00:04There's a combination of different elements that we use to tie the Voyages together so there's both audio and visual.
00:10The visual stuff we're putting in basically the Voyage name and the player name as well we specifically wanted to
00:17call out each player
00:19that was on the voyage at the start of the game to showcase that they're the stars of the show.
00:24It also puts you all up there together as a crew so you feel like this is my crew.
00:28It's a cool moment when you see your name might pop up.
00:30And the music playing over that really sets the tone.
00:34And then each time you progress along that journey,
00:37you get more audio, visual cues that take you along that journey
00:40and help define the mood of it being an adventure.
00:44So when we first started putting quests into Sea of Thieves,
00:47they were very much just singular maps that led to a singular island and that was it.
00:52And that was really fun, doing the quest was really fun,
00:54but we wanted to put a more fulfilling feeling of adventure in there.
00:58So players felt like they'd start at the start of an adventure
01:01and it would progress and move on and then they would finish it.
01:04So that's where the voyage system kind of came in
01:06and layered on top of the quests that we'd created.
01:08I mean, the voyage system allows us to create many different types of voyage,
01:12but we found that when we were first testing it out,
01:15kind of hopping between islands and having a nice balance between
01:18sailing the ship and then jumping off and adventuring on the islands
01:22was a good balance and that's where we started it.
01:24Yeah, I mean, the system is really powerful.
01:25It allows us to basically create any length of voyage.
01:28We can make a voyage that's a singular map that goes to one island
01:32that's very near to where you start and then that's it.
01:34Or we can create a voyage that, if we wanted to,
01:36visits every island in the entire world.
01:39It was kind of built in a very modular system, wasn't it?
01:41So that we could have this flexibility to listen to community feedback
01:45and perhaps shorten or lengthen voyages or add certain voyages in at certain times
01:50for if we want to react to what people are liking and what they're not liking.
01:53Obviously, longer term, different voyages may well offer different incentives for players,
01:57different rewards for players.
01:59So players are going to be able to kind of progress through voyages themselves
02:03and also have some choice over what types of voyages they want to go on.
02:06Yeah, and one of the cool things is that the more things that we add to the sandbox,
02:09the more fulfilling the voyage system gets and vice versa.
02:12So they both kind of work off of each other.
02:14If we add, like, new features here, then it serves it over here.
02:17Yeah, if we add a new quest type, then that just slots into our voyage system
02:21and suddenly players will be able to go on voyages that include those types of quests.
02:25So although the voyage system is this kind of basis that gives players a goal,
02:29if they want it, to go on while they're in Sea of Thieves,
02:31all the things that we're adding into the world enrich that voyage that you're going on.
02:35Going on these adventures with your crew, bonding together and sharing these stories along the way.
02:40Yeah, and I think the structure behind the voyage and the presentation as well
02:43helped really reinforce that sense of adventure.
02:59Thank you.
