00:07Life's good as a fruit grower.
00:13That's the second time that's happened.
00:20The vegetables don't plant themselves out here on the farm.
00:24It takes a dedicated crew to keep things growing.
00:27So meet the real workers, Gary and Anya.
00:31Now, Gary might look right at home in the soil,
00:33but this wasn't always the case.
00:36Yeah, six months ago, I had a pensionable job for, like, good money,
00:39everything was nice and secure, and I just said, Asher, why not?
00:42So you do that, I suppose.
00:43When you get a bit older, you just kind of go, like, why not do that?
00:47Just take it six months out at least, or maybe more,
00:50so you end up coming and, you know, working with nature,
00:53working with your hands.
00:54I think I was mentally born in a hot country, though, like the polytunnel.
01:00My role in Curro-Moore, I'm an intern,
01:03so I basically do what I'm told to do,
01:05which is the simple way I put it, but it's a great team,
01:08and it's a very honest kind of team as well.
01:10Like, there's no airs or graces with it.
01:13You just get on with it, like, you know, which is beautiful.
01:14So I'm actually, I feel blessed to be working with a lot of them,
01:17to be honest, so happy out with them, yeah, couldn't be better.
01:22I would say the old me looking at me now would be very proud of me,
01:26to be honest, I'd say, because the jump to go from what I've done
01:30to this is actually huge, like, when you think about it.
01:38No, I'm enjoying my internship.
01:41I have officially three months left,
01:43but I'm quite happy here for three months,
01:45and who knows after that, like, yeah,
01:47don't want it to end yet anyway, like, you know,
01:49maybe when the rains fall or the snow falls,
01:51it could change then, like, but so far, yeah,
01:55keep it going the way it is, happy out.
01:58When you see the veg boxes,
01:59you could have X amount of veg boxes going out,
02:02and you know they're going to a family of, I don't know,
02:05a couple with kids and that, and they're eating such healthy food,
02:07it's just, like, it's just, that's the sense of achievement
02:10that's kind of there as well, like, you know,
02:13you're just spreading something good, you're doing something good,
02:15like, and I got to grow, it helped a team of three or four of us here,
02:18and we've grew the whole lot and fed hundreds and hundreds of people,
02:22like, it's amazing.
02:26And next up in the growing team, it's Anya,
02:28and she too used to have a completely different career.
02:31Proof that it's never too late to try something new.
02:34For 25 years, I worked with horses in the equine industry,
02:39from racing yards to show jumping, mares and foals.
02:43I was the assistant gardener in Coramore House for two years
02:48for Lord and Lady Watford,
02:49and I also took care of the care of some of their horses.
02:52This is my first role as growing vegetables, like,
02:56so I'm, look, I'm learning day to day
02:59and I'm kind of embracing the whole journey of here, like, so,
03:03yeah, but it's a great interest
03:05and, like, I couldn't be in a better place for me, personally, anyway.
03:09Like, me being autistic,
03:11this is just super environment for me
03:13because, like, Colm is amazing
03:15and Gary, we get on really well,
03:17and Richard, of course,
03:18when he's not off high-flying when movie-making.
03:22But, yeah, I love it.
03:23It's small groups.
03:24It's quiet.
03:25Everyone gets on.
03:26And we all just pitch in
03:28and we have the laugh and the crack.
03:30The walled garden, it's just,
03:32it's so vast, the space,
03:33and, like, what we're growing,
03:35it's just, there's even,
03:36we could do it more room,
03:38do you know what I mean?
03:38But it's super,
03:40the way everything grows
03:41and the land is so rich, like, and fertile.
03:44It's brilliant.
03:45The hardest part is keeping it on top of the weeds,
03:47to be honest with you.
03:49As you can,
03:49no, what weeds, you're saying?
03:51But, yeah, look,
03:52it's all part of it.
03:53They just grow and grow and grow
03:55and when the weather is sunny and warm,
03:57they love it, like,
03:58and they just appear.
04:01But when I feel comfortable in an environment
04:04and the people I'm around,
04:05I can be myself
04:06and I can let that guard down
04:08and then really just embrace
04:09the whole environment
04:11and the journey then.
