down as well as hands on.
03:15Hands down as well as hands on.
03:15So yeah, that was my first shift was actually a hands-on cleaning operator.
03:20Within a year, Jay joined the firm's management trainee scheme. Two decades later, he's running
03:25the company.
03:26It's worth about Β£40 million a year revenue now.
03:29Wow.
03:29I've now worked on five different continents, nine different countries. I've done Olympic
03:33Games. I was there when Lando Norris won the Formula One last year, cleaning up after
03:38160,000 fans. I could have never imagined that my career would be here.
03:43Jay's story might be exceptional, but progression in cleaning isn't. From frontline roles to tech,
03:48logistics and management, there's room to grow.
03:51Do you think it's an industry that kind of gets overlooked?
03:53100%. It's definitely looked at a bottom rung industry that you get a job in because you
03:58couldn't get a job in anywhere else. But the reality of that is so far from it. Whatever
04:02you want to do, chances are in the cleaning industry, we can do it for you. Whether it
04:05be robotics, analytics, marketing, human resources, accounting, operations.
04:12The Department for Work and Pensions says it's working with the Cleaning and Support Services
04:17Association to open up new opportunities for job seekers. And as the cleaning industry has
04:23an ageing workforce, to attract young blood, it's taking its message into schools.
04:27Well, we're here today to talk about the cleaning industry. Any of you want a job in cleaning?
04:33No?
04:35Clean Start is a programme which promotes the sector as a long term career and offers hands
04:39on experience. When you think of a cleaner, what do you imagine?
04:43Mop and a bucket. Mop and bucket. Yeah, boring. Okay. Is there anything particularly that's
04:49really surprised the kids you've been talking to?
04:51The cleaning industry is a global industry. And for some people, the opportunity to travel,
04:56the opportunity to work abroad, work for a major company and the job security is there,
05:00is a big draw.
05:01Cleaning doesn't mean getting a mop and bucket and cleaning the floors. Did you all see the
05:04robot before?
05:05Yeah.
05:06So that does all that for you. You said you want to get engineering?
05:08Yeah.
05:09Well, we need engineers and mechanics and technicians to make machines like that. I work in the cleaning
05:14sector but I don't actually do any cleaning. I work in marketing. We build websites,
05:18we do social media. I've been in this job 11 years now and I absolutely love it.
05:22I'm keen to find out whether the pupils here have been convinced by what they've heard today.
05:28Cleaning makes me think of a boring job and like kind of miserable. Yeah.
05:32But when I've heard their talk about it, I think it could be really good with all these different
05:38robots and everything like that. Could you see yourself potentially working
05:41in the cleaning industry one day?
05:42Mmm, maybe because like I like the marketing but like the cleaning itself maybe not because
05:48like it's not really my thing.
05:51Everybody has to clean.
05:53Could you see yourself doing a role in the cleaning industry potentially?
05:56Yeah, I could see myself doing it.
05:57Oh nice. And what sort of roles do you think you would do?
06:00Probably more like the practical, like the building the robots, you know, like maybe even designing them.
06:05Do you think cleaning could be cool?
06:07Yeah.
06:07Oh great.
06:10With the government focused on tackling long-term youth unemployment and an industry with clear
06:15roots into skilled work, cleaning may not be the shining choice, but for some it could offer
06:20a sparkling start to a career.
06:24Great to see how many different opportunities are out there in the cleaning industry.
06:27Yes.

