30 minuti di gameplay dal PAX West 2018 per Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

00:00All right, so what we're gonna do is go off on an adventure on the island of Lesbos. Lesbos is
00:05in the northeastern corner of the map.
00:08It's late game content, right? So you'll see at the top right hand corner there's that 50. That means we're
00:12level 50.
00:14That's late in the game. And we're gonna come across somebody in need of help.
00:20All right, so we're definitely, you know, a mercenary who's maybe feeling themselves a little bit at this point. We're
00:24pretty strong, right?
00:25Oh, yeah, we're doing good. We've got the Adressia, our boat. And it should be pretty decked out at this
00:32point.
00:32And as well as our gear, if you look, he's looking pretty regal there.
00:38Oh, yeah, so you're definitely not starting off looking this way, right?
00:40No, you basically start off with a pair of sandals and your underwear, and then hopefully you get better from
00:46there.
00:47Yeah, I think that's one of the coolest things, too, that I've seen about Odyssey is that as you level
00:52up, your outfit is gonna change.
00:54But it's not just cosmetic this time, right?
00:56No, no, no, absolutely not. We have an entire progression system built around, you know, picking up new gear, dismantling
01:03it, engraving it.
01:04So you can upgrade your gear to make it for bonuses, like damage, extra damage, or being impervious to certain
01:12other types of damage.
01:13And so you customize your arms, your chest, your legs, and your helmet with stuff you'll find on the battlefield,
01:19stuff you'll find at the end of a quest line.
01:21We have entire, like, setups that are, like, you have to have all five pieces in order to be able
01:26to unlock these bonuses.
01:27It's, I mean, the possibilities are endless. The permutations in terms of how many different kinds of looks you could
01:33have is ridiculous.
01:34Yeah, and, I mean, it just adds another, you know, hook to keep us playing in the end. There's now
01:38a loot grind in Assassin's Creed.
01:39Yeah, there's always a little bit something, a little bit more that you could go get.
01:43Yeah.
01:43But, you know.
01:45So we're jumping in. We see this mob going on here. What's happening?
01:48Sure, you can see that in the back there you have that quest giver icon.
01:52So this person probably needs a little bit of help, but they're in trouble.
01:55So you kind of want to interact with them in order to get their story before doing anything drastic.
02:00Yeah.
02:01Oh, snake. What's going on? We will bring this evil creature to justice.
02:06They're lost in paranoia. I think I sacrificed my Ligia to the creature in the forest.
02:11Hold your fourth tongue. This walking curse is in league with the writhing dread.
02:16She just looks scared to me.
02:18Please, the creature took me here. If I die here, who will save her?
02:27I'll save you here and kill any creature that tries to stop me.
02:30What are you saying? She will lead you to the petrified temple and you're doomed.
02:36So we're getting a preview here of all the dialogue options available.
02:41Yeah, we have a bunch of dialogue options sometimes that are just about getting more information.
02:45You want to get to know somebody. You want to find out what their motivations are.
02:49You want to find out where they're going to take me.
02:51All sorts of normal curiosity questions you would ask somebody you're trying to help out.
02:55Yeah.
02:55And they're not always catastrophic choices where somebody lives and somebody dies.
03:00You want to have that range, right?
03:02I love that too because Assassin's Creed has always told such awesome, rich stories and presented so many cool, unique
03:07characters.
03:07It's nice to be able to inquire more about them if I want to.
03:10Oh yeah, absolutely. I mean, I'm a quest director at Yubi Quebec and building these stories that revolve around characters
03:18and the kind of troubles they have and how their daily existence affects their lives, basically.
03:24And how they could need the help of a mercenary is something that was super interesting to us.
03:28It's just like, what is that nitty gritty of that person's reality?
03:31Yeah. So we saw that cinematic, that conversation scene. We've now jumped into some combat because it looked like these
03:39soldiers were going to execute a helpless woman.
03:41Yeah, exactly. So you're going to interrupt them from doing something very nasty and help the lady at the same
03:46time.
03:47Yeah. So we just saw an amazing ability. Can you tell us a little bit more about that?
03:50Abilities are something that we've really put a lot of work into.
03:53We want players to be able to customize their experience and we want them, when they fight, to be able
03:59to be aggressive.