04:21It's early May on the farm
04:23and the sun is splitting the stones down in Waterford.
04:26It's great weather for sunbeating,
04:28but not so great for some of the vegetables
04:29that have recently gone into the ground.
04:32With no rain on the horizon
04:33and pheasants on the loose,
04:35Richard is out checking the crops
04:36to see what's thriving
04:37and what's struggling.
04:39Strawberries are flowering,
04:41but, uh,
04:44unfortunately,
04:45the very dry hot weather
04:47means that, uh,
04:49the, um,
04:51there's quite a few misses,
04:53uh, with ones that haven't taken.
04:59Pheasants, they, um,
05:01they make life twice as hard
05:03as it should be here.
05:04Uh, I shouldn't have to net strawberries
05:06until, uh,
05:07the fruits have formed
05:08and you can just leave the bees
05:09to come in and out.
05:10There he is,
05:11sitting on the net,
05:12waiting for me,
05:13probably,
05:13to take it off
05:14so they can feast on strawberries.
05:16Oh, well.
05:18I'm going to have to learn
05:19how to cope with pollination
05:21and pheasants,
05:21but, uh,
05:22every year's a learning year.
05:24Next, Richard is looking at the onions,
05:26who, if you remember,
05:27had an early visit from rabbits
05:29when they first went in,
05:30so let's see if the crop has bounced back.
05:32See the rabbit damage there
05:34and, uh,
05:35sending out new leaves
05:36and growing through it,
05:37which is fantastic.
05:38Looking good.
05:39Hopefully, we'll get a nice crop of onions.
05:41Uh, so I'll cover them over
05:43just to keep the rabbits
05:43and pheasants off them
05:44and leave them to it.
05:49While out in the field,
05:50the radishes and salad leaves
05:52are hanging in there,
05:53though the heat is starting to crank up,
05:55but for now,
05:56Richard seems happy
05:57with what he sees.
05:58Maybe a quick taste test
05:59is required to confirm?
06:01Lovely radishes there.
06:03I give my gardeners a wash.
06:05Apparently,
06:06a small amount of soil
06:07is good for you, so.
06:11Mmm.
06:12Delicious.
06:12They'll go well in the book full.
06:16The only worrying trend now
06:18is that with no sign of rain,
06:19will some of the seeded crops
06:20survive the hot weather.
06:22They've already lost the sowing of carrots
06:24and right now,
06:25it's not looking good
06:26for the second sowing.
06:28You see the top,
06:29uh,
06:30inch or two there
06:32is bone dry
06:34and that is where
06:35your seeds are going to live
06:38and, uh,
06:39it's very hard to get seeds
06:41to germinate,
06:41particularly fine seed like carrot.
06:43And you can see here
06:44that deeper down,
06:47there's lots of moisture.
06:51So, for transplanted crops,
06:52that's fine.
06:53They'll grow into that
06:54and they'll, uh,
06:55mine the soil
06:56as the roots are growing.
06:57We've got a month or so,
06:59uh,
06:59but for the seeds,
07:00they need it now.
07:02What's the solution?
07:04The only way really
07:06to get the seeds germinating
07:07is irrigation.
07:08If we don't get any rain
07:09the next week or two,
07:10we won't be able to manage
07:11with our salad sowings
07:13and our carrot sowings,
07:14uh,
07:15really,
07:15um,
07:16give us a poor range of produce.
07:19And,
07:20unfortunately,
07:21that's expensive.
07:22Uh,
07:22if you're gonna buy something
07:23that can scale up
07:24and be part of an irrigation
07:25program here,
07:27then, uh,
07:27we're talking to quite a bit
07:28of money.
07:29And if you buy cheap stuff,
07:30then it's no use
07:31for future years.
07:32So,
07:33have to have a conversation
07:34with Mick.
07:34If there's no money
07:35in the kitty,
07:35then we just have to
07:36scrub carrots
07:37and possibly salads
07:38from the menu.
07:39Um,
07:40if, uh,
07:41we do have a bit of money
07:41for irrigation,
07:42then we can keep that moving.
07:47After weeks of dry weather
07:49and rising temperatures,
07:50the rain finally arrives
07:52on the farm.