07:31Please welcome to the show stars of Celebrity Sabotage, Judy Love and GK Barry, and of course,
07:36much-loved entertainer Les Dennis.
07:39Lovely to be here.
07:42So lovely to see you.
07:44Let's dive straight in then to Celebrity Sabotage, because we saw it there.
07:48Honestly, we loved watching the first episode.
07:51So funny.
07:52So it's hidden cameras, like pretend programs, chaos, basically.
07:56I'm glad you said the word chaos, but with a lot of laughter and a lot of fun.
08:00I mean, you're in this massive house.
08:02There's four of us, myself, Joel, Sam and you.
08:05And then we're in this basement, which is the headquarters.
08:08And contestants are coming in truly thinking that they're playing a particular game.
08:12So, like, almost like an apprenticeship, a relationship couple goals game and, you know,
08:17and have a cooking show, which I was the host for.
08:20And so they're really passionate about it, which makes it even better that we're going
08:24to cause so much, like, you know, disruption so that we can win them money in the end.
08:30But let me tell you something.
08:31This show is crazy, but it's exactly what you need on a Saturday night.
08:36Yeah, it's a good show for the family to sit down and just laugh.
08:40Yeah.
08:41So let's talk about episode one, because we've got a fake show.
08:44It's called The Applicant.
08:45Isn't that right?
08:45With Sarah Davis.
08:47And so tell us about some of the pranks you have to pull off to win money for the contestants.
08:51My first challenge, like first episode, I was new in.
08:55I had to throw fake bird poo on all of the contestants.
08:59I didn't realise that the spoon is actually quite loosely gripped into my hand.
09:04So I nearly knocked a few contestants out because I threw the spoon as well.
09:08But we had loads of stuff, didn't we?
09:10We had the champagne tower that you had to knock over during the wedding shoot.
09:14Can you just say, I think you've got me on all fours.
09:17That's all I'm saying.
09:17And amen to that.
09:19Are you both pranksters in real life?
09:21Do you like pranking people?
09:22You know what?
09:23A little bit.
09:23I did prank my daughter once for her birthday and said to her,
09:27oh, you know, Stormzy, you're going to meet Stormzy.
09:29But he's turning up at the surprise party.
09:32And it wasn't so.
09:33I don't know if that's pranking or just evil.
09:35That's disappointing.
09:36That's not pranking.
09:37But I didn't make it up because one time I went out and Stormzy was there
09:39and, you know, him and his crew, they dropped me home.
09:42And I said to my daughter, come outside.
09:43I'm feeling a bit ill.
09:44When she came out, opened the door.
09:46Stormzy.
09:46Wow, what a day.
09:47So, I mean, we're doing the same.
09:49We're pranking you, but then you're going to get money at the end.
09:52We make up for it, yeah.
09:53So, it's a beautiful thing.
09:54With fake bird poo.
09:56If you're surprised by that, when it seems to be the other stuff.
10:00And Grace, there was one prank, though,
10:02that even fooled the production team, wasn't there?
10:05Yeah, well, during the baking type series,
10:08I had to swap the sugar for salt.
10:10And then, obviously, the catering company that was giving us all food
10:13didn't realise and they thought, oh, there's sugar there.
10:16They baked everyone a cake.
10:18All the crew that had been working for hours was the worst cake ever.
10:22So, technically, I did sabotage them as well.
10:24It was a long day to be on that shoot.
10:26Yeah, it was great.
10:27It really was great.
10:28I'm not going to lie.
10:29You know, I did things in that show that I never thought I would do.
10:32No.
10:33And it was such a bond.
10:34And production, they are insane.
10:37The fact that they're doing a whole show, which is a sabotage,
10:40and then they've got all these other shows.
10:42I don't know how they did it, but they were fantastic.
10:44It's a lot.
10:44Yeah, it was a lot.
10:45Les, do you think it'd be a good answer?
10:47I'd be a rubbish prankster, because I just, you know, if I go to prank somebody, I always go,
10:53I'm only joking.
10:54I give it away too quickly.
10:56I don't like to prank people.
10:58It feels bad.
10:59Yeah, it feels bad.
11:00Oh, but it's so funny.
11:01It starts to get a little bit high on the bad.
11:05Yeah.
11:06And, Grace, you also got to meet a hero of yours on the show.
11:08Yeah, so obviously, Claire Balding is the original lesbian.
11:11You was obsessed.
11:12I was obsessed.
11:13I was like, you paved the way for us lesbian.
11:16So I managed to also present on one of the days.
11:20They didn't realise I was part of it.
11:21So I fake present with her, and I just spoke that woman's ear off about dogs.
11:25Has she kept in contact with you?
11:27No.
11:27Yeah.
11:30I don't know yet.
11:31I don't know why.
11:32I'm sure one day she'll invite me to Crofts, but it must have just got lost in the post.

