00:00And in China, the 15th five-year plan was approved during the two sessions with targets of GDP growth of
00:064.5 percent to 5 percent, a 17 percent reduction in carbon intensity over the five-year period and improvements
00:12in the well-being of the population. Our correspondent, Bruno Falsi, with the details.
00:19In the Great Hall of the People, China's Legislative House, the two sessions concluded after nine days of work. More
00:28than 5,000 delegates from all province approved the 15th five-year plan. Professor Lu Bocheng, who participated in its
00:38drafting, explained its objectives.
00:40We are excited to see that China is able to maintain its consistency and coherence in its blueprint in social
00:51and economic development. And the next five-year plan is there to ride on the previous 14th five-year plan
01:01in order to bring up China on a steady track of economic growth, social development, and also environmental quality.
01:09Under the leadership of the Communist Party, representatives of all 56 ethnic groups discussed policies for the next five years.
01:21Among the core objectives are reducing carbon emissions and producing healthy food.
01:29Today, we are providing agriculture and rural areas with more environmentally friendly, low-carbon and pollutant-free pesticides so that
01:38consumers can eat more safely. For example, we are using the hands of Chinese people to care for Chinese food
01:45and the agricultural products they produce are healthier. I believe that this makes the countryside even more beautiful.
01:54Meetings were held with regional delegations at various locations in the capital, such as the Beijing Convention Center. To understand
02:04the problems of the province from the ground up, the priority is the well-being of the population, with programs
02:12such as rural revitalization.
02:15I suggest directly linking care for the elderly in the rural areas with our rural revitalization strategy. In the process
02:23of promoting rural revitalization while emphasizing industrial development, we can explore ways to ease industrial profits to reinvest in care
02:32for local elderly people, or allocate a portion of the profits from the rural collective economy to establish a pension
02:39fund for the elderly in the area.
02:43Socialism with Chinese characteristics combines planning and state intervention in the economy. Thanks to this, China became the world's second
02:54largest economy, guaranteeing income distribution and social justice, thus eradicating poverty.
