00:07I'm Dan Touch, President of N-Space and Director of Sword Coast Legends,
00:11a 1-4 player D&D RPG that brings together the gameplay experience
00:14between players and a Dungeon Master.
00:17In this two-part series, we're going to show you both player and Dungeon Master gameplay,
00:21starting this week with single player.
00:24Today we're joined by Tim Schwoak, our Design Director.
00:27Tim's adventure has led him deep into the sewers beneath the city of Luskin.
00:31He's out for revenge, searching for the Ashen Priest,
00:34a necromancer responsible for the slaughter of his order, the Burning Dawn.
00:39Tim's contact in Luskin may know the whereabouts of the Ashen Priest,
00:42but the city gates are closed, forcing him to find another way in.
00:46You can see he has a well-balanced traditional D&D party,
00:50with a fighter, rogue, cleric, and wizard.
00:53He can select an individual, a group, or the entire party,
00:57and give them a wide range of commands.
01:02He can also pan, rotate, and zoom the camera to get a better view of the action.
01:10Yes.
01:14Is this really the only way into Luskin?
01:17Unless you want to storm the gates and deal with those cards.
01:21That is.
01:23There weren't that many cards.
01:25As Tim searches for a way into Luskin, he finds this alchemy table.
01:29He can search it, possibly finding more loot, or even another quest.
01:32All rewards for exploring with his party.
01:40Look, a fresh corpse.
01:42I'd think the Ashen Priest would have burned him to a crisp.
01:45This fool wasn't killed by your necromancer, you idiot.
01:49It was cut down by a blade from behind.
01:51We're in dead rats turf.
01:54I'm starting to feel like this was a bad plan.
01:58Tim has stumbled across this poor soul, a victim of the dead rats,
02:01one of the gangs that inhabit the sewers beneath Luskin.
02:03Now, it wouldn't really be right to leave this body here.
02:06Well, not without looting it first.
02:08And it turns out he did have some nice gear.
02:10A plus two longsword.
02:12Sword Coast Legends has a fully featured party inventory
02:15that allows the player to customize each party member.
02:18Tim is going to equip his fighter with his plus two longsword.
02:22And he's going to give his cleric this ring of regeneration.
02:34It looks like Tim has found some dead rats up ahead.
02:36Look out, across that bridge.
02:39Sword Coast Legends features tactical, party-based combat with pause and play
02:42like many classic RPGs such as Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age Origins.
02:49Tim will give his party some commands and unpause the game.
03:01Now, pause and play is optional, so if you're feeling confident, you can play without it.
03:04Yes?
03:11What can I do for you?
03:15That's the Seal of Ship Kurth.
03:17Looks like one of their men is working with the dead rats.
03:21We should take it to Ship Kurth sometime after we get into Luskin.
03:25They'll want to know about this.
03:27It looks like these dead rats had a Seal of Ship Kurth,
03:30one of the five ruling factions of Luskin.
03:32Tim should follow up with their High Captain when he gets a chance.
03:36All right.
03:37Uh, shouldn't there be an exit around here somewhere?
03:41I don't know, lad.
03:42Maybe we should look for one?
03:44We know that the entrance to Luskin has to be down here somewhere,
03:47so Tim's going to have his rogue actively search the area.
03:52If you say so.
03:57Sure.
04:00Sounds like a plot.
04:03It looks like Tim has found a way into Luskin.
04:09Located far in the north along the Sword Coast,
04:11Luskin is often referred to as the City of Sales
04:14and serves as a gateway to the Spine of the World and Icewind Dale.
04:20Now that Tim has found his way into the city,
04:22he needs to get to the Cutlass Inn and meet with his contact.
04:26If you say so.
04:27Sounds like a plot.
04:28Yeah, yeah.
04:29I don't say this all that often, I know.
04:32But I could use a bath.
04:35Maybe when we're done with our contact at the Cutlass,
04:38we can stop and rest for a bit?