04:00So we have an entire tree of abilities that you can unlock that will give you different kinds of powers
04:05during combat.
04:06So you can have more passive things like increased health, but you can also have a lot more aggressive abilities
04:12like this part.
04:13Everybody's seen the Spartac Kick at this point, right?
04:15So satisfying.
04:16I know, it's so cool. It never gets old.
04:19The shield break is great as well. There's a bunch of stuff you can invest your ability points in that
04:25will give you bonuses across the board.
04:29So we've dispatched of the soldiers.
04:31Yeah, so she can talk.
04:35Basically, her lover is in trouble right now.
04:38Yeah, we tease a little something that we know there's a creature in a forest, something called the writhing dread.
04:44The writhing dread, yeah.
04:44But it's a price worth paying.
04:46I polish Kharon's Drachmi long ago, Mistyos. I'm ready.
04:54You know, I don't want to call you, you forever.
04:58It's, I love these little moments where you're kind of like, hey, I don't even know your name.
05:02Yeah.
05:02Tell me your name.
05:03I just killed a whole bunch of soldiers for you.
05:05Let's introduce yourself.
05:09Then let's not disappoint her.
05:11Where was she taken?
05:12I love Oleteos' voice, too.
05:14He's good.
05:15The actress who does Cassandra does an excellent judge as well.
05:20They're both amazing.
05:21Yeah, we saw that Cassandra trailer.
05:22Now we're doing the Alexios gameplay.
05:25Both of them Greek.
05:26Oh.
05:27Yeah.
05:29The thing I'm noticing, too, I've never been to Greece myself.
05:31When I picture it, this isn't necessarily what it looks like.
05:35What type of environmental diversity does Greece have?
05:38It's amazing.
05:39It has snowy mountaintops, like where your feet are sinking into the snow all the way down to like that
05:44tropical paradise type of stuff.
05:46In our E3 demo, what we were showcasing was like, we call them biomes, right?
05:51So the palm trees and the beautiful, you know, the lush vegetation, that type of thing.
05:56And now, for this demo, we're moving towards what we've called our autumn biome.
06:02Or it has, it's a deciduous, I always have trouble pronouncing it, but it's a type of tree biome.
06:07And this is what we're kind of showcasing.
06:09So you see the colors have shifted a little bit away from the green more towards the yellow, the red,
06:12that type of thing.
06:18The horse is obviously back.
06:20This is not Phobos.
06:22You just kind of randomly picked him up, but you can call him at any point, any time.
06:26And Phobos is your own horse?
06:28Yeah, yeah.
06:28At the beginning of the game, there's a moment where, you know, we'll show you a bunch of horses and
06:32we're like,
06:32all right, which one is this?
06:33The one you're going to have for the rest of your playthrough.
06:36You pick him and then he'll always come to you.
06:38So it's similar to, you know, your eagle, right?
06:40Where you have, you know, last year we had Senu this time.
06:45We have Icarus.
06:45Icarus.
06:46So Icarus is partnered up with Alexios.
06:51We do go into it in the story about how that works, but we haven't been spoiling it just yet.
06:57Yeah.
06:59So we follow this woman, Brice, into, you know, what looks like this village or town that looks like it's
07:05been through some troubled times.
07:06Yeah, she has a little love nest there with her partner.
07:09But you can, if you look in the background, you can see things are just getting really dark and gritty.
07:15This place is ours.
07:16It's very foreboding.
07:17Yeah.
07:17A forbidden place for forbidden love.
07:20Not much of a love nest.
07:21I've seen more romantic funerals.
07:24I found scraps of her clothes leading to the writhing dreads layer.
07:27Please, me to find it.
07:28That's not a direction I would want to go in personally.
07:30No, no.
07:31I think I would turn away from something called the writhing dread.
07:35It's funny because there's a little bit further away, there's some, you're not going to walk into it with your
07:40horse, but if you do, there's a point where your horse just nopes out.
07:44This place is so creepy.
07:45I'm not going in there.
07:46You know, sometimes animals are smarter than humans.
07:51So we saw there too that, you know, there's always something worth exploring, worth seeing, that you never know where
07:57you're going to find some hidden treasure.