07:53It's a welcome relief
07:54for the crops,
07:55but also for the growing team,
07:57who've been doing their very best
07:58to keep everything alive.
08:00With the ground now getting soaked,
08:02the pressure eases.
08:03Well,
08:04at least for now.
08:07And, uh,
08:07look at it now.
08:08Uh,
08:09that really is,
08:10um,
08:11soil that's as moist as can be.
08:13We've had two weeks
08:14of really good rain,
08:16uh,
08:17and now
08:19that has,
08:20uh,
08:21as much moisture
08:21as it can hold.
08:22Uh,
08:23I'm a very happy grower.
08:24And I think I'd probably told Mick
08:26that it was brilliant,
08:27uh,
08:27deduction on my part,
08:29but, uh,
08:30it's just,
08:30look,
08:30it's like betting on the horses,
08:32really.
08:32Betting on the Irish weather
08:34is not going to make anybody rich.
08:37Earlier in the series,
08:39we saw Jen panicking
08:40when she first arrived at Bloom
08:41and nothing was built yet.
08:43But after all the setbacks,
08:45late nights
08:45and last minute panics,
08:47they finally have the garden ready.
08:49The plants are in,
08:50Mick has arrived on site
08:51and the GIY team
08:52is ready to show
08:53what they've been working on.
08:54But is it going to help
08:55sell veg boxes?
08:56Uh,
08:57is it a brilliant opportunity
08:58for veg box?
08:59Probably,
08:59probably not.
09:00Like,
09:00don't tell Jen that
09:01because she's already
09:02a bit pissed off at me
09:04about,
09:04about that.
09:05So I have a plan
09:06to maybe to try
09:07and increase a few
09:08veg box numbers.
09:10I'm not sure
09:10if Mick's going to like it.
09:12So Jen's idea
09:13is Mick heads out and about
09:15in search of celebrities
09:16to get selfies with
09:17and then convince them
09:18to promote the veg boxes
09:20on their social channel.
09:21I mean,
09:21what could go wrong
09:22with this idea?
09:23Oh,
09:24like,
09:24I'm fecking terrible
09:25at this stuff,
09:26like,
09:26I'd be slobbering
09:27over my words.
09:28What's the result here?
09:29Like,
09:29a picture of me
09:30with Donal
09:30or Nevin
09:31or Rory O'Connell
09:32or...
09:32Hameless.
09:33All right,
09:33I'll do my best.
09:38Shameless being
09:39the operative word,
09:40like,
09:40I actually feel
09:41kind of queasy
09:42in my stomach
09:42because this is...
09:43That's how cringy this is.
09:47No,
09:47I'm not good
09:48at this at all.
09:49Okay,
09:50so like,
09:50uh,
09:51I guess this is my
09:52hit list
09:53of famous people
09:54because all the famous
09:55people are the cooks,
09:56right?
09:57Waiting,
09:58waiting,
09:58waiting for celebrities
09:59to walk past
10:01like a doorstep.
10:03So I'm just going to go over
10:04and see,
10:05can I,
10:05like,
10:05muscle in here?
10:07What do you need?
10:08I need a whole
10:09social media campaign.
10:11I can give you a photo.
10:12I need the Eurovision song.
10:13For now,
10:14a photo will be great.
10:15a photo.
10:15Let's do it.
10:16Let's do it.
10:16Cheers.
10:21We've got Donal
10:22anyway in the bag.
10:23The torture continues
10:24for another little while.
10:27I think I've,
10:29uh,
10:29spotted,
10:29uh,
10:30Kitty and Colm
10:31from,
10:31uh,
10:31Homegrown.
10:32Great show.
10:33Hi guys.
10:34How's it going?
10:35How are you?
10:36Well,
10:36John.
10:37Long time,
10:37no see.
10:38I'm on a mission
10:38today to
10:40doorstep celebrities.
10:41Okay,
10:41oh,
10:42wow.
10:42You must keep looking,
10:43so.
10:44Don't be so humble.
10:45Very honored.
10:47Cheers.
10:47I'll get my people
10:48to talk to your people.
