00:00I'm now for tonight's Toyota poll question.
00:03Who would you like to see get more playing time for the go to State Warriors in Steph Curry's absence?
00:08Well, we're Richard got back in the lineup there, played solid basketball.
00:12Keith Santos is going to play going to play a lot of minutes here.
00:14L.J. Cryer or Nate Williams going to get a QR code right now and vote on that.
00:19We'll reveal the answers during our fourth quarter hit during tonight's Warriors and T-Wolves game.
00:24L.J. Cryer playing some good basketball right now.
00:26We'll get to that in just a second.
00:27But you know what? School spirit never dies. I always hear you talk about St. John's.
00:30You love your Vanderbilt Commodores.
00:32Well, L.J. Cryer, he's going to learn the hard way here.
00:35He lost a bet and is wearing Steve Kerr's Arizona jersey during yesterday's shoot-around
00:40because the Houston Cougars were unable to beat the Arizona Wildcats,
00:45who are the number one team in the country.
00:46Just won on a buzzer beater against Iowa State in the Big 12 semifinals.
00:50Well, if Houston beats Kansas today, there will be a rebats between Houston and Arizona.
00:55You got to bet that there will be another gamble between L.J. Cryer and Steve Kerr.
00:59But all joking aside, L.J. Cryer is playing some good basketball right now, Fezzi.
01:03On a two-way contract, 17 points the other night, 6-7 for the free-throw line.
01:08Nice story here for L.J. Cryer.
01:10L.J. Cryer has been incredible.
01:12And at just 6 feet tall, he's shooting almost 50% from the three-point line.
01:16Like, he is very efficient.
01:18He has quickly adapted to this warrior system, really came in after his injury,
01:23looks really good physically, but also he's just adapted and understood his role.
01:28He's coming to the game, he's playing more minutes, and his job is to score.
01:30He's delivered.
01:31He's been impressive.
01:33His three-point shooting, he shoots like Steve Kerr.
01:36Steve Kerr is the all-time leading three-point shooter percentage-wise in NBA history.
01:40L.J. Cryer is off to a good start as a warrior.
01:44Big, small, compact body.
01:45He's built like Tim Hardaway Sr.
01:47Tough guy.
01:49Universe Houston, Cougar.
01:51Played for Kelvin Sampson, so you know he's a tough defender.
01:53He's off to a great start in his young NBA career.
01:56This is the part of the year that I miss being in a locker room.
01:59I love the fact that March Madness, because everybody comes from different universities,
02:03some guys from overseas, but everybody comes from different schools.
02:05And this is the part where everybody's in the locker room.
02:07We're talking smack about our different teams.
02:10I remember Draymond always yelling, Spardy!
02:13Talking about his Michigan State dogs.
02:15And now, my Vanderbilt Commodores, we got some bragging rights right now.
02:19Beat Tennessee tonight, right?
02:20Beat Tennessee, that god-awful orange.
02:21What's the name of the coach for the Giants?
02:24No, Tony Vitello.
02:26We got something to talk about.
02:27We got something to talk about the basketball coach, Rick Barsher.
02:29No, no, no.
02:30And Mully, you know he loves to see John's University.
02:32They beat Seton Hall today.
02:34They're going to the Big East Championship.
02:35We're on a roll.
02:35We have a chance to get to the Final Four.
02:37Rick Pitino working his magic.
02:40Yeah, so March Madness has always been a crapshoot.
02:43With the NIL and the Transfer Portal, more than ever is a crapshoot.
02:47Well, don't get started with March Madness, because you got Kalina Azebuki over there.
02:50Buki!
02:50Kentucky Wildcats.
02:51Lost to the Gators today, huh?
02:52He loves his Notre Dame fighting Ivers.
02:54How do you think we figured out the NIL?
02:55We call it Kentucky.
02:56Yeah, exactly.
02:57They had the blueprint.
02:58Right, Fitz?
02:59Guys, we're off on a bad note right now.
03:01This is not the way this conversation is going.
03:04Hey, Fitz, NIL in Kentucky has been going on for 50 years, right?
03:07What, NIL?
03:08Is that what they call it?
03:09Should I just leave?
03:10You just do this crossover alone.
03:12What do I just call a catch-up?
03:13I'm back on that, Mookie, as well.
03:15No, in all seriousness, the Warriors need to get away before this game, Rocha.
03:20And they're going to have to play a desperate Minnesota Timberwolves team
03:22that has lost three straight by 27, 15, and 24.
03:26What can the Warriors do to gain some consistency,
03:29whether it's points at a paint, taking care of the basketball,
03:32or just keeping somebody off the glass, Fitz?
