00:00Blizzard conditions right now across the Midwest, that's where we find extreme storm chaser Aaron Jajak.
00:07He joins us right now with a pile of snow behind you.
00:10You can see the cold air with your breath out there.
00:14Tell us what you've been seeing lately.
00:17Yeah, we had a powerhouse storm system come through the United States this weekend,
00:21and we are up here in Minnesota and Minneapolis in the cold sector.
00:25You know, a classic March storm system with that battle of winter and the battle of spring.
00:30We've got the severe down in the southern part of the United States, east coast today.
00:33But all weekend here, starting on Saturday, Saturday night across Minneapolis, Minnesota.
00:38I started way back west in Fargo, North Dakota.
00:41We started getting snow there, and it never stopped snowing until yesterday afternoon here in Minneapolis.
00:46That snow finally started to taper off.
00:49Roadways were really impacted here over the weekend.
00:52Travel was real difficult.
00:53You know, they were trying to keep up with the snow, but it was coming down so heavy.
00:56They weren't able to keep those roadways clear.
00:59They were able to keep some of the heavier snow off the roadways, so there wasn't deep snow on the
01:03roadways, but rough roads.
01:04People trying to drive around were getting stuck in cars not capable of driving around in this.
01:08Lots of slide-offs.
01:10Eventually, that snow finally tapered off late afternoon, and at the end of the night, we still had some occasional
01:14snow showers,
01:15but those wind gusts started really picking up and blowing that snow around, causing drifting problems and stuff here.
01:20And we do still have blizzard warnings in effect right now, but those should go into effect later today for
01:26the southern portions of Minnesota.
01:28Lots of road closures down there in that extreme southern Minnesota, right along that state line with Iowa.
01:32In fact, most notably, I-90, Interstate 90, is still shut down there right now, so we're trying to clear
01:37that out until cars eventually start moving through that major corridor.