10:52Rory O'Connell
10:53is over there,
10:54so that mightn't be a bad one.
10:56Do you know Rory?
10:56How big is Rory's
10:57following on social media,
10:58I wonder?
10:59In mind?
11:00That'd be all right?
11:01Absolutely.
11:01Even though I'm slightly
11:02embarrassed about how dowdy
11:04I look by comparison to you.
11:06But you've probably been to
11:07hair and makeup,
11:08obviously,
11:08as well.
11:08Exactly.
11:10Great to see you.
11:11See you soon.
11:11I hope to see you again.
11:12Yeah.
11:12I think Dermot Gavin
11:13would be cool,
11:14so it's not all just cooks,
11:16chefs,
11:16sorry.
11:18I know.
11:18Did you see?
11:19I've just had the side eye.
11:20I know, yeah.
11:21Well,
11:21it was more aggressive
11:22than side eye,
11:22but anyway.
11:24Like,
11:24it was all going very well.
11:25We were building momentum
11:26with Donal,
11:27and,
11:28but Nevin is,
11:29Nevin is like a
11:31feckin' mystical presence
11:32off somewhere in the distance,
11:34like,
11:34like,
11:34where's Wally?
11:36But,
11:36like,
11:36Nevin's the mother load.
11:38The money shot.
11:44So Mick heads off.
11:46Nevin is nowhere to be found,
11:47or was he?
11:49Look who the crew bumped into.
11:51It's the elusive Nevin.
11:52Better look next time,
11:53Mick.
11:57It's been three weeks
11:59since soil expert Mike Walsh
12:00visited the farm,
12:01and today he's back
12:02with his lab assistant,
12:03Patty,
12:04to start gathering soil samples.
12:06Never been here before,
12:08and it's very interesting
12:09to go,
12:10to just be able
12:10to see the soil
12:11and take it in.
12:13We'll be bringing it
12:14to the lab
12:14to test.
12:16The soil hasn't been touched
12:17in 50 years,
12:18I think,
12:18Mike said.
12:20Okay,
12:21so this is it.
12:22The last day
12:23was a first visit,
12:25and it was really
12:26just having a look
12:28at what we see
12:29on the surface.
12:30So we'll,
12:31we'll just get the kit out,
12:32get going.
12:33Today is more
12:34about taking the samples
12:35back
12:36and looking
12:37at the micro,
12:39at the biology
12:40in the soil,
12:41the organic matter,
12:42and getting into
12:43the actual life
12:45in the soil.
12:45We'll do the normal,
12:47the standard
12:48W pattern
12:49for our soil samples,
12:51and have a look
12:52at what they've got here.
12:54And for sure,
12:54we'll be right down
12:55on top of a rock.
13:00Okay,
13:00that's not bad,
13:01Cora.
13:02It's nice and uniform
13:04all the way down.
13:07Okay.
13:08Now,
13:08first half a bump.
13:09Yeah.
13:13So it'd be great
13:14to see microbial communities,
13:15what way the chemistry
13:16of the soil is,
13:17so the nutrients,
13:18the phosphorus,
13:19potassium,
13:20and then do soil
13:21textural analysis
13:22as well,
13:22and the organic matter
13:23is a big thing too.
13:24So then,
13:26we'll be able to do
13:27DNA extractions as well
13:28on the soil,
13:28and we'll look at
13:29microbial communities,
13:30which is fascinating
13:31for something
13:31not touched in 50 years.
13:35Plenty of work ahead of me.
13:41It's another busy day
13:42on the farm,
13:43and everyone is working away.
13:45And Richard has invited Katie
13:46from the marketing team
13:47to help with the pigs.
13:49The primary reason
13:49we have the pigs here
13:50is to clear land.
13:53Obviously,
13:54we will use them
13:55as pigs are used for,
13:58but they're excellent
13:59at clearing vegetation.
14:01I've never touched
14:02a pig before in my life.
14:03Look,
14:04I'll give it a shot.
14:05Clearing the land
14:05without the pigs
14:06would be a lot harder work.
14:09I don't know about this narrative.
14:11We're going to move
14:11those pigs
14:12onto a bit of fresh ground
14:14that I'd love to know
14:15what's down there.
