00:00Six major U.S. allies are sending a clear message to Iran.
00:04Stop attacking Gulf energy infrastructure and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
00:08In a joint statement, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, and the U.K.
00:13say that they're ready to help keep shipping safe and get the Strait,
00:16a vital passageway for nearly 20 percent of the world's oil, back up and running.
00:21The statement, which was issued by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's office,
00:25read in part, quote,
00:26We call on Iran to cease immediately. Its threats, laying of mines, drone and missile attacks,
00:32and other attempts to block the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping.
00:35Japan made its role in the alliance clear on Thursday during a sit-down between Prime Minister
00:40Senai Takeuchi and President Trump at the White House. Takeuchi condemned Iran's attacks and
00:46pledged support for regional stability. Trump praised Japan for stepping up and pressed allies to do
00:51more. Now, it remains to be seen what do more looks like, but the allied support the president
00:57has been clamoring for comes just as we've learned some practical costs of the war effort.
01:02According to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, it'll cost about 200 billion dollars to reload
01:08Americans' weapons stockpile after this undertaking.
01:10As far as 200 billion dollars, I think that number could move, obviously. It takes money to kill
01:19bad guys. So we're going back to Congress and our folks there to ensure that we're properly funded
01:25for what's been done, for what we may have to do in the future. Ensure that our ammunition is,
01:32everything's refilled and not just refilled, but above and beyond.
01:35In a dramatic turn on Capitol Hill, Democratic Senator John Fetterman broke ranks with his party
01:41to save Mark Wayne Mullen's nomination to lead the Department of Homeland Security.
01:45Fetterman's yes tipped the scales in favor of Mullen's bid to head one of the government's
01:50most powerful agencies. Critics slammed Fetterman's decision, saying it handed a win to a controversial
01:55pick. Supporters argued he followed his conscience in a tough moment. Republican Rand Paul,
02:00the chair of the Homeland Security Committee, made no secret of his dislike for Mullen.
02:05He voted no. Now, Mullen's nomination will head to the full Senate early next week,
02:09and he's expected to be confirmed.
02:12News no parent ever wants to hear in the search for a missing American college student in Barcelona.
02:18Police confirmed Thursday that they found the body of 20-year-old James Jimmy Gracie,
02:23a University of Alabama student who vanished during spring break.
02:26The Elmhurst, Illinois native was last seen in the wee hours of Tuesday morning
02:31outside of a popular beachfront nightclub in Barcelona. Gracie's body was recovered yesterday
02:35from the water near Somorosro Beach, ending a frantic multi-day search. Now, to give you an idea of
02:42the geography here, this beach is just steps away from where his friends say they last saw him around
02:473 a.m. Authorities used boats, divers, and aerial units to scour the coast, and his father even flew
02:54to Spain to join the search efforts. Now, police told CNN that they believe Gracie's death was a
02:58tragic accident and not a criminal act. For more on these stories and everything else you could