07:58The world is just filled to the brim.
08:01There are, I think it's over 600 points of interest.
08:06So we call them points of interest.
08:07There are places in the world that have a certain gameplay challenge and a gameplay reward.
08:11So it may be just taking out a few bandits in order for a couple of bucks, or it could
08:15be something like climbing the statue, getting that reach high point, and being able to fast travel.
08:20I mean, there are so many in the world.
08:23It's really impressive.
08:25And you're going to make me clear them all out, because that's the kind of player I am.
08:29I'm obsessive.
08:30I am so OCD about that type of stuff.
08:32When I play these types of games, I am absolutely the same.
08:35I have to have everything.
08:36I have to have 100%.
08:37I have to make sure that I have touched and prodded every little thing in the game.
08:41Oh, yeah.
08:42That was one of my favorite parts of, you know, basically every Assassin's Creed, but especially Origins, just going in
08:47and clearing out all the map, because there's so many awesome little stories hidden throughout the world.
08:51That's the thing with the points of interest, right?
08:53They've all been modeled around, like, oh, sometimes there are little myths, sometimes there are stories, sometimes there's just like,
08:58oh, what is a hairdresser in ancient Greece type thing?
09:02And there's always that little connection into the world, right?
09:05It's not just free gameplay for the sake of gameplay.
09:07It's always like, oh, how does this actually tie into ancient Greece?
09:11So we see here we're wandering into what looks like a, you know, a fairly desolate place.
09:17Yeah, this is the layer of the Writhing Dread.
09:20Yeah.
09:21This is all the, this is a huge collaboration, like, the actual island of Lesbos is built by a collaboration
09:31between the Singapore and the Chengdu studio from China.
09:36And you'll see a little bit further, the gameplay that we've actually built inside this temple comes from, uh, Romania.
09:43Ooh.
09:43And, you know, we, we, uh, at the Quebec City studio who are, who are kind of overseeing all this,
09:48kind of give the direction, make sure that everybody's still going in the right, in the right direction.
09:52It's a huge collaborative effort.
09:54Now this is, I mean, this, this basically here gives it away.
09:57Yeah.
09:58Yeah, we're going where we're headed.
09:59Strong tease is where we're going.
10:03Some very lifelike statues, I'll say that.
10:10I love, too, just the sense of, you know, even the air is still here, right?
10:14There's these flecks, just floating, yeah.
10:17Kind of floating in, like, some things don't live here, they die here.
10:21Yes.
10:22I had, uh, at the, at the beginning of this, like, a couple of years ago, when we were talking
10:25about Medusa and what did we want to do with them, I always had,
10:29in my vision of things, I always had this imagining, this guy would come down from the village into Medusa's
10:34lair during the night and grab one of those, one of those poor soldiers who was frozen, bring him back
10:38in his cart, take him back and say, hey, look what I sculpted during the night and try to get
10:42some money.
10:43The ideal never got in the game, but I was, uh.
10:46It makes you think, it makes you think twice about those hyper-realistic sculptures.
10:49Oh, God.
10:51It was just that missed opportunity there.
10:56We need to get inside, but I see no openings, and the walls are too smooth.
11:02So, yeah, we were talking a bit earlier, I got a background in architecture, and I gotta say, this doesn't
11:06really look like Greek architecture at all.
11:08This, this comes out of, I'm gonna say, the lore, right?
11:13Yeah.
11:13Um, just because there is a huge part of the Assassin's Creed universe that is, uh, unique to it, that
11:19kind of kind of sci-fi aspect.
11:20Yeah.
11:21And I think I've already said too much.
11:23Oh, yes.
11:25Uh, but, you know, we are continuing, uh, Leila's, uh, story in the present day, inside of Odyssey, and this,
11:32and I'm not gonna tell you how, is tied into that.
11:35Ah, okay.
11:36So, we won't, we won't reveal too much.
11:38No.
11:39Gift.
11:40I, we've, we've already spoiled so much stuff, but it's great because there's so much content in the game that
11:44we, there's still tons of stuff left.
11:46Oh, no, you can't spoil this game, there's, there's too many possible paths and, and routes you can take.
11:54You know, you mentioned too, this is a continuation of Leila's story when we saw her, you know, uh, in
11:59Assassin's Creed Origins.
