00:00I am Shazana Mohammed. Standing here today, I feel incredibly proud and grateful to have made a full score in
00:08the SEA 2026 examination.
00:12Yes, you did hear correctly. And she's not the only one who attained a perfect score at the 2026 SEA.
00:22I'm pleased to announce, and you always ask this question, what was the highest score?
00:30The highest composite standard score recorded, and that's the maximum score that you could make in the 2026 SEA School
00:43Entrance Assessment, was 253.423.
00:49And what is truly remarkable of our young achievers is that three students made that maximum score.
00:58But the ministry is reminding parents and students that the scores are subject to review.
01:04But I want to give a little warning here.
01:07As the Minister of Education and as the ministry, we have to be very careful and fair in how the
01:15final rankings are presented.
01:17Because students and parents still have that opportunity to seek reviews of their results through CXC.
01:28So I want to say that.
01:30And so the final ranking comes after that CXC review process is completed.
01:40A total of nine students received awards from the Ministry of Education today, as the ministry reports higher scores across
01:48the board at the SEA this year.
01:5117,509 students wrote the exam.
01:55In 2025, last year, 66.18% or 11,827 students scored above the 50% benchmark.
02:14This year, the figure improved to 70.73% of students, representing 12,384 students, an increase of 557.
02:32I think those students need a wonderful round of applause for that.
02:37But equally encouraging is that there was an increase in the above 90% achievers.
02:48In 2025, 421 students achieved scores of over 90%.
02:56In 2026, 670 students scored above 90%.
03:03A number of so-called priority schools also recorded better performances.
03:08This cohort will be the last to sit the SEA as is, as the ministry will be moving to introduce
03:15composite scoring,
03:17comprising 70% SEA scores and 30% continuous assessment scores.
03:24This progress at the SEA is being strengthened by the introduction of the continuous assessment component that we are bringing
03:33on stream from September 2026.
03:38We've also added enhanced AI-enabled learning resources, like the SEA Mathematics Past Paper Solutions platform.