14:16I'll have you walking behind.
14:18Why do I have to go behind?
14:21I guess I'll find it
14:22more amusing
14:22if they start nipping you.
14:25Okay.
14:25And are they strong?
14:27Yeah, they...
14:28Will they knock me over?
14:29Yeah, well, they could,
14:30and they can give you
14:31the odd nip,
14:31but they're not...
14:32They're omnivores,
14:33not carnivores.
14:34You'll be grand.
14:35Sharp teeth.
14:36Come on, pig, pig, pig.
14:38We're going to some new pastures.
14:40Come on, Katie,
14:40jump over.
14:41Come on, pig, pig.
14:43Come on, pig, pig, pig.
14:45Pig, pig, pig.
14:45Pig!
14:46We're losing one behind there.
14:47Pig, pig, pig,
14:48come on.
14:49He's not interested.
14:50Struck that one down
14:52like Hansel and Gretel.
14:54Oh, it stinks, Richard.
14:58One, two, three,
14:59four, five, six.
15:00We've got six.
15:00Come on.
15:02Come on.
15:03Oh, the tree here.
15:05Yeah, here we go.
15:06Have a look.
15:07This is pig heaven.
15:08Richard, I'm struggling here.
15:11Come on.
15:11So let's take the food
15:12out here then.
15:13Okay, guys, come on.
15:14Come on.
15:16Come on.
15:17Why aren't they eating my food?
15:19You just haven't got the touch.
15:21So I've brought the pigs
15:22the whole way down here
15:23and now they're not...
15:24Oh, they are eating my food.
15:26Well, I've just got it
15:27what it takes to attract pigs, really.
15:29Hi.
15:29There we go.
15:30They're calmed down now
15:31and we can back the fence up,
15:33bring the house down.
15:34So this is going to be
15:34their new home.
15:36They're going to be
15:37chilling out here for a while.
15:38Yeah, and have a look
15:39where they've got that acre
15:40to clear.
15:41They'll be busy pigs.
15:43Do I need the food?
15:49It's different than
15:50sitting on a laptop
15:51all day now.
15:52It's kind of some real work.
15:53My hands are extremely dirty.
15:54My jacket's dirty.
15:56Very different
15:56to what I'm used to
15:57but I actually really enjoyed it.
15:58Richard said
15:58their teeth aren't actually
15:59that sharp.
16:00They just have strong jaws.
16:01I told her that
16:02pig's teeth weren't very sharp
16:05because they can take
16:06the odd nip.
16:07That's actually not true
16:08but she believed me anyway.
16:09So she had lots of confidence
16:11that it wasn't going to
16:11remove any flesh
16:13in case they nipped her.
16:18From herding pigs
16:20to selling produce
16:20there's lots of moving parts
16:22on this project
16:23and meanwhile
16:24back at the GIY shop
16:25there's one place
16:27where all that hard work
16:28in the fields ends up.
16:29The GIY shop.
16:31It's a very small shop
16:32but at the heart of it
16:33is Clodagh.
16:34I've taken over
16:35into this whole section.
16:37This was all completely new.
16:38We'd never
16:38we'd like had a little
16:40kind of gift shop
16:40but there was no
16:41kind of grocer
16:42there was no larder
16:43there was no weighing things
16:44there was no
16:46anything on this side
16:46so it was all new.
16:48So it was great to kind of
16:49try and build it up
16:50as best we could.
16:51Like Clodagh's amazing
16:52you know she's
16:53she's brilliant customer service
16:54she's so
16:55like customers
16:56absolutely love her.
16:57I know about their kids
16:58I know about
16:58what they did the weekend
17:00I know
17:00their favourite colour
17:02their favourite food
17:02what foods they come in for
17:04so it's not just a transaction
17:06it's like an actual chat
17:07and a service that we do.
17:08Sorry no.
17:09Thanks.
17:10She's selling veg boxes
17:11she's talking to customers
17:12she's kind of explaining
17:13some of the challenges
17:15we have
17:15like the
17:16with the hens being locked in
17:18and all that
17:19you know
17:19so she's really good
17:20at kind of
17:20telling that story
17:22and that's
17:23that's a hugely
17:23important part of it.