12:00The thing I love about this game is that it is simultaneously a prequel and a sequel.
12:04I'll find it.
12:04Right, that you're, you're continuing Leila's story, but doing it 400 years before.
12:08It's the ultimate prequel, right?
12:09Yeah.
12:09It's a, before even the existence of, uh, the Assassins and the Templars, as, as, as, as they've been come
12:15to know.
12:15And I was talking to somebody on the floor earlier, I was like, well, you have to look at it.
12:19It's kind of like, uh, the NFL, right?
12:21So the NFL exists, it's got all its teams, people play football, but did, did people play football before the
12:26NFL?
12:27Well, of course they did.
12:28Yeah.
12:29So it's kind of the same thing, like philosophies, uh, outlast the names of organizations.
12:33You know what I mean?
12:34I love that.
12:35That's a really good, great analogy.
12:39But only the riding dread would be strong enough to take you here.
12:42She's too fierce.
12:44And too stubborn.
12:49You said Leila knew how to get into the lair.
12:52Where exactly is the key?
12:54The daughters of Artemis hide the most prized possessions in a cave in a cage.
12:58So we have this idea that, that this creature has taken Leila, that she's behind this door and we need
13:03to go save her, but we can't get through it.
13:05We have a, see this, this is one of the, one of the most amazing things for me that happened
13:09during production.
13:10was this specific key, so you need a disc.
13:14Um, I, I, oh, Stephanie is going to, the historian is going to kill me because I can't, I can't
13:18remember the name of it.
13:19But it actually exists. It's something that they have in a museum and it actually predates our story by something
13:24like 10 or 12,000 years.
13:25Wow.
13:26It's this artifact that they found with engravings that they can't decipher and we were able to integrate it into
13:32the game and pose it as this key to the layer of, I was going to say the riding dread.
13:37Yeah. So yeah, we, we, we, we got sort of our setup here that we need the key and now,
13:44uh, you know, we're back on our ship, the address.
13:46See, uh, are we going to find the key?
13:47So we're going to a neighboring island, which is just a little bit, uh, west of, uh, Lesbos on that
13:52small island called Chios, where in theory the key is located.
13:55The great thing about Chios is that it, um, it's populated mostly by what we call a micro faction.
14:02So I'm going to take a couple of steps back. We have the two main factions of the game, right?
14:05The Spartans and the Athenians constantly vying for control of territory, but inside of that, I mean, they aren't the
14:10only ones who live here, right?
14:11We have other factions that are alive inside our world.
14:14We have the daughters of Artemis that we're going to live, that we're going to meet in just a few
14:18moments.
14:19They, they're a group of hunters and huntresses who are, are, uh, focused on nature.
14:24We have the followers of Artemis, these kind of cult-like zealots, uh, who are, they're quite aggressive and they're
14:30very mean.
14:31They're, they're fun to kill.
14:32We have, um, you know, the cult of Cosmos that we're going to hunt down.
14:36Um, their, their soldiers roam the world as well.
14:39And, you know, the bandits as well.
14:40So the island of Chios that we're going to is really populated by, um, these daughters of Artemis who happen
14:47to also be kind of your gateway to, uh, the legendary animals.
14:50So there are, there are animals all over the world, but a few of them are special, shall we say?
14:56Yeah.
14:56So hunting them down and, uh, and bringing them back is something that's, uh, part, another, another part of the
15:01story.
15:02Completely optional, I might add, but that you can go ahead and do in the world.
15:05Yeah.
15:05I think, you know, what we're also, you know, seeing some, some ship sailing here.
15:10The water is absolutely gorgeous.
15:11I love these zoomed out shots.
15:12It's crazy, isn't it?
15:13Oh my God.
15:14We were, the team is so proud of what they've accomplished with it.
15:17Oh, they should be.
15:19Uh, yeah.
15:20I, the thing I love about the daughters of Artemis too, is that it, it kind of frames that this
15:24is a world that's still very much guided by, you know, religion and belief in, in these, in these deities.
15:31Artemis obviously being a Greek deity.
15:33This period has people believing, um, all, all sorts of, of, of things.
15:38Some don't believe in deities at all.