13:19So to come, Les will be telling us about bringing hit musical Waitress to theatres across the UK.
13:23But first, we have a powerful film for you as Michelle Ackley opens up about living with a condition
13:29that hugely impacts women all over the world.
13:32To mark Endometriosis Awareness Month, she's been to meet others like her to share their experiences.
13:40Every month, excruciating agony.
13:43I was dismissed. I was told that it was all in my head.
13:46On top of all of that pain, I also was experiencing extreme fatigue and brain fog.
13:51Around 10% of women in the UK are affected by endometriosis, including me.
13:58It's a condition that never really got talked about, which resulted in me feeling incredibly isolated.
14:05Endometriosis can cause inflammation and damage, mainly in a woman's pelvic area.
14:11Jodie Riley has lived with it since she was 14.
14:14It feels like something's stabbing me from the inside out.
14:18I'm so focused on the pain, it just puts me off doing anything.
14:24You get told it's like part of being a woman, and it's like, this feels horrible.
14:30Yeah.
14:31It's mentally and physically exhausting.
14:33I remember having such intense stomach pains that I couldn't walk.
14:38I was crawling, thinking, is this normal?
14:42Did you ever get people saying things like, use a hot water bottle, it'll be fine?
14:47Ways too many times.
14:48It makes me feel sad because I just want a normal life.
14:53It makes me feel sad listening to you, Jodie.
14:57On average, it takes women more than nine years to get a diagnosis, and for Jodie, it was 10.
15:04But now she's been referred to a specialist unit at the Royal Freak Hospital in London for innovative robotic treatment.
15:11Mr. Fevzi Shakir is her consultant gynaecologist.
15:15Endometriosis is a condition where the cells similar to those found in the lining of the womb can be found
15:23in different parts of the body.
15:24When those cells flare up, that can cause inflammation, scarring, and lead on to many other symptoms.
15:32And if you have a delayed diagnosis, unfortunately, it can sometimes progress and can cause issues such as difficulty conceiving.
15:41It is hard to diagnose.
15:43Even scans can miss it completely.
15:45But Jodie's MRI clearly shows signs of endometriosis.
15:49On the left-hand side here, there is some scarring in that area.
15:53The next step for Jodie will be to perform a robotic-assisted laparoscopic procedure.
15:59I'm feeling nervous. My heart's in my throat, but I'm looking forward to being able to live pain-free.
16:07The robotic assistance during the procedure means greater precision with reduced recovery times.
16:15Four metal tubes or ports are inserted into Jodie's abdomen.
16:19We then attach the robotic device onto the ports, and that gives us that control from this console.
16:26The camera gives Fevzi an incredible 3D view of the areas he needs to operate on, and the robotic assistance
16:34keeps it perfectly stable.
16:36It's a bit like a video game. We're actually driving a car.
16:39So you've got your controls, and that can also allow you to switch and manipulate the camera.
16:47An infrared view shows important areas to avoid, highlighted with green dye.
16:52By switching between the different tools, Fevzi's able to remove all the abnormal tissue.
16:58I mean, it was a challenging case. It was more widespread than we initially thought,
17:02but I feel that we've got the best outcome for Jodie, and I'm really hopeful that it will improve her
17:07quality of life.
17:10Hello! You look fantastic!
17:13Yeah, I'm feeling, like, a whole lot of a difference.
17:18I don't feel a little sharp stabbing pain.
17:22Wow.
17:22I'm looking forward to being the new me.
17:26It's great to see how well Jodie's doing already.
17:30I had surgery 10 years ago, which made a huge difference to my life.
17:34And...
17:35After continued treatment, last year, I became a mum.
17:39Which was something I'd previously worried might never happen.
17:43Every woman's experience with endometriosis is different.
17:47But as we talk about it more, and the technology moves on...
17:51Hopefully, it'll lead to easier diagnosis and better treatment, so no-one has to suffer in silence.

18:10Did we want to bring you in because you've talked previously about having the condition,
18:14and how important it is to talk about it?
18:15I mean, it really is, because I think, for women, you know, when you have got endometriosis,
18:20especially at the first stage where you're not even aware, but you know you feel different,
18:23you know the pain is extreme, it's usually just kind of brushed off.
18:27You're like, oh, it's a bad period.
18:28And you'll get into a stage where it's hard for you to function, go to work, your daily routine.
18:32So I remember it took me some years to get diagnosed,
18:35and it was just...
18:37It was one of those moments where you wasn't even sure what it was about,
18:40so you didn't really want to talk to anybody about it.
18:42So having this kind of information and these new ways of treatment is so important,
18:46especially for young girls to come out and know that there is people trying to fight for them
18:50and find other ways for them to just feel more comfortable in their body.
18:54Yeah, it's crippling, see, isn't it?
18:55It really is.

19:05But time now to talk theatre, because Lazio is returning to the stage
19:09in the heartwarming musical Waitress.
19:11Now, the story follows a talented baker called Jenna
19:14who works in a small-time diner and feels trapped in an unhappy marriage
19:18until she finds a potential escape
19:21when she hears about a local pie baking contest with a big cash prize.
19:24So, Lazio, you pay...

