00:06Last week, we watched Tim, our design director, on his hunt for the Ashen Priest, a necromancer responsible for the
00:12slaughter of his order, the Burning Dawn.
00:15Tim's close to locating the Ashen Priest.
00:18However, instead of finishing this quest in single player, we're going to create a dungeon crawl and have Ross Gardner,
00:24our technical director, join Tim as dungeon master.
00:27Ross is now customizing the dungeon crawl, selecting difficulty and size, along with specific tile and monster sets.
00:34He has decided to locate the Ashen Priest in a Durgar stronghold, deep within the Underdark.
00:39Typically, Drow and Durgar do not work together, but Ross has them working in an alliance to serve the Ashen
00:44Priest.
00:46Ross is actually the DM of our weekly tabletop D&D campaign, and while he's a fair DM, he does
00:52like to provide a challenge for his players.
00:54Stay close. We don't know what to expect down here.
00:59Monsters, traps, treasure, that sort of thing?
01:02Well, yes, that.
01:04You are now looking through the eyes of the dungeon master.
01:07The dungeon master's pointer is represented by a magical wisp on the player's screen, so players always know when the
01:13DM is near.
01:15The dungeon master's primary resource is DM Threat, which is generated by interacting with the players and providing them with
01:21a challenge.
01:21DMs can spend Threat to customize the experience for players, using it to change encounters, place traps, spawn monsters, and
01:29lock doors.
01:30All in real time.
01:32While Tim continues to explore the dungeon, Ross quickly moves from room to room to see what he's got to
01:37work with.
01:45Tim still has the Fog of War on his screen, and while Ross can see the entire dungeon, Tim cannot.
02:09Ross has noticed a great room to set up an ambush, however, he needs to buy some time, so he's
02:14going to spend some threat to lock the store and place a few traps to keep Tim busy.
02:26Throughout the adventure, the DM will find loot drops.
02:29DM loot keeps things fun for the DM and unpredictable for the players.
02:34It looks like Ross has found some loot that will allow him to summon a zombie horde.
02:42Tim's Rogue is the only character proficient in lock picking, so he needs to be the one to get this
02:47door open.
02:53While Tim deals with these traps, Ross is going to set up his ambush.
02:58First off, Ross spends some threat and changes the encounter to ambush.
03:02The red circle represents the ambush trigger.
03:05These spiders will spawn when Tim enters that trigger.
03:12Ross relocates the spiders to create his ideal ambush.
03:17And then spawns some drow to use for bait.
03:34Ross has also found a treasure hoard, and he knows how much Tim loves his rogue, so he hides the
03:38door, forcing him to hunt for it.
03:53It looks like Tim's fallen for the bait.
03:56Caught in Ross' ambush, Tim is now forced to fight on two fronts.
04:00Ross can also spend some additional threat to summon and even promote more monsters to make his ambush complete.
04:17I'm seriously hurt, you guys!
04:20I'm seriously hurt, you guys!
04:30I'm seriously hurt, you guys!
04:57Much to Ross' disappointment, Tim's rogue had a high enough passive perception to find the secret door.
05:05Tim decides to take a breather.
05:07He's going to loot these chests and outfit his party.
05:11If Tim takes too long, Ross can get him moving by spawning a wandering monster or using his DM loot
05:16to drop that zombie horde on Tim's rogue.
05:18I'm cursed.
05:22I'm sorry.
05:29I'm sorry.
05:41I'm sorry.
05:43Why did that happen?
05:44I'm sorry!
05:45I'm sorry.
05:53Timm spettare.
05:56Poi che ci sono attrazione, Tim si sta iniziando.
06:02Do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?
06:06All the time lad.
06:09All the time.
06:12I guess you just get used to it.
06:15It's in this room where Tim finally meets the Ashen Priest.
06:19Now prepare to burn!
06:25The Ashen Priest and his minions are a tough fight,
06:28especially when Ross takes direct control of the Ashen Priest.
06:33Ross now has direct access to the Ashen Priest's spells,
06:36including Flame Door, which allows him to teleport around the room.
07:07We saw Ross summon and promote creatures earlier, but he can actually do the opposite.
07:11He can demote creatures, even remove them, to better balance the fight.
07:39I'm seriously hurt, you guys!
07:57Can anyone heal me?
08:17With the Ashen Priest dead, Tim finally has his revenge.
08:20After all that, I could use a drink.
08:24A drink set at the tavern?
08:27First round's on me!
08:28We focused a lot on showing you how gameplay works with DM,
08:31but that's really just the tip of the iceberg.
08:33We have a lot more to show in the coming months, including campaign creation.
08:37Sword Coast Legends, an RPG that enables players to experience the magic of playing D&D together.
08:43We hope you enjoyed this two-part look into Sword Coast Legends.
08:45Thank you for watching.