15:40Uh, some believe in, uh, it's, uh, the diversity of, uh, of beliefs is really impressive.
15:47And even inside specific, uh, like, beliefs, they'll have different stories for different deities.
15:52And you kind of, it's, it's actually really difficult to keep track of.
15:55But it makes it super fun to tie them into the quest.
15:58So you could have, you could, you talk to somebody whose personal beliefs are about this particular God.
16:04And you can weave a whole story just about him or her and their beliefs and how they affect their
16:08lives.
16:09Uh, it's a tremendous amount of fun.
16:10Yeah.
16:11So we're seeing a lot of blue sailed ships here.
16:13Who are these?
16:14So these, the blue cells, uh, represent the Athenians.
16:16So Chios right now is controlled by, uh, Athens.
16:19I'm assuming, because usually, uh, the blue ships mean that, uh, are allowed to swim there, uh, to, sorry, to
16:25sail there, uh, when we control the nation.
16:28But, uh, so Spartans have their ships too, that, that protect their territories.
16:32Yeah.
16:33We also, in, on the waters, we also have merchant ships and pirate ships.
16:37Uh, you know, if you start shooting on merchant ships, well, then you'll gain the attention of mercenaries, uh, who'll
16:43come after you and punish you for being a very naughty Spartan.
16:46Um, yeah, because obviously in the, in the story, you're, you're a mercenary yourself, but you also can get tracked
16:54down by mercenaries.
16:54The, the mercenary system is a huge system inside the game and it's basically law enforcement, right?
16:59So you will commit an act, uh, a, a bad act.
17:03I would have to say that, like, you can kill somebody, uh, in front of other people, kill a civilian,
17:07maybe steal something.
17:08You're not going to get desynchronized this time.
17:10No, you don't get desynchronized.
17:11You get, people get mad at you.
17:13They get mad at you, they put money on your head and they go, all right, this guy just, I
17:16don't know,
17:16he ransacked, he killed my three goats and then he ransacked my, my, my, my, my treasure or whatever.
17:21So now, uh, so I'm a mercenary inside the world is going to grab that bounty.
17:25He's going to come after you.
17:26And we actually have a ladder system where these mercenaries exist in the world at all times.
17:30They're not just, uh, they don't, they don't spawn when they need to be spawned.
17:33They're, they're always there and they come, they come hunting after you.
17:36So you can either like pay for your bounty.
17:37So you can directly pay money to the sponsor.
17:40It's kind of like a hush money type thing.
17:41or, you know, you can do the head to head with that mercenary and sometimes they're going to be pretty
17:45powerful.
17:46But, you know, when they're powerful and the challenge is there, then the rewards are there too.
17:50Yeah.
17:52And, you know, the first time too, that killing the people that are coming after you isn't your only option,
17:57right?
17:58Uh, it's no, not always.
18:00The mercenaries make it really tough to talk to them.
18:02Okay.
18:02There are a lot of instances in the game where, yeah, you can, as opposed to, you know, taking the
18:05violent method and then personally as a gamer,
18:08this is what I've always tried to do is just like, is there a way we can talk this out?
18:11Yeah.
18:12Like, I mean, sure.
18:13I'll give you a couple of bucks if maybe we can negotiate or like, maybe I'll help you out.
18:17I'll, you know, I'll find something that your daughter needs or whatever.
18:20And then we can go or so on separate ways without any bloodshed.
18:23For me as a gamer, those are the moments that I like the best.
18:26Yeah.
18:27So, you're coming up, see, this is a huntress camp right here, and the key is hidden in the back.
18:33We just saw it just a few minutes ago.
18:35They're all, the place is packed.
18:37And they're not going to take very kindly to you coming in there and stealing their stuff.
18:41Yeah.
18:42So, we just saw there that, you know, we sort of, we scouted out with Egros.
18:46Egros, yeah.
18:46And now we waited until nighttime to attack this camp.
18:50Yeah.
18:50So, it's just, it makes more sense, right, to attack stealthily during the night.
18:54Oh, yeah.
18:54So, meditation allows you to wait half the day and just switch it over.
19:03So, we have a lot of, we have an entire ability tree that's dedicated just to being an assassin.
