00:26:55So there's always been that pressure on me to be slim,
00:26:57and I'm generally not built that way.
00:26:59Throughout my childhood, I've been told to be a dancer.
00:27:02You have to be looking a certain way.
00:27:03You have to be skinny.
00:27:04To some people, slim means healthy,
00:27:06which is absolutely not the case, especially mentally.
00:27:09When you get to dance college,
00:27:11you have to stare at yourself in front of a mirror every day
00:27:12in the most unflattering, leotard and tights.
00:27:15It's quite damaging to the soul.
00:27:17From sort of the age of 15, I started not really eating, basically.
00:27:24I looked very ill, and I was probably about eight stone then.
00:27:29And considering I'm 5'8", that's ridiculous.
00:27:31It was a difficult time.
00:27:33You know, I've been put on food diaries,
00:27:35having my food literally monitored.
00:27:37God.
00:27:37So it took a while to get myself in a happy place.
00:27:40Eventually, I basically said, I don't want to do this anymore.
00:27:43I'm just going to be the size that I am.
00:27:45The thought is embedded into the industry of theatre and dance
00:27:48that you do have to look a certain way, you just won't work.
00:27:52So, of course, I was going to be unsuccessful,
00:27:55because I didn't look a certain way.
00:27:56I had to carve my own career, which is what led me to drag.
00:28:01If I hadn't have gone through all the things I've been through,
00:28:02I wouldn't be here right now.
00:28:03Exactly.
00:28:04But I've never been happier than I am now in this body.
00:28:07I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't have found drag.
00:28:09No one tells you what you have to look like.
