00:16designed to speed up operations and improve accuracy in product distribution.
00:22This facility is home to the first ever automated storage and retrieval system
00:29in the English-speaking Caribbean, a milestone not just for Massey but for the entire region.
00:36The system uses robotics to retrieve and transport items across the warehouse,
00:41reducing repetitive manual tasks and improving efficiency across the supply chain.
00:47This technology, which provides capacity for 3,800 pick-in pilot spaces, is here to elevate our talent.
00:56Automation removes repetitive and physically demanding tasks,
01:02allowing our teams to focus on higher-value activities,
01:07decision-making, operational oversight,
01:10and delivering exceptional service to many of you who are here or customers.
01:16The technology also incorporates light and weight verification systems
01:21to ensure the accuracy of every order selected.
01:25Massey says the new facility has doubled its operational capacity,
01:29allowing faster order processing and improved service for customers.
01:34When our customers come to pick up a delivery, it's a lot more efficient for them.
01:39So it is not just that we can have a faster throughput,
01:42so we can have more output through the system.
01:45It is safer for our people and also for our customers,
01:48it's a lot more efficient and effective for them.
01:50President and CEO James McClatchy says the investment is not just about technology
01:56but empowering the company's workforce.
01:58We believe that when we equip our people with the tools they need,
02:02and that includes technology, extraordinary things will happen.
02:06Wait till I get off the stage and you see what happens in the back.
02:09You'll see extraordinary things.
02:12Technology and automation are becoming pivotal drivers of competitiveness in modern supply chains.
02:18And at this point in the world, what you're hearing a lot about is resilient supply chains.
02:23And this becomes more and more important, not just to us at Massey, but the entire region.
02:29Former Massey employee and now planning minister Kennedy Swarad Singh welcomed the development,
02:34saying it demonstrates the type of private sector innovation needed to boost economic growth.
02:40This is precisely the kind of private sector leadership that Trinidad and Tobago needs.
02:45Investments that combines technology, skills development and long-term competitiveness.
02:51So today we celebrate you.
02:52We celebrate not just this infrastructure, but your vision.
02:56The minister says modern logistics and digital systems can also help improve TNT's ease of doing business rankings.
03:03It is estimated that between 2021 and 2025, this country would have lost upwards of $20 billion in investments
03:11because of slow processes and bureaucratic inertia.
03:17We recognize that time is one of the most valuable resources for any business.
03:22Therefore, by reducing administrative delays and improving coordination among state agencies,
03:27we are making Trinidad and Tobago a more competitive destination for investment.
03:31Looking ahead, the government says efforts to improve the investment climate continue,
03:36with the World Bank expected to establish an office in Port of Spain within the next two months.
03:42What they are bringing is capital for the private sector to expand, to have access,
03:49and of course to get a better cost of financing as you seek to build in your various industries.
03:56Massey, meanwhile, plans to expand the automated warehouse model to Guyana,
04:01with construction expected to begin within the next month.