19:08So, this is where you can put ability points to, you know, do more damage when you sneak up behind
19:13somebody.
19:14Or, you know, when you get to those last tiers of skills, you can actually be, you can purchase, like,
19:19the chameleon skill,
19:20which allows you to be invisible for a short time.
19:22There's a lot of stuff that, that caters specifically to this type of gameplay.
19:27Yeah.
19:27So, yeah.
19:27That was an amazing ability.
19:29I love that one.
19:30Yeah.
19:30You throw your spear and you just come right up to it and pull it out of the person.
19:34And you're moving, you can move through the environment by using this ability.
19:37It's amazing.
19:38Yeah.
19:39That is so cool.
19:40And we, you know, we saw in the lower left-hand corner there, what are those, Zach?
19:44Are those the abilities we have?
19:45So, you have so many abilities that you can't use them all at once.
19:48You can only use four at a time.
19:49So, you map them to the face buttons and then you can hold left bumper and you hit your face
19:53buttons depending on which one you want to call.
19:59And can we, are these able to be used endlessly?
20:02How do we, how do you mitigate?
20:04You'll see at the bottom of the screen, there's the adrenaline meter.
20:07So, we were talking about fighting earlier.
20:09We put the players in a situation where they're, they'll tend to be more aggressive, right?
20:14We give them reasons to attack that, that, those attacks will generate adrenaline and make them, and allow them to
20:21spend the adrenaline to use their abilities.
20:23So, it's like this vicious loop of aggression where the more I'm aggressive, the more I have adrenaline, the more
20:27I use my abilities, the more I'm making adrenaline, et cetera, et cetera.
20:30That's really, that's, that's what we were going for.
20:33Just in terms of the overall feeling of combat for Odyssey, we wanted to make sure that you were just,
20:38you were the, you know, the instigator.
20:40Yeah, there's this, the awesome loop of, okay, I need to fight so I can build up the adrenaline, so
20:45I can use an ability, and then sort of, you know, go back and forth between your strategies.
20:49Yeah, and you get that Spartan kick out.
20:51Oh, God.
20:53It's funny, too, I know that, you know, the geographic, you know, topography of, of Greece adds a lot of
21:01verticality to this game.
21:02Yes.
21:02Which makes it so satisfying to Spartan kick people off of cliffs.
21:05There are so many places where you can do it, and when you, when you get it just right, I'm
21:09telling you,
21:10there's no feeling like it.
21:11The first time, it must have been a, a, a, a couple of years ago, when I, when I joined
21:15the team, and I finally got to start playing around with this,
21:18and I got my first Spartan kick right off a cliff.
21:22It's so, you, you'll scream out loud.
21:24It's insane.
21:25Uh, so, we've acquired the key.
21:28And, uh, we're now returning to Greece in this petrified forest.
21:32Exactly.
21:32And we're going to open that door and find out what's hiding behind it.
21:37But you can't forget that Greece is there because the love of her life is in trouble.
21:41Oh, yes.
21:43The mercenary carried this spear, which she claims killed the rank of Greg.
21:48No, no, the creature took it here.
21:50So, we only really, we, we saw one path of getting into this temple, you know, going to the darkness
21:55of Artemis and acquiring this key.
21:57But, uh, that's not the only way that we could have gone about this quest, right?
22:01Um, I think, well, to pick up the, the, uh, the disc, you had to go through, uh, the camp.
22:06Okay.
22:07You had to go through, but, but, uh, I know there's a, there's an option to talk to someone, maybe,
22:11who, who claims to have defeated the Ryzen.
22:13I, you know what, I didn't, I didn't play it that way.
22:15Oh, really?
22:15Yeah, I'm sorry.
22:16I've always played it that way.
22:17No, that's so funny.
22:18No, it's great, because I, I played it both ways.
22:20I wanted to investigate.
22:21How did you play it?
22:22So, I, you know, you're presented this option of, of, hey, there's this mercenary who claims to have killed the
22:27Writhing Dread.
22:28Go talk to him, see, see what, what, how he did it, what, you know, what, what's going on.
22:32If you really killed it, why is it still taking people?
22:34Uh, and so you go talk to him, you, you, I don't want to spoil what happens, but, uh, it's
22:38one way to go about it.