19:29You play Joe.
19:31Old Joe, as he's called.
19:33Old Joe.
19:34Tell us how Old Joe fits into the story.
19:36Well, the story is basically about female friendship and empowerment, you know,
19:42and Jenna, played by the wonderful Carrie Hope Fletcher.
19:46I'm old Joe who runs, he owns the pie shop,
19:49and he becomes a kind of surrogate father for her.
19:53You know, he can see what's going on.
19:56Her relationship with her husband isn't good.
19:59Her friends are trying to get her out of that.
20:01But Joe sees that if she goes for this pie competition,
20:05she's got a chance, because she bakes amazing pies.
20:07Better than you did.
20:08Well, listen, anyone else could, Joe.
20:12So, it's a lovely show.

20:17So, I mean, it's a beautiful score and a wonderful cast.
20:21And, you know, it is about big themes,
20:23but it's funny, it's heartwarming,
20:26and you come out really feeling on top of the world.

20:56Have you got, behind the scenes, like, a huge baking team
21:00that are making fresh stuff?

21:03There are fresh pies in the play, absolutely.
21:06It's a cholesterol nightmare.
21:08Dr Pomata, played by Dan Partridge,
21:11he has to eat the pies that Jenna makes.
21:14So, he loves the pies.
21:17So, you've got some fake ones.
21:18Some fake ones and some real ones.
21:20Some real ones, OK.
21:20Now, Les Theatre has always been a passion of yours,
21:23and we'd love you to tell us about when you went to the theatre
21:25and saw Shakespeare at 17.
21:27Yes.
21:27And how that really made a huge impression on you.
21:29I went with the school.
21:31I went to see Twelfth Night with the school,
21:33and we were reading it at school,
21:34and I thought, I don't really get this.
21:36But I went to see it and just absolutely loved it.
21:39There was an actor called Emrys James
21:41who played Festate the Clown,
21:43and I remember thinking, I want to do that one day.
21:46And when I was, because I did get to do Twelfth Night recently
21:51at the age of 71, from 17 to 71, and I got to do it,
21:57I was Googling it and thought,
21:59wonder who was in that production that I saw?
22:01And it was Judi Dench.
22:03Oh, wow.
22:04You can't get better.
22:05And Donald Sinden as Malvolio.
22:07So, it was an amazing...
22:08You just had Judi Dench there in that production.
22:11It just changed my life,
22:13and it made me think, I want to one day do some Shakespeare.
22:16It took me a while, but I got there.
22:17You got there.
22:18Yeah.
22:19And you've done loads of musicals.
22:20You've done Chicago, Only Fools and Horses.
22:23But, of course, it was Michael Ball
22:25that had you in fits of giggles on the stage, didn't he?
22:29We did Hairspray together,
22:30and, you know, if there is a prankster,
22:33Michael is on the show,
22:34because he is the funniest man,
22:37and there's a glint in his eye.
22:39Oh, there is.
22:39Naughty, naughty little glint.
22:41When he's naughty, yeah.
22:42I mean, we had a number, Timeless, to me,
22:45where we had to create laughter for the audience,
22:48and it was kind of like,
22:50to some ways, that we had to joke and laugh.
22:53But beyond that, he was, you know,
22:55he would do things that just...
22:56And I had to stand there with two candy flosses,
23:01and I was just shaking behind the candy floss,
23:04thinking I shouldn't be laughing,
23:05but I couldn't help it.
23:06He's just one of those wonderful...
23:07He's got me in trouble lots of times on this show,
23:10that I'll tell you.
23:11Well, Waitress, the musical,
23:13starts next Saturday at the new Wimbledon Theatre,
23:16and then travels all across the UK and Ireland
23:18until October.
23:20Now, with less than six weeks to go
23:22until the London Marathon,
23:22over 55,000 runners are busy preparing
23:25to take on 26.2 miles around the city.
23:27Oh, that's a long way, isn't it?
23:28But for those also observing Ramadan,
23:30they have added the challenge of staying connected,
23:32of course, to their faith alongside training.
23:35Here's Keen Runner and Race Across the World star,
23:37Iman Chowdhury, to tell us more.
23:41For many people, running is a lifeline.
23:44I'm Iman Chowdhury.
23:45I've run 16 marathons,
23:47and in 2020, I won Race Across the World
23:49with my nephew, Jameel.
23:51For the past month,
23:53I've been observing Ramadan
23:54and training for my next marathon,
23:56so I still have to run.
23:59I used to think running during Ramadan
24:01would distract me from what's important,
24:03but it's been quite the opposite.
24:06During Ramadan,