03:35Well, the last four games, Bonte, they've been in all the games into the final minute.
03:40They've got to channel that Denver win, that Houston win,
03:43where you hang in there against a really good team
03:46and somehow find a way to win.
03:48Maybe Seth Curry hits a couple threes.
03:50Maybe Porzingis has a big night.
03:53They're getting seven, eight guys in double figures,
03:55but someone's got to have, we're talking L.J. Cryer, a breakout game.
03:59Right, someone's got to get hot.
04:00They're competitive, though.
04:01Like we're saying, it's a mental lapse here.
04:04It's a bad decision there where you're not driving when maybe you should.
04:09You're missing opportunities to drive consistently throughout the game.
04:13But, Molly, I was thinking about this game against the Timberwolves.
04:15They go ISO a ton.
04:17They're trying to get to where they're moving the ball a little more,
04:19but they do have Anthony Edwards.
04:21They do have Randall, who love to go ISO.
04:23Back in your playing days, run TMC,
04:26when a team is coming up against you and you know they go ISO this much,
04:30what's the defensive mentality?
04:31What are you thinking about when it comes to just moving your feet on the ball
04:34so you don't have to help as much?
04:35Because this Timberwolves team, they're fifth in three-point shooting percentage, Mike.
04:38Yeah, you've got to show Anthony Edwards as many bodies as possible.
04:42Give him nothing easy in transition.
04:44Keep him off the free throw line.
04:46But I'm looking at some of these stats that I'm looking forward to tonight.
04:49The fast break points in the paint combination.
04:52The Timberwolves average 66.
04:54The combination for the Warriors of the fast breaking points is 56.
04:57So they're minus 10.
04:58But as you mentioned, Buki and Fitz, the bench can really take advantage.
05:03So I'm looking at how the starters can keep this game close.
05:07The Minnesota Timberwolves starters, they account for 88 points per game.
05:11But their bench only 33.
05:13So get into their bench, have the starters keep it close.
05:16And as you said, Fitz, these close games execute at the end.
05:21So, Festus, Nas Reed has a career highlight reel against the Warriors.
05:27I've never seen a guy love to play the Dubs as much as Nas Reed.
05:31If you're a reserve coming in, can you get Nas Reed bothered early so he doesn't get in that rhythm
05:38and seems like he owns Chase Center every time he plays?
05:41Yeah, Fitz, what I see with the Warriors right now is, you know, defensively,
05:47you've got to make sure you affect the ball early.
05:49Like the games that the Warriors have won so far, they have turned the other team over,
05:54had them get a lot of turnovers, get easy baskets from that.
05:57That disrupts the other team's offense as well.
05:59So if you can get Anthony Edwards, Julius Randolph, you can get them playing one-on-one
06:04and you get them to not move the ball, not get their bench involved,
06:07this takes away from the Minnesota Timberwolves their point of attack
06:10and that gets them playing to the Warriors' hands.
06:12So that's the game plan for the Warriors.
06:14Doves trying to get back to their winning ways here at Chase Center, just 19-14 this season.
06:18Boy, can they use a home win before the six-game road trip beginning Sunday in New York City.
06:23We send it back to the Lazy Boy broadcast booth.
06:25Fitzabuki, have a great call tonight.
06:27All right, Bonte.
06:28You think about the Warriors' last four games.
06:31Okay, they're in all these games, okay?
06:34They're just in the final seconds.
06:36And without Jimmy Butler, without Steph Curry,
06:39they don't have someone to make that one last play that they need.
06:42Yet, you're playing good enough basketball to still be there.
06:45You could have won four games in a row and be feeling much different about things.
06:48But that's how it is when you're this shorthanded, right?
06:51There's no room for error.
06:53It's one mistake here.
06:55It's a bad decision there.
06:57It's a mental lapse at the end of the game.
06:58But the good thing is you're in those games
07:01and you're trying to come out and have a good performance against a hungry,
07:04super hungry Timberwolves team that's angry.
07:07Before you go on this long road trip, have a performance you can feel good about.
07:10Well, Kay just said you could have won four in a row.
07:12Look how tight the last four games have been
07:16because they've come down to one sequence, one missed shot, one foul, one free throw,
07:22and you've lost three.
07:23Now, Minnesota's lost three in a row by double figures.
07:26So, they both want to win, but the Warriors are playing good basketball,
07:30just not getting it done.
07:31That's the thing.
07:31You win that Houston game and you found this new competitive fire.
07:36We can compete against anybody no matter who's playing.
