00:08I'm Ben Irving, one of the lead producers for the game,
00:11and on behalf of everyone here at Bioware,
00:14we are excited to share this live gameplay experience with all of you.
00:17Joining me today are four amazing developers, controllers in hand,
00:21ready to take you on an adventure through the mysterious world of Anthem.
00:28Now a second caravan's been hit.
00:31Another one? Contract's getting fun now.
00:34You have the strangest sense of fun.
00:36You guys starting without me?
00:37Freelancer, time to get to work!
00:41Faye said these bastards made some kind of acid. They're using it as a weapon.
00:45Melted a couple of supply caravans.
00:46Scar's taking down whole caravans. Damn.
00:48I know. Should make this a challenge, huh?
00:51I like a challenge.
00:52Who gets cyber duty?
00:54The chair's all yours.
00:56Yes!
00:57So, find where they're making this garbage and shut it all down.
01:04Peace at gate, right?
01:11Our expedition starts in the player's strider.
01:14This is your forward base of operations.
01:16Here you can equip your javelin with a wide array of gear, weapons, and abilities,
01:20as well as customize your appearance to show off your own personal style and flair.
01:26In front of us, we have the Colossus.
01:28Jen will be our squad leader today, so Jen, let's jump in and get started.
01:34At the start of any expedition, we need to decide who we want to play with.
01:38Jen will be inviting two of her friends, but when you play the game, you will choose from
01:43your friends, guildmates, other like-minded individuals, or even go out and explore the world on your own.
01:50Now that our squad is formed, we need to pick our objective.
01:53This is the map screen, and as you can see, there are a lot of different activities to choose from.
01:57For today, we'll be playing the mission, Scars, and Villainy.
02:07Anthem is a social, co-op, action RPG from Bioware, where you will join a group called the Freelancers.
02:14The Freelancers are the brave few who go out into the wild and face danger head-on.
02:19They can do this because they are equipped with powerful javelin exosuits.
02:25These javelins are handcrafted and passed down from generation to generation,
02:30allowing those who have them to go out into the wild and feel super heroic.
02:49Today we will play from Jen's perspective in her Colossus,
02:52a heavily armoured battle exo that trades agility for massive firepower.
02:57As you can see, her two friends have joined us.
02:59Renata is playing in the Ranger, a faster-moving javelin with a focus on precision.
03:06Scylla is also playing a Colossus, but with a completely different loadout,
03:10one that focuses on close call to combat, and we'll see his flamethrower a bit later on.
03:15He also has a totally different appearance with that sweet, sweet red speedstripe.
03:22Ours is an unfinished world, a world abandoned by its gods, the Shapers.
03:27It's also a reactive world.
03:29Here you can see our jets are overheating,
03:31but we can fly through this waterfall to cool them off.
03:36Owen, what's the plan here?
03:38Picking up loads of scars nearby.
03:40Take a look around the area, but be careful.
03:43Owen is our cipher and guide for the mission, and will provide valuable intel.
04:09The Scars are relentless invaders who crave the ancient power of the Shaper technology,
04:14and they're in a constant conflict with the Freelancers.
04:35Up ahead we have a Scar watchtower.
04:37Our squad should probably tread lightly here, so they don't call for reinforcements.
04:45Oh, he could just blow it up.
04:51Look at all the weapons!
04:53Oh, and the turrets!
04:54Better move quickly.
05:04There is acid here, but not much.
05:06We've got to be making it farther in.
05:08Right. Checking out the SCAR camp some more.
05:17Missions can be joined in progress through Freelancer reinforcements.
05:20Our fourth squad member, Catherine, is about to join us.
05:25Catherine joined us in the Storm, a glass cannon with powerful elemental attacks and light armor.
05:30Catherine was taking a nap at launch, and while all her friends level 30, she's only level 1.
05:35But that's okay, because in Anthem, friends of any level can play together to earn experience and great rewards.
05:40Train of this acid gunk leading down.
05:42Follow it, and we should find the source.
05:46Hang on, something isn't right.
06:12Okay, so that Titan was way too powerful for our squad, at least for today.
06:17So it was wise to avoid him.
06:19But emergent world events, just like the Titan, can happen throughout the world of Anthem.
06:23And it's a really important point, because what it means is, every time you go out and explore the world,
06:28you'll have a totally different experience that yields different rewards.
06:33By now, you've probably noticed that traversal plays a really important role in Anthem.
06:38As you run, fly, and swim, through, above, and below the world, you can discover some pretty amazing things.
06:44Like right now, our squad just discovered the secret underwater entrance to the Scar Stronghold.
07:00Strongholds are a four-player mode that give greater rewards by taking on greater challenges.
07:05Once you discover a Stronghold, you'll have access to it from your map at the start of any expedition.
07:15Looks like the Scars have laid Mines in this tunnel.
07:18Jen, show us how a Colossus deals with Mines.
07:34Combos are a really important part of group play.
07:36Using certain abilities together allows you to combo for extra effects, like bonus damage.
07:44I feel a little bad for making fun of Catherine earlier, so let's see if we can have her set
07:48up a combo up ahead.
07:54Nice combo!
08:09So right there, Catherine called down a lightning storm, and Jen used her railgun to combo for massive bonus damage.
08:22There's the Shaper Relic.
08:24Wait, something's odd.
08:26Get a closer look, would you?
