LION PRIDE RUSHES TO RESCUE AS HYENAS AMBUSH LONE LIONESS WITH PIX AND VID By Shuk Yee Tsang and Mikey Jones Dramatic footage captures the moment a lone lioness is ambushed by a pack of hyenas before her pride charges in to save her in a tense wildlife showdown. Wildlife photographer Pareet Shah, 46, from Kenya, filmed the encounter in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The video shows a group of hyenas surrounding and chasing a single lioness, attempting to overwhelm her in a coordinated attack. At one point, the lioness is forced back and visually stressed under serious pressure as the hyena pack closes in. Outnumbered and vulnerable, she struggles to fend them off as the hyenas press on. But just as the situation intensifies, the rest of the pride storms in, rushing to her defence and scattering the attackers. The sudden arrival shifts the balance, with the hyenas retreating as the lions take control of the confrontation. In the final moments, the lioness can be seen safe but visibly shaken, clinging close to a tree after her narrow escape. Pareet, a professional photographer who has spent decades documenting wildlife, captured the rare moment during a safari, highlighting the power of pride dynamics in the wild.