17:25Oh I know what you're
17:26talking about now
17:27the church hours
17:28so when we do the veg boxes
17:30we do try and like
17:31there's communication
17:32between me here
17:33the kitchen and the garden
17:34there's no one team
17:35that just does veg boxes
17:36we're all kind of
17:37involved in it
17:38so trying to get
17:39the numbers up
17:40I think it takes
17:41all of us
17:42to kind of be a part of it
17:43because if one part of it
17:43is lacking
17:44you know
17:45the whole thing is lacking
17:46then everything needs
17:47to work together
17:47in that.
17:48It's the one thing
17:49stopping someone is
17:50I still have to get up
17:51on a Saturday
17:52maybe they want to
17:52stay in the pyjamas
17:53all day
17:53maybe they have kids
17:54running around
17:55they don't have
17:56the ability to come in
17:57and pick up the box
17:58so I think once we do
17:59deliveries that'll open
18:00a lot more availability
18:01to customers
18:02I think I sell my fair share
18:04of veg boxes here as well
18:05it's not just down
18:06to the marketing team
18:07like a lot of their stuff
18:08might be seen online
18:10but they could be
18:11anywhere in the world
18:12at least when customers
18:13come in here
18:14they're going to get
18:14a veg box here
18:15and they're going to
18:16talk to us here
18:17so it's better.
18:18I think like Claude
18:19is like really
18:20really important
18:21parts of this team
18:22like you know
18:23so we're very lucky
18:24to have her
18:25it'd be a big problem
18:27if she wasn't around
18:28you know.
18:30Mick!
18:31Sorry Claude
18:32but Mick is already gone
18:33he's heading back
18:34to the farm because
18:37very early in the series
18:39the team were hit
18:39with the devastating news
18:41of a nationwide
18:42outbreak of bird flu
18:43they were forced
18:44to keep the hens
18:45confined to the hen houses
18:46it's like disastrous news
18:48it's been a difficult
18:50time for the hens
18:51and the team
18:52here on the farm
18:53but now
18:5412 weeks on
18:55and there is finally
18:56good news
18:58It's an exciting day now
19:00it's the 10th of May
19:01and we'll be given
19:04the word by the department
19:05that we can let
19:06the birds out today
19:07so the hens
19:09will be given
19:11their freedom again
19:11which is massively
19:12important for healthy
19:13happy hens
19:14and good quality eggs
19:15people have probably seen
19:16the kind of imagery
19:17of cows being left out
19:18after the winter
19:19and they're kicking
19:20and they're dancing
19:21and frolicking
19:22and that's what I'm
19:23expecting or hoping for
19:24I think they're going
19:24to be delighted to get out
19:25and it's going to be
19:26an absolute joy to see it
19:27Mick here is probably
19:30overexcited
19:31about it all
19:32as is his way
19:35Right Richard
19:36come on
19:37Just hang on a minute Mick
19:39I've got to get the fence
19:40secure
19:40I'm not even escaping
19:41on the first day out
19:42This is just like
19:43my most exciting thing
19:45that's happened to me
19:45in about six years
19:47Okay here we go ladies
19:49Liberation Day
19:50Part Deux
19:51It is time for your
19:52freedom
19:59Mick come out of the way
20:00I think
20:01You're scaring them Mick
20:02Come out of the way
20:06It's not quite like
20:07D-Day landing level of
20:12No
20:13That one's trying
20:14to get back in
20:15Yeah
20:16It's scared
20:18But don't worry
20:19a moment later
20:20and the hens start
20:21to stream out
20:22into the field
20:22albeit a bit slower
20:24than what Mick
20:24may have wanted
20:28Why does everybody
20:29take videos
20:30of things they said
20:31Because this is like
20:32social media gold
20:33Richard
20:34What are these people
20:35so sad
20:36they want to watch
20:36videos of chickens
20:37running around grass
20:39Yeah
20:39Why didn't they just
20:40get some chickens
20:41and look at their own
20:43Well
20:44that's the whole point
20:45of social media
20:45you live your life
20:46vicariously
20:47through other people's lives
