Intervistato da Graeme Boyd, il creative director di Turn 10, Dan Greenawalt spiega in questo video il funzionamento del cloud gaming in relazione a Forza Motorsport 5. Ciò che la tecnologia di Xbox One fa, in pratica, è assimilare il nostro comportamento in pista per poi creare un avatar nel cloud che guida esattamente come noi e che va ad affrontare altri giocatori nei panni di un pilota controllato dalla CPU. 00:12I'm doing well.
00:13Good, so I want to hear about how Forza Motorsport 5 is using the new generation powers of Xbox One,
00:19and also the power of the cloud as well.
00:21The cloud allows us to move learning AI into the cloud and make it more like big data,
00:25having that AI be less like AI and actually more like real people.
00:29So it's learning how you behave, it's evolving over time, it's evolving based on the entire community.
00:34So this is about bringing AI closer to how real players drive, right?
00:40Absolutely, and you can imagine how that would work in a first person shooter or an action game,
00:44where your squad mates or your friends and your family behaving the way they would in a multiplayer game.
00:50You also get worlds that could have evolved based on my actions and your actions,
00:54where destroying buildings or running a tank across a street
00:57actually has an effect in your world and my world, and we can play asynchronously.
01:02It allows you to create your own game just through your behavior.
01:05It's a conversation between us and the community.
01:07That's something I don't think it's talked about a lot, and I'm really excited about,
01:10because community is the heart of Forza, but it's also the heart of great gaming.
01:14Drivatar is something that's been in Forza Motorsport for a long time,
01:17but in Forza Motorsport 5, because of the cloud, it's really a whole new level, right?
01:23This one is actually all new.
01:25It's got the same name, and it still is a learning network,
01:27but the cloud allowed us to totally revamp it, rethink it, rethink the entire problem.
01:32So what this system does is looks at how you drive, the behaviors you do,
01:36and it brings that up into the cloud and crunches on those numbers and builds a profile.
01:41It builds an avatar that races for you against the world, against your friends and family.
01:45But there's also a benefit to me as a player, right?
01:47My Drivatar is out there racing even when I'm not playing on my Xbox One.
01:52When you boot the game back up, you start playing,
01:54you're going to get a report on the type of work that that Drivatar was doing.
01:58So in many ways, you never stop playing.
02:00And also, because your friends are coming into your race, you never race alone.
02:03You're telling me that Drivatar evolves over time.
02:07So if I, as a Forza player, get better,
02:10my Drivatar is going to know that and get better as well, right?
02:12Yes, as you get better as a player, as you advance,
02:15it is going to learn how you drive and it's going to update.
02:18But also, the system, the cloud, it's like big data, it's like search.
02:22It learns from the entire world.
02:24So as it gets more and more people playing, it's going to learn new behavior.
02:27So that means we've seen behavior that we didn't teach it to do.
02:31Driving three abreast through a corner, faking people out, and that's what's so exciting.
02:35So the system you're going to race at launch day is different than the system a week, two weeks, three
02:39weeks later.
02:40So what other benefits is cloud bringing to multiplayer in Forza 5?
02:45Now it's almost effortless for developers to hook up dedicated servers
02:49and give you higher quality matches where you have less lag,
02:52you have very quick pickup times, and you can just get in, sit down, and play.
02:57So playing someone from another part of the world,
02:59you've got a dedicated server, the lag doesn't nail you down.
03:02Now, you've always been a very big supporter of the Forza community.
03:06What does the cloud allow you to do now to support that community even more?
03:10As developers, we can update our game, and it's not necessarily through title updates
03:14or bug fixing that people have seen in the past.
03:17We can now just add new challenges into the game.
03:19We can put new achievements in.
03:21We can give you new things to do.
03:23But also, we can see what is the community doing?
03:25What are they enjoying or not enjoying?
03:27Let them vote with their actions, and we can double down on those.
03:30So if people are really liking drag racing, we can add more drag racing.
03:33And they don't have to request it.
03:34We'll just see that people are enjoying it.
