00:10I'm still pinching myself that we're doing this.
00:13This car, I think, represents the very best of what we can achieve.
00:19It's not just some components put together to make a car,
00:23it's the passion of the people involved in it.
00:26I truly believe we have one of the best design teams in the world.
00:30When you've got a tremendously talented group of people that can come together
00:34and execute something like this, it's very gratifying.
00:37I think there'll be a big emotional connection for a lot of people with this car.
00:42This is just a whole other level above and beyond where we've been so far.
00:48We always get asked, when are we going to do the next Ford GT?
00:58We're looking at 2016, which is the 50th anniversary of us winning the 24 Hours Le Mans.
01:04In fact, coming in 1, 2, 3.
01:06We really felt, it's the 50th anniversary. We have to do something.
01:10We wanted to create a modern supercar.
01:14But we wanted to still hark back in some way to the heritage of Ford Motor Company and the GT.
01:19This car is so special to so many different people and it has such an important legacy that we just
01:25couldn't resist doing another version.
01:27When we analyzed the original GT40, there were some very, very strong key elements that we felt were intrinsic to
01:34make sure that when people see this car, it's very obvious what it is.
01:38We really have to honor the history of the car, so it's not a place to mess around with history
01:42and get too creative.
01:45The car floored me. It's really something else. It has the Ford GT heritage. You can see it instantly in
01:52the front.
01:52But as you travel along the sight lines of the car, it's really from another planet.
01:56This car is very forward looking. It's very futuristic. It harkens back to the real iconic details of the original
02:03Ford GT, but it really is very much an artifact from the future.
02:07There's a water line that runs around the nose, just below the headlights. That water line has a negative cutback.
02:15And that was something that was always on the original GT40. The headlights tend to be more squared off.
02:22It's not just styled. It's very intentional. Everything is there for a purpose.
02:26We're targeting over 600 horsepower, so with this small compact V6, we really have extraordinary power density from this engine.
02:34Clearly, performance is one of the most important drivers of this car, as much as on the exterior as it
02:40is on the interior.
02:41The design reflects all the simplicity that gives that feeling of performance and lightness.
02:47I think when you look at the car, you can probably see it could only be made now.
02:51I think we probably couldn't have built this car in terms of the construction of the car 60 years ago.
02:56The use of carbon fiber allowed us to get some radical form executions because of the material finish.
03:03like the dash. The dash is a structural member of the tub.
03:07The tub is a structural part of the car. The dashboard is actually the cross car beam and gives the
03:14stiffness to the actual chassis.
03:16It's super lightweight, so it's the best material for creating an efficient product.
03:22The efficiency goes throughout the vehicle, from the structure, throughout the bodywork.
03:26The EcoBoost Twin Turbo V6 is the highest capacity EcoBoost we've produced.
03:32It's pure in its essence. Its primary function is to be a performance car, to go fast.
03:39So what you see is a very, very simple interior, but actually everything is readily available for the driver.
03:46This car is really pushing many boundaries as a GT car. It's pushing many boundaries as a sports car.
03:53And that's where a simulation really comes into play.
03:55I think the whole concept of gaming is one of those things that is very important in making a connection
04:01to customers
04:02and creating that real sense of participation in the product and really driving the aspirational nature of the product.
04:09With the way video games have evolved and driving simulators have evolved, you get a much more true sense of
04:14what the ownership experience is about.
04:16You know, way back in the 70s, kids just had a poster on a wall, but it was enough.
04:21This beautiful image on the wall was enough to drive a passion.
04:25What Forza brings to those guys is it brings the poster on the wall to life.
04:30There's not going to be a lot of these cars made and not everyone's going to be able to drive
04:33one,
04:33but now you can actually do it virtually and I think that's going to be even added to the excitement
04:37of the car.
04:38Great brands have really great stories to tell.
04:40And I think Forza gives us a new opportunity to kind of tell that story to a new audience.
04:46What a cool moment this is.
04:4810 years of Ford's anniversary, 50 years since the winning GT40 at Le Mans.
04:53The original Ford GT was one of those cars that made us all fall in love with cars to begin
04:57with.
04:57So to be a part of this and to create a new future legacy for the Ford GT and to
05:02continue that, it's extremely exciting.
05:04There's always something as an engineer that, you know, I wish we had done this a little different and that's
05:09the nature of an engineer.
05:10There's always something you're looking to improve, but right now there isn't, there isn't a single line I'd change on.
05:15I wanted this to be a beautiful piece of product design.
05:19People to look at this and say, yes, it's a great tool that does a purpose.
05:23Yes, I see the heritage, but my God, it's gorgeous too.
05:35Well, you know, all I've heard about it is that...
05:37have you seen the realge of a new identity of a new Ford GT one or two?
05:37Yeah.
05:38And I hope you've heard the whole story.
05:38I'm a new model and I'm a new model.