24:08millions of Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.
24:11To make sure I train well
24:12and observe Ramadan well,
24:14I make an early start.
24:16It's 4am.
24:17I'm pretty tired.
24:18This is Suho,
24:19the meal before the fast starts.
24:21This is my go-to breakfast.
24:24Oats and dates.
24:25Plenty of energy to last me the whole day.
24:28After breakfast,
24:29I head for the mosque.
24:30So it's 10 past 5 in the morning,
24:32and I'm just about to go into the mosque
24:34to start the first prayer of the day.
24:36The discipline of attending these first prayers
24:38sets me up for the day.
24:40I'll pray five times altogether
24:42before sun sets.
24:45Some of my friends are also marathon training
24:47while fasting,
24:48and I've invited them to my local park run
24:50in Saltzair near Bradford,
24:52along with my daughter Lily.
24:58One of the runners in training is Amara Patel,
25:01a specialist breast cancer pharmacist from Leeds.
25:03I don't feel that there has been a compromise
25:06with running and observing Ramadan.
25:09Running itself teaches you so much self-discipline.
25:12You know, there's times when you're running
25:13and you really want to stop,
25:14but you have to mentally teach yourself to keep going.
25:19For me, for example,
25:20when I'm running,
25:20it sort of resets everything for the whole month.
25:23You're just starting fresh.
25:24I found it a challenge,
25:26I'm not going to lie.
25:27I've enjoyed doing it, though,
25:28because it is incredible
25:29seeing what your body's capable of,
25:33especially when you're fasting.
25:35We made it around the 5K course,
25:37but it'll be a few hours
25:38until we can grab a drink.
25:40We don't just abstain from food and water
25:42during the day.
25:43We also give up other things
25:44for our spiritual health.
25:46What was the most toughest thing
25:48training during Ramadan?
25:49Not being able to listen to music.
25:51When you're struggling
25:51in the last stages of a run,
25:53you put your headphones in
25:54and try and get through it,
25:55and not being able to do that
25:56has been tricky.
25:57I think it's just understanding
25:59what your body is capable of.
26:00Impressive, to be honest.
26:01I don't know how you do it.
26:02Having trained for marathons myself,
26:04I don't know how you do it
26:04without food or drink.
26:06It's a bit much for me.
26:07I wouldn't be able to do that.
26:08After a long day of fasting and running,
26:10we will finally get to eat and drink together.
26:13This evening, I've invited all my friends down
26:16to have iftar together at my house.
26:20Iftar is breaking our fast at sunset,
26:22and in Ramadan, we often share it
26:24with friends and family,
26:25and it's really needed
26:26after all that exercise.
26:29Normally, when you do a long run,
26:30you're fueling throughout the run,
26:32whereas this time,
26:33because you've been fasting,
26:34so you come home and you're like,
26:36OK, give me all the food.
26:38This is probably the best part, though,
26:40when you break fast
26:41with lots of people together.
26:42That's the main bit.
26:43Yeah.
26:44It's not the food,
26:45it's the company.
26:47Tonight is extra special
26:48because we are also looking forward to Eid,
26:51which marks the end of the month of Ramadan.
26:53Food is a huge part of it,
26:55and so is getting the family together.
26:57For us, Eid is with aunties, uncles,
27:00grandparents, like,
27:02everybody coming together.
27:04Although Ramadan is about discipline and sacrifice,
27:07we're all going to miss it.
27:08Because you've had a whole month
27:09of spending it with your mum, your dad,
27:11like, your family,
27:12seeing all your friends, like,
27:14every day at the mosque,
27:14and then all of a sudden it just stops.
27:16Do you know, I find it a bit bittersweet, though,
27:18because although there's that sadness
27:20that Ramadan is coming to an end,
27:22there's also the excitement of Eid day
27:24because everybody comes together then,
27:26and you all, like, get to
27:29have this big meal together,
27:30and you get the excitement of, like,
27:32you know, when you do secret Eid
27:33or you've got presents for the kids.
27:35Making and sharing sweets with friends and neighbours
27:38is a big feature of Eid,
27:39so we're finishing with the cake Amara has just brought round.
27:43So, we know where we're going on Eid now.

27:48The last few days have been amazing,
27:50both physically and mentally.
27:52I'm really looking forward to Eid,
27:54but I've got to keep training.
