05:21And the first time I messed it up, and then the second time I got it, and they actually cheered

06:38I'm like, yeah, I don't have makeup on, and I have two kids and a dog.
06:43And I feel like not getting advice helped me, because I've just been myself the entire time.
06:50And then Lindsay said that.
06:51She's like, just be genuine.
06:53Actually, Amanda, she shall not be named, said that in one of our meetings.
06:59She was like, if you're not yourself, you're just going to rewatch it and be like, why did I say

15:30The thing I'm most, excuse me, obsessed with is longevity.
15:35Base treatments like exosomes and PDGF and like ribonucleotide, all those things you're
15:40hearing about.
15:41They're taking in Sculptra, for example, regenerative medicine in Derm.
15:46You know, like vitamin C has been around forever and it's good, but there are so many things
15:51that are so much better now.
15:52So things that focus on rebuilding your own collagen.
15:56So like laser treatments, radiofrequency treatments and injectables that are biostimulatory rather
16:06than just filler or Botox.
16:07Yeah.
16:07Do you feel like you are seeing less and less hyaluronic acid fillers?
16:11Yes.
16:12And I've also, I've spent the past five years advising against them.
16:16Yeah.
16:16So people will come in and this is what they would want and I would suggest something like
16:19a laser or Sculptra or something like that.
16:22And my patients were obviously receptive to that and they all look great.
16:25But I'm glad that society is also kind of making that turn.

16:30Because the dissolving process is like not fun.
16:32I did under eye filler.
16:33It was a disaster.
16:34I had to dissolve it and it was just like.
16:35It's a disaster.
16:36It's unpredictable.
16:37You never know if it's going to work, how much is going to work.
16:39You have to do it a few times.
16:40Everybody thinks it's like, oh, I could just dissolve it.
16:42Yeah.
16:43If it were that easy, well, everybody will look good again.
16:46That's right.
16:47So true.
16:47It was like everybody would be dissolved.
16:49I also did nose filler and my skin or my body just rejected it and it was like spewing.
16:54It was spewing out of my nose.
16:56I went into derm because I had horrible acne when I was a kid and I'm still treating my
17:00own scars.
17:01Did you do Accutane?
17:02No, I wish I did.
17:03My derm didn't prescribe it.
17:05She actually diagnosed me with PCOS, which is like a hormonal thing.
17:09That was what leads to my acne and then I got better.
17:11But scars are like I look a thousand times better now than I did when I was in college.
17:17And it's still a work in progress.
17:19But I went to see somebody when I was a little resident or med student and he told me he
17:24could
17:24fill my scars and he put silicone right here.
17:27Oh, my God.
17:28And I'm still trying to get rid of this little patch.
17:30And like that day as a med student when I realized what happened and the guy was like
17:34such a prominent name.
17:36Wow.
17:37I was so you can't get rid of it.
17:39It's almost impossible.
17:40So I'm almost there.
17:41I got rid of a good amount of it.
17:43But I kind of decided like I have suffered through acne and these scars and now this person
17:48did something and that's kind of the day it switched for me.
17:50And I was like, I'm going to be a dermatologist and I'm going to make sure everybody gets treated
17:53the right way.
17:54I love that.

17:55I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

17:57How do you get rid of silicone?
17:59Because K. Michelle and Real Housewives of Atlanta might actually need your advice.
18:03So you basically have to laser down until it's out if you can.
18:08There are newer lasers now that go a lot deeper.
18:10I'm actually getting one in my office hopefully next week where usually lasers like the laser
18:15beam goes in to a certain point and that's what you're treating or it goes in and it kind
18:20of like spreads out.
18:21But now we've figured out a way where the laser on the surface, it's like a martini glass.
18:26So I love it.
18:28It's on the surface.
18:29It's wider.
18:30So like your skin on the surface won't get overheated or burned, but as it goes down,
18:36it goes into one point, which is much more easy to then deliver a ton of heat all the
18:40way down.
18:41So I think that'll be the future.
18:44You can't melt silicone.
18:45So that's why you basically have to just take the layer of skin off that has it in it.
18:50Listen, I'm a dermatologist.
18:51I've had everything available to me.
18:54So many things advertised for both acne scarring and removing silicone are totally not something
18:59that work.
19:01I recently, this past year, have figured out a protocol that really does seem to work
19:05for scars.
19:06I've only been able to do one treatment on myself.
19:08It was actually the day before Bravo interviewed me to be on this show.
19:12I showed up there like a freaking balloon and I can't show up to work like that.
19:17I'm a dermatologist, imagine?
19:18Oh, that's so true.
19:19So I have to find time this summer to do another treatment.