22:40And then, uh, if you, if you want to do both, you can still, you know, you can talk to
22:43him, you can go to the Daughters of Artemis, you can do it in any order you want to.
22:46I, I see, I'm going to need that second playthrough.
22:48Because, in, just in terms of quests in the game, I think we, we went past.
22:53There are three, like, there's so much content.
22:56I, I'd be lying if I told you that I was able to play every version of every quest that's
23:01in the game.
23:01I, there aren't enough hours in the day.
23:04Yeah, this is just one of those, you know, quests and we already see how much variability it has.
23:08Yep, yep, yep.
23:09So, we're inside of this Petrified Temple now, finally.
23:11Oh, yeah, that's creepy stuff.
23:13Oh, yeah, gosh.
23:14I see why the horse doesn't want to come in.
23:20The floating ash gets me every time.
23:23It's just, ugh.
23:24Oh, yeah.
23:25I mean, it, it, you know, we were speaking about environmental diversity before.
23:29This feels like unlike anything that we've seen thus far.
23:32This is not something that we're going to be reusing anywhere else.
23:34I mean, this is really unique to this portion of the game.
23:36Um, it's not, it's all handcrafted.
23:39It's all custom made.
23:40Um, and the funny thing is, it's, it's optional.
23:43You don't even have to do this.
23:44It's end game content and, uh, it's not recycled.
23:48It, it's all unique stuff.
23:53There are just, there's no game over for this game.
23:55It's just, it just keeps going.
23:56It just always keeps going.
23:58And this is something that you could do even after you finished a main campaign.
24:02Yeah.
24:03Oh, yeah.
24:03You can, you can jump into this quest line at any time you want, given that you have
24:06the right level, but, uh, there she is.
24:10Oh, here we go.
24:10There she is.
24:11Writhing dread.
24:12You hadn't figured it out yet.
24:14It's Medusa.
24:17Why does it always have to be snakes, right?
24:20That's a great.
24:22Boy.
24:23Ooh.
24:24That's going to leave a mark.
24:25Space!
24:30Yeah.
24:31The entire, the entire fight with Medusa was built by the Bucharest studio.
24:35Wow.
24:36Shout out to Ubisoft Bucharest.
24:37Yeah.
24:37Absolutely.
24:38They did a fantastic job.
24:41So, what, walk us through this fight a little bit.
24:43What, what sort of abilities does Medusa have?
24:45It looks like she's trying to stare her gaze down at us.
24:47So she can, she has the classic gaze, right?
24:50Uh, if you stay in it too long, you'll turn, you can see the, the character slowing down right
24:53now.
24:53Uh, she also has the ability to call the souls that she's already, one of the funny things
24:58is you'll see that when she does call the, the additional soldiers, they all have names.
25:02Oh, right.
25:02So these are all like soldiers that came into her lair and we're, and we're, I was going
25:06to say eaten up, but we're, we're like, uh, destroyed by her.
25:09But they still carry their names when they come attack you, uh, playing her bidding.
25:14Yeah.
25:15Yeah, and she has these great area of effects that you have to dodge out of the way as well.
25:19Yeah.
25:19And then find that one opportunity when she gives you, uh, that opening.
25:24So here we're using an, uh, an adrenaline attack, is that it?
25:27Or what, what is this exactly?
25:28That's probably, uh, just additional damage.
25:33She's not going to let you do that for long.
25:36You see, I mean, she's, we've put quite a few hits on her already and she's still got
25:41quite a bit of health left.
25:42Yeah, yeah, she's one of the, absolutely one of the toughest fights in the game.
25:46Uh, like, it, it, it is end content.
25:48Yeah.
25:49We don't want to, we don't want this to be easy anyway, right?
25:51No, you're not doing this as a, as a level one Spartan person here, you know, in sandals
25:55and rods.
26:01Ooh.
26:03Laid down some good damage there.
26:04She teleports away.
26:08So, yeah.
26:09Calling those soldiers, see, those are the ones, they all have their, their own names.
26:12Oh, God.
26:12I thought that was a great touch.
26:14Stephanos the builder.
26:16Yeah.
26:18Oh, yeah.
26:19So, yeah, you got to.
26:20Always on the verge of turning the stone there.