04:43By the looks of this guy, we appear to be close to the tavern.
04:46Sure.
04:53If you say so.
04:54This is the Cutlass Inn.
04:56It's here where the legendary barbarian Wolfgar met his wife, Deli Kurdi.
04:59Seems like a plot.
05:00You certainly took your time getting here.
05:03Tim's companions will react to his choices,
05:06creating a meaningful impact on his story.
05:11No, that's the second most important thing.
05:14Most important thing is, you made me wait.
05:17We were told you have information for us about the Ashen Priest.
05:21I never said that.
05:23I said I could get you information.
05:26Unfortunately, Luther, the guy with that information, is even later than you are.
05:35Like I told you before,
05:37I don't know why you'd want to go after the Ashen Priest anyway.
05:40It's your funeral.
05:42Last time I spoke to Luther, he was making a trip out to the slums.
05:46Then I heard noise about undead in the cemetery out there,
05:50and nothing from him since.
05:52If someone got wind that Luther had information about the Ashen Priest,
05:57it's possible someone arranged an accident for him.
06:03Help yourself.
06:05I know I'm not going out there.
06:07It turns out that Tim's contact has gone missing.
06:10We need to get to the slums.
06:22Yeah, yeah.
06:26Alright.
06:28Isn't the sea sprite out there in the water somewhere?
06:31You know, Captain Dudermott's ship?
06:33That's it, or what's left of it.
06:36Well, imagine what Luskin would be like if he'd managed to clean the city up.
06:41Ain't we're speculating, lad.
06:43It didn't happen.
06:50Luskin is a rough city, but nowhere is it rougher than in the slums.
07:00And here you are.
07:02Of course, I'd find you close by while evil runs through the slums of Luskin.
07:08Tim is running to Sir Banigar.
07:09Now, Banigar is only here because we spared his life in a previous encounter.
07:14Tim may regret that decision now, and can choose to kill him.
07:17Or he could try to get his help.
07:21I...
07:22I know.
07:23I killed your friend, and still you spared my life.
07:27On that day, I saw the truth of your soul.
07:31That despite evil's grip on you, you remain capable of compassion.
07:35As long as that remains true, no knight who answers to me shall spill your blood this day.
07:46All who have entered here are assumed lost.
07:49Unlike yourselves, the undead here take no prisoners, leave no one alive.
07:55Given your mercy the last time we met, I'd be inclined to help you find your friend.
07:59If you'll have me.
08:04Come, if your friend is alive, then he hasn't much time.
08:08Ahead, my comrades.
08:10On to blessed victory.
08:12It looks like Tim's decided to ask for his help.
08:15Yeah, yeah.
08:16If you say so.
08:19Sure.
08:21This fight's going to be a little tougher.
08:23So Tim's going to have his cleric bless the party.
08:25He's going to have his rogue and wizard take out that archer,
08:28while his fighter tanks these zombies.
08:30And of course, now he has Banigar's help.
08:34Of course.
08:39Do you...
08:43What do you mean?
08:48Yes.
08:52We all saw much for our contact.
08:55Now what?
08:56Wait.
08:57This man's spine is broken in two.
09:00No normal zombie could do something like this.
09:04We must move on before these damned creatures claim another victim.
09:09It looks like Tim's search for his contact has come to an undead end.
09:27This ogre zombie is surrounded by undead.
09:30Can I help?
09:30So Tim's going to try to take care of them with a fireball before his party gets into melee range.
09:43What's up?
09:58What's up?
09:59Yes?
10:22Now I'm more confident than ever that the Ashen Priest is at the center of this, Tim will continue his
10:27quest for revenge next week.
10:28However, instead of finishing this quest in single player, we're going to create a dungeon crawl with the Ashen Priest
10:34and have Ross Gardner, our technical director, join Tim as Dungeon Master.
10:38Thank you for watching, and see you next week.