08:28Night has fallen in the world of Anthem, and the creatures that inhabit the darkness are out on the prowl.
08:34But honestly, that's a story for another day, because right now we have that giant thing to deal with.
08:40I don't know what they've done to that Relic, but it's getting worse by the minute.
08:46See those radiant pieces of energy?
08:47They're echoes from the Anthem of Creation.
08:49Return them to the Relic.
08:50You've got to silence it fast.
08:52This will be the first real challenge for our squad.
08:55We have snipers to the right, the Shaper interface below us, troops in the middle,
08:59and then all the way to the left we have those turrets.
09:02Our squad can approach this in a lot of different ways,
09:05but Jen, you're the expert, so over to you.
09:11Looks like Jen is sending our squad to hit the snipers first.
09:30In the top right-hand corner of the screen, you can see our objective
09:33is to find all six Echoes and take them to the Shaper interface.
09:37So up ahead, Scylla has one on his back in the Colossus,
09:40and here you can see Jen has two.
09:42So Scylla just put one in, and when we get these,
09:44and that'll be three out of six, and we're halfway done.
09:48The only problem now is we have to go through those troops in the middle to find the rest.
09:55Now, Jen used her Railgun to knock that Elite out of the sky.
10:00Lots of Scars headed your way, watch out.
10:09Now, we can see the Rangers hovering in the top left, getting ready to do something.
10:13Looks like it might be, yep, Frost Grenade out.
10:16Jen's going to use her Multimortar for a big Shatter combo.
10:18All right, good job, Jen.
10:36Okay, we cleared out the middle.
10:38The last thing left are these two turrets.
10:39We could take them head-on or flank.
10:42Looks like Jen's going to try to brute-force this first one.
10:47Okay, didn't quite get there.
10:48They're going to have to flank behind and hit those weak points.
11:09Okay, our squad's now cleared out all the enemies in this area.
11:11The last thing left to do is get those three Echoes and drop them off to silence the Relic.
11:26It's gone silent.
11:28Disaster averted.
11:29Do you think we get a bonus for...
11:30Wait, something's happening.
11:36What the hell was that?
11:37I think that was whatever laid all the eggs around here.
11:40The sound came from below your position.
11:45With some pretty awesome teamwork, our squad was able to silence this Relic.
11:50Relics are littered throughout the world, left there by the Shapers.
11:54Abandoned and volatile.
11:55But for right now, the mystery of the Scar weapon is taking us deeper and deeper into this stronghold.
12:06The Scar's were using those eggs as something, making acid properly.
12:09So the job's not done until we get rid of all the eggs.
12:12On the plus side, this definitely counts toward hazard pay.
12:23The environment seems to be changing.
12:25I have a bad feeling there are more than just scars in this stronghold.

14:05As you play Anthem, you will collect a whole lot of loot, and loot plays a really important
14:10role in Anthem.
14:11Not just because it makes you more powerful, but also because it allows you to create different
14:15loadouts to tackle a wide variety of different situations.

14:52Our freelancers just discovered an Ancient Arcanist Resonance.
14:56Interesting lore, items, and materials are scattered throughout the world of Anthem for
15:00you to discover and collect.
15:03By now you've probably noticed that our squad has some pretty awesome abilities.
15:06In particular, the Colossus has a Legendary Multimortar, and the Ranger has a Legendary
15:11Frost Grenade.
15:12Loot comes in many different rarities, and legendary items are very hard to come by.
15:17If you get your hands on one, they have special bonuses that make you more powerful.
15:22And I have a feeling our squad's gonna need all the power they can get for what lies ahead.
15:50That's big.
15:53Very, um... good luck.
15:57All right, so our squad has a lot of different things to deal with here.
16:00We have the smaller soldiers that if left unchecked will totally overrun our squad.
16:04And then we have the Swarm Tyrant herself.
16:06Now the Swarm Tyrant has three big sacks on her back, and they're her weak points.
16:10Our squad has to focus on the weak points to cause massive bonus damage.
16:21Now if Jen gets too close to you, she'll take a lot of damage from the Swarm Tyrant's
16:24frontal attack, but if she tries to stay too far back, she'll get caught in her webs.
16:29Legendary Multimortar right on that weak point is perfect.
16:33Looks like Scylla managed to light her on fire with his Flamethrower, and now she's taking
16:36a lot of extra damage.
16:57Our squad managed to destroy one of the sacks, leaving the Swarm Tyrant vulnerable.
17:16by using teamwork and focusing on her weak points, our squad has caused the Swarm Tyrant
17:21to retreat.
17:32Looks like she's called for help.
17:34Our squad has to take control of this choke point to make sure they're not overrun.
17:38What we really need is Scylla to get his flame wall out.
17:40There we go.
17:41Nice job Scylla.
17:44Maybe a lightning strike here from the storm would be helpful.
17:47Awesome.
17:47And Jen, if you can do a combo here, it would be great.
17:49Maybe that Multimortar.
17:54Alright, looks like our squad now has everything well in hand.
17:57But the Swarm Tyrant is back.
18:12Alright, Jen's gotta get out of here or she's gonna take a lot of damage.
18:21Nice, Scylla set the Swarm Tyrant on fire again.
18:25Every Javelin has a powerful ultimate ability that can turn the tide of battle in your favor.
18:41But this battle isn't over yet.