07:39And now it's like, okay, we're in these games.
07:43Let's see if we can execute.
07:44Let's see if we can have better decision-making throughout the game
07:48so we can be in a better position at the end of the game.
07:50Let's see if we can stay away from some of the mistakes and mental lapses
07:53and get over the hump in some of these games
07:54because you're trying to find wins wherever you can.
07:57You're hunting wins.
07:58Let's helicopter view the Western standings because both teams are desperate tonight.
08:03Not only the Warriors are probably going to be in the 9-10 game, just to be honest,
08:06but you'd like to host that 9-10 game, Minnesota, though, is in danger of falling into the play-in.
08:12Right.
08:12Portland is still playing hard.
08:14Obviously, Phoenix is still playing hard.
08:16They're right on the Timberwolves' heels, and the Timberwolves feel them.
08:19They can smell their breaths.
08:20They're so close.
08:21So, the sense of urgency is through the roof on both sides here.
08:25So, something's got to give.
08:27Warriors want to come out.
08:27Get off to a great start here.
08:29See if you can kind of set the tone, send a message.
08:32We're in this game.
08:32We're going to be here.
08:33You're going to feel us all the way throughout, and then see what happens in the end.
08:36What a great league we have talent-wise right now, whether it's Shea or Jokic or Luka.
08:42But Anthony Edwards is right there.
08:45What a superstar this kid is at age 24.
08:48Our Xfinity powerful performance.
08:50Every year, we see him to run all-new career highs.
08:53He gets better each season.
08:54He hasn't stopped ascending since he got in the NBA.
08:57Warriors are going to try to stop his ascension tonight.
08:59You're probably going to see a lot of double teams, a lot of bodies around him make him make decisions.
09:05And he's so good at making the decisions and trying to figure out, okay, when do I make sure my
09:09teammates are going?
09:10Because he could come out and say, I just want to get 40, 50 points every single night.
09:13But how many games do they win like that?
09:15So, it's about, okay, let me make sure my teammates are involved.
09:18Dee Vincenzo is feeling good.
09:19Julius Randall is feeling good.
09:20Gobert is feeling good.
09:21I can get mine.
09:22So, Warriors want to make him think tonight, but show him a lot of bodies, a lot of different looks.
09:27Well, this time of year for the Warriors, you're kind of taking attendance in terms of injuries and who's available.
09:32You still don't have Moses Moody, and you don't have Draymond Green tonight with a back issue.
09:36So, Kristaps Porzingis will make his first Warriors start.
09:40A big lineup for the Warriors.
09:42Al Horford and Porzingis playing together.
09:45KP getting healthy.
09:46Can shoot threes.
09:47Can protect the rim.
09:48And they'll need him scoring for sure.
09:50Warriors and T-Wolves coming your way.
09:53Bonta and the guys back at the gatehouse coming up next.
10:03Warrior Basketball on NBC Sports Bay Area is brought to you by Toyota.
10:09Class-leading MPG and more hybrid models than any other brand.
10:13Toyota.
10:14Let's go places.
10:17By Jack in the Box.
10:18The hot mess is back as a munchie meal for Jack's 75th anniversary.
10:24And by the Bay Area BMW Centers.
10:29NBA history.
10:31A 53-minute odyssey featuring improbable comebacks.
10:34High-stakes moments.
10:36An unbelievable shot-making tonight after Doves Talk Live on NBC Sports Bay Area.
10:42Bang!
10:43Bang!
10:44Oh, what a shot!
10:45Your buddy Mike Breen, Mully.
10:46The great Mike Breen.
10:48Incredible shot by Steph Curry.
10:49Incredible call by Mike Breen.
10:53And it's funny.
10:53Like, when I think about that game, I feel like it was a playoff game.
10:58It was an amazing...
10:59You were there.
11:01Incredible game.
11:02I still try to figure out what Steph saw.
11:04Like, he just saw a little bit of space.
11:07And he was beyond half court...
11:09Or before...
11:09Right after half court.
11:10And he just lets it go.
11:11That's how good he was feeling at that point.
11:13Steph Curry was on a tear.
11:14He got fouled.
11:15He was on a tear at that point.
11:16It's an insane game.
11:16Clay Thompson's game was overshadowed.
11:18He was dynamic with 30-plus points.
11:20Draymond Green had a monster double-double.
11:22KD on the other side.
11:23Real quickly.
11:24We're going to watch that after Doves Talk Live, of course.
11:26Quick key to tonight's game.
11:27I mean, you have to make sure you turn them over.
11:30Take care of the basketball tonight.