26:22I gotta say, that looks like a very useful ability there.
26:25Oh, yeah, absolutely.
26:25Absolutely.
26:26And he's got it tuned, uh, right up high.
26:30Because each of the abilities that we have has different levels that you keep investing
26:33in, keep making sure that, you know, it gets more and more damage, more and more powerful.
26:38He's clearly, uh, maxed out.
26:40Yeah, so not only can you unlock the ability, you can level it up.
26:43Oh, yeah, absolutely.
26:44Absolutely.
26:45And these abilities all come from, you know, one of the weapons he's got, right?
26:48Which is the.
26:49No, the abilities are independent from the weapons, but the weapons will give you, uh, opportunities
26:53to engrave them and do additional damage as well.
26:55Okay.
26:55So, depending on whatever, if you want to use a sword or a dagger or a heavy weapon, a blunt
27:00weapon, whatever, all of those can be upgraded and they can be engraved.
27:04So, like, if you want to do fire damage with your giant hammer, then you can do that and
27:08you can focus on, on, on getting that type of damage.
27:12So, we just saw it there again, like, you know, he's, uh, Alexios holds up a spear, right?
27:16What, what, what spear is that?
27:17So, the spear is, uh, a connection to the first civilization.
27:21It is the spear of Leonidas.
27:23Okay.
27:23It was, it belonged to his grandfather who fought, uh, the battle of Triana.
27:28I'm not going to say any more about that.
27:29Okay.
27:30Um, and it is now in your possession.
27:32And it, uh, it does give him, uh, combat powers that, uh, a normal man might not have.
27:38Mm, okay.
27:39That's how you get those, those areas of effect.
27:41Yeah, exactly.
27:42Those area of effect, the, the, the spear is the key to everything.
27:47All right, you can, uh, depending on if you go on, uh, if you fall into the cultist hunting.
27:53So, we have an entire organization of conspiracy theories that you can hunt down and they each
27:57carry, uh, a little shard that you can accumulate and then bring to a forge and upgrade the actual
28:03spear itself.
28:04So, it does more damage and it does, uh, and it's just more powerful.
28:08Very cool.
28:09Yep.
28:11We're getting to the end of this fight.
28:13Oh, yeah, yeah.
28:13Oh, that's, that looked painful.
28:16Yeah, maybe not.
28:18Oh, so we just, uh, it looks like Alexos just used, uh, another ability to heal himself
28:22up a little bit.
28:23Oh, yeah.
28:23That one, it becomes essential when, when you're doing high damage stuff like this.
28:29He, the, the player is actually doing a, wow, a really good job.
28:33That combo is amazing.
28:35Yeah, it gives you a little bit of a second wind in a, in a, in a tough fight like
28:38this.
28:39One more hit and she's gone.
28:43Yeah, as we've been watching this too, I'm just, like, appreciating how much you have
28:46to navigate the space while you're fighting off these, these stone soldiers attacking
28:50you while using the columns to avoid her gaze.
28:52Yeah, they're, you know, they're staples of Assassin's Creed.
28:55You can't do just fight.
28:56You can't do just navigation.
28:57It's always better when you can mix everything up together.
29:00So, yeah, we did it.
29:01Throwing as many challenges as you can to the player is always the best.
29:06And here's kind of, I was surprised that we actually made this public, but I, I really
29:11was, it's the type of stuff we keep secret for people, uh, they can discover on their
29:15own.
29:16But if you know the lore, if you know the license, that is something special.
29:23So, uh, yeah, as always, you know, Assassin's Creed's got some, some pieces of Eden.
29:28Yeah.
29:29In the background.
29:29We, we're not neglecting that.
29:31Yeah.
29:31The spear is not the only thing.
29:34Which, you know, helps explain a little bit of the, these mythological figures and beings.
29:38Absolutely.
29:38You know, everything that we do has to be based in a rational world.
29:42It has to be based, it has to be, it makes sense inside of the lore of the universe that
29:47we build.
29:48We don't just throw around stuff because it's cool.
29:50It has to make sense.
29:51So yeah, the mythical creatures are people who have been corrupted by pieces.
29:56of the lore of the universe.
29:56It happens as though看到 the mother of the mother of death.
