In a concerning case highlighting the misuse of artificial intelligence, a youth from Ambaji in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district has been detained for creating and circulating an AI-generated video that allegedly tarnished the image of the police.

According to officials, the video was uploaded on Instagram from the ID “kako.009”. It showed a युवक wearing a birthday crown and holding a sword, while three policemen in uniform were depicted kneeling with folded hands in front of him. A police vehicle was also visible in the clip. The video was accompanied by provocative text aimed at spreading fear.

The clip quickly went viral on social media, triggering outrage and raising concerns over the misuse of AI to create misleading and offensive content.

Acting swiftly, Ambaji police launched an investigation and identified the video as AI-generated. The accused was traced to Vikram Kharadi, who was subsequently detained by the police.

Officials stated that the youth was taken into custody, counselled about legal consequences, and made to apologise. Police also created and released an “after-before” video to raise awareness and caution others against such activities.

Authorities said the action serves as a strong warning to those misusing technology and social media to spread provocative or defamatory content. Police emphasised that strict legal action will be taken against individuals attempting to defame institutions or create panic using AI tools.

The incident underscores growing concerns around the unchecked use of artificial intelligence and its potential to distort reality, mislead the public, and harm reputations.