11:31Defense is going to be key.
11:32I'm excited to see Hartford and Prazingis together.
11:34A plus 283 together in Boston in 78 games.
11:37Warriors and Two Wolves coming on up.
11:39We'll see you at the half.
11:44The closing.
11:58We got the chain gang on a Friday night at Chase Center.
12:02They packed house again to see the Doves' final home game before the longest road trip of the season.
12:09Minnesota got beat up in L.A.
12:11They've lost three in a row all by double digits.
12:13The Warriors have lost three in a row, and every one of them was a teeth grinder in the final
12:18seconds
12:19and could have flipped so easily, and yet now you've got a super desperate Minnesota squad
12:26and a huge challenge and a huge man in the starting lineup tonight.
12:30The challenges don't get any easier.
12:32Christoph Porzingis will get to start.
12:35That'll be intriguing to see.
12:37You've got to deal with Anthony Edwards.
12:38Rudy Gobert really dominated the Warriors in their last battle, but on-ball defense is going to be super important.
12:44This team goes ISO a lot.
12:47Their ISO frequency is third in the league.
12:50Anthony Edwards is going to try to go at you.
12:51Julius Randle is going to pick his spots.
12:53You've got to slap the ground, move your feet, so you don't have to overhelp too much
12:57because they do shoot the three-ball really well.
12:59They're fifth when it comes to three-point shooting percentage.
13:01Don't miss opportunities to drive.
13:03This team will foul you.
13:05They're one of the worst fouling teams in the league.
13:07And then I think you've got to handle their pressure because you talked about they have lost three in a
13:11row.
13:12They just got smacked by the Clippers, and they scored 153 points against the Timberwolves.
13:17So defensively, they're trying to get back to defending at a high level.
13:21They're going to bring the pressure.
13:22You handle their pressure.
13:23You execute, and you've got to be decisive about where the ball is going tonight.
13:28That Clipper-Minnesota game was the weirdest game I've seen.
13:31Both teams shot better than 60% from the field.
13:3521 turnovers for the Timberwolves.
13:36That's the key.
13:37Turning the ball over.
13:40Undid any chance Minnesota would have had to win that game.
13:43So Melton, Pajemski, Guy Santos, Porzingis, and Horford.
13:46No Draymond Green, no Moody tonight.
13:49And Pajemski elbow jumper off iron for Minnesota.
13:53Dante DiVincenzo, Anthony Edwards with Jayden McDaniels, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gobert.
14:00Minnesota's beaten the Warriors two of the three times they've played.
14:03And DiVincenzo bottoming at three to open the scoring.
14:06I said they're fifth in the league, and three-point shooter saves.
14:09DiVincenzo's been a 40% three-point shooter his last four.
14:11That's a little flare screen there.
14:13Screening defender has to be up.
14:15Porzingis went show-and-go.
14:17Horford missing, and Pajemski, beautiful knockout.
14:20Al on a reload and drops it in.
14:22Now Gobert's not going to get out to Al Horford.
14:25So if he has a hot night, that really keeps Gobert away from the rim.
14:29And winning the possession battle will be huge for the Warriors.
14:32That'll go a long way, getting offensive rebounds as DiVincenzo misses a second three.
14:37And you've got to keep Gobert off the glass, an elite rebounder.
14:44It's a moving screen on Horford, and that'll be an offensive foul.
14:47Pat Frere, Marat Kogan, and Robert Hussey blowing the whistles tonight.
14:51Warriors really trying to get attention with screening.
14:53There's Chris Finch.
14:55Yeah, it's been a rough stretch for the Timberwolves on both sides.
14:58They did win five in a row before they lost.
15:00Well, they had won eight of nine before that three-game losing streak.
15:02Yeah, so it kind of came out of nowhere, and it's been frustrating.
15:06And Anthony Edwards has kind of taken the blame, but it's everybody.
15:10And they're going to try to find a way to have a better performance tonight.
15:14You've got to try to keep them down.
15:15Edwards just kind of hid behind Gobert but couldn't finish the layup.
15:19Jamski running with Fred.
15:20There's Horford.
15:21He's going to get all he can eat tonight.
15:23Now Al, you like him shooting open threes.
15:27He was three of ten against Chicago.
15:28And that's the Warriors trying to get out and get some transition offense before their defense is set, is Randle.
15:33Wow, what a finisher.
15:34Julius Randle.
15:35That was sick.
15:36He averages 21 a game.
15:38But there's your iso ball, right?
15:39You get a little mid-post action.
15:40He loves his face up.
15:42Horcinkis just went to lay that up and in and got his own rebound and put it back in.