20:49What sad bastards
20:53I think this is just fantastic content
20:56I'm very pleased with this
20:58and all our followers on social
21:00are going to be delighted
21:03Yeah
21:03like it's just such a brilliant ending
21:06to a shit situation
21:07that we've had to deal with
21:08for a couple of months
21:09and like
21:09to do it in glorious sunshine today
21:12happy hens
21:13hopefully amazing eggs again
21:15and all's well
21:16that ends well
21:17eventually
21:17and I was right
21:19about how liberated
21:20they would be
21:24Now that the chickens
21:25are out
21:26the production team
21:27have decided
21:27to test another theory
21:28This one is about
21:30plant-based nutrients
21:33They've arranged for Mick
21:34to do a carotenoid scan
21:35I genuinely am
21:37really nervous
21:39This quick test
21:40reveals the presence
21:41of carotenoid stored
21:42in your skin
21:43So in theory
21:44if you eat lots of
21:45nutrient-rich vegetables
21:46you will have a high
21:47carotenoid count
21:48but if you don't
21:49you will have a low count
21:52There's been a lot of
21:53kind of jeopardy
21:54in this series
21:54but like this is actually
21:56feels like my entire life's work
21:58being exposed
21:58to scientific rigor
22:00for the first time
22:02This could be really
22:03really really bad
22:05So we're about to see
22:06because the carotenoid measure
22:08is in fact
22:08it's almost like
22:09a lie detector test
22:10for the type of nutrients
22:11that we're consuming
22:12and the type of products
22:13that we're consuming
22:13Like what if I'm really low?
22:16I don't think
22:17it's a great idea actually
22:18I think it's like
22:19just too much pressure
22:20for me
22:24We're going to take
22:25three scans
22:26of the tip of your right
22:27index finger
22:28Okay
22:28Each test takes roughly
22:30about 10 to 15 seconds each
22:31so not too long
22:33and what we're going to get
22:34is a score
22:35which gives us
22:36your average score
22:36for your skin carotenoid
22:37Right
22:37It's called average population
22:39Irish population
22:40150, 200
22:41So what could go wrong?
22:43It could be 50
22:45So you just pop your
22:46right index finger in
22:47My heart rate is quite
22:49escalated as well
22:51Our second scan is
22:52underway
22:53This feels quite high stakes
22:55I'm not going to lie to you
22:56I have confidence
22:57Do you?
22:58Yeah
22:58Just pop your finger out
22:59again for five seconds
23:00One, three, two, one
23:03Then we'll do the last one
23:05So happy there
23:06Yeah
23:08Our last scan is underway
23:10Ta-da
23:12Woohoo
23:13Told that
23:14Didn't I tell you?
23:15Oh my god
23:16That's class
23:17That's class
23:18So that's proof
23:20that when you do it right
23:21you get the score
23:22Wow
23:23I feel like
23:24an overwhelming wave of relief
23:25I don't mind saying
23:26I'm a bit relieved too
23:28Exactly
23:29Yeah
23:29So we don't need to retire
23:31No
23:31We keep going for work
23:32Go working a fast food joint
23:33So that's good
23:34It doesn't lie
23:35No
23:36Yeah, that's super
23:37Well done
23:38Next week on Our Farm
23:40Panic is setting in
23:41The veg is growing faster
23:42than it's selling
23:43and the team scrambled
23:44to stop it from ending up
23:45as pig food
23:46Mick and Richard clash
23:48as the hungry gap hits hard
23:49and with the veg box number stalling
23:51Ali launches a plan B
23:53I'm going to come up with ways to sell it
23:54Meanwhile the team head to Kilruddery House
23:56for a bit of inspiration
23:57while Dermot Gavin drops by
23:59to explore the roots
24:00of one of Ireland's
24:01most famous gardeners
24:02William Robinson
24:03Mick's on the phone
24:04trying to shift veg
24:05any way he can
24:06and just when the pressure peaks
24:08Ali delivers good news
24:10That could change everything
24:30that could change everything
24:31what it's been
24:31You know what it's been
24:31and what the time
24:32you know what it's been
24:32it's been
24:42I'm going to come up with you
