00:00Eid's celebrations in Beirut this year are overshadowed by the sounds of war.
00:05As tensions escalate in West Asia, life in Lebanon remains deeply disrupted.
00:10While parts of the city marks Eid, fear, displacement and destruction dominate the ground reality,
00:16India Today's special report brings you this ground reality from Beirut.
00:20In the southern suburbs of Beirut, the contrast is stark.
00:24Eid is here, but there is little to celebrate.
00:26In parts of Beirut, streets wear a deserted look.
00:30Thousands who fled their homes after evacuation warnings and continuous strikes.
00:35Eid al-Fitr is divided across communities this year, but the mood remains sombre.
00:40The ongoing conflict has cast a shadow over what is usually a time of joy and togetherness.
00:46With fear, loss and uncertainty gripping the city, for many here, Eid is not a celebration, but a reminder of
00:54survival.
00:57I am currently in the Beirut city of Lebanon.
01:02Eid al-Fitr, the Eid after the holy month of Ramzan is being celebrated all across the Gulf nations.
01:09But in the Iran and other South Asian countries, Eid will be celebrated on Sunday.
01:17Here in Lebanon, some people are celebrating Eid today and for the Shia Muslims, Eid will be tomorrow.
01:24But the war between Iran, Israel and the U.S. which erupted in mid of the Ramadan, the people are
01:34shattered here.
01:35They have decided not to observe any happiness during this Eid.
01:41I am currently in the central Beirut.
01:43This is the building behind me which was bombed into the pieces on Wednesday.
01:50Not only this building, but on the other side of the street.
01:53Six such buildings were targeted in the central Beirut, which is not any stronghold of Hezbollah or any other group.
02:02But not only those houses got collapsed and not only 20 people got killed in those strikes on Wednesday.
02:12More than 900 people had been killed in this ongoing war so far and more than 2,000 are injured.
02:20The most devastating condition for the people living in Lebanon is that more than 1 million people are displaced
02:28who are either in the shelter homes or in the roadsides of the Beirut city.
02:34That is why the people here will not celebrate Eid al-Fitr this year.
02:41If there is visible everywhere, that is only the destruction of this ongoing war.
02:49Not only in the Beirut, but particularly in the southern parts of Lebanon.
02:54Ashrafani for India today in Beirut.