15:47He just kind of took advantage of the switch there, even though Randle probably wanted to be on the bigger
15:51man.
15:51He was behind him.
15:52Just catch it, gather, find a way to power up.
15:55And Vincenzo, he covered a lot of ground without dribbling the ball.
16:00It was interesting.
16:01He kind of ricocheting around and was able to finish.
16:04Warriors have to find some stops, find some rhythm defensively.
16:10DeSantos hiding behind Porzingis.
16:12Chris stops.
16:13He has deep three-point range.
16:16You were saying in practice he wouldn't miss it, right?
16:18I was in practice yesterday, and Porzingis, one, he looks really spry, and two, watching him shoot is super fun.
16:25And DeVincenzo's the one closing out to him.
16:27He's not going to be able to contest that shot.
16:29Gobert shoved off to get that rebound, and then he was fouled.
16:33Well, this is what happened in their last game against the Timberwolves.
16:36Gobert was just all over the glass.
16:38But look at the pick and pop.
16:39Gobert's not going to get back there, so DeVincenzo's like, okay, I've got to peel off, see if I can
16:42get there.
16:43But that is a high release point.
16:46And I don't think Chris Stasporzingis saw DeVincenzo.
16:48It didn't bother him at all.
16:50Yeah, and with Gobert, all kinds of pushing and shoving inside.
16:54You can have inside position, but you almost have to bounce and go.
16:58If you stand there, he can move you out of the way.
17:01Yeah, or you have to kind of face guard him, just hug him, see what you can get away with,
17:05and then other guy's got to get in there and rebound and see if you can get him off his
17:10spot.
17:10It's not easy to do.
17:11Yeah, 51% free throwing.
17:14And yet, we've talked in recent years, he's simplified his mechanic and had was up above 70 last year.
17:21It's just kind of bottomed back down.
17:24Both of them went down this time.
17:26The Anthony Melton breaking the paint.
17:28Pajemski, a little show and go.
17:30Oh, he's removing the ball nicely in the early going.
17:33And Melton wide open.
17:35Off back iron there.
17:37And you saw Horford knock it to Guy Santos.
17:39He was patient enough to draw the foul.
17:42He was fine with Anthony Edwards.
17:43Anthony Edwards is holding on to his ankle, it looks like.
17:48He's a little worse for wear right now, but watch Anthony Edwards right there.
17:52It looked like he just kind of came down awkwardly.
17:55Anthony Edwards and Al Horford fighting.
17:57Al Horford won the battle.
17:58And Al just got the tip.
17:59Warriors are super intentional about crashing the offensive glass.
18:02Do you think in the last two years, the tipping to a teammate or tipping or batting it out, this
18:09has become a new part of the NBA?
18:10You almost try to not get the rebound if you can't.
18:13But with one hand, you can at least get it away from the other team.
18:16Just keep it alive, everybody crash.
18:18I think just crashing the offensive glass in general the last few years has gone up.
18:22And Al Horford, the bigs are involved, the guards.
18:26Guy Santos has always done a great job for the Warriors.
18:28Has a nose for the ball.
18:30We've always talked about Pajemski and his rebounding ability.
18:33So that's one way the Warriors have been competitive in these games.
18:37They're finding a way to be competitive.
18:38Missing enough shots, they'll get them.
18:41Guy knocking down both free throws.
18:45Gobert is a great screener.
18:46McDaniels an open three off back iron.
18:48As we talked, long rebound.
18:50Ricochet rebounds.
18:51And this time Minnesota wins the battle.
18:53And Gobert is fouled again.
18:55Now, Rudy Gobert, number one in field goal percentage in the NBA.
18:58It's 71% because he's dunking a lot.
19:01He's around the basket a lot like he just was.
19:03It's a double team on Anthony Edwards after the offensive rebound.
19:06You see the double team here.
19:08Anthony Edwards just kind of takes his time.
19:10And you've got Porzingis rotating over,
19:12which is the guy you'd probably want rotating over,
19:14the biggest Warrior out there.
19:15But he's got there just a step late.
19:18All right, so let's play the math game here.
19:20A 51% free thrower has made three free throws in a row.
19:25And it's four now.
19:27So mathematically, Gobert defying the odds.
19:31He's having a game so far.
19:34That means the free throws in the last couple of minutes
19:36are not going down.
19:37That's what you're saying?
19:38Get him out of the way early.
19:40Four for four becomes four for eight.
19:42Oh, Porzingis, you see the skill level there
19:44and a beautiful feed.
19:45So there's a back screen from Wojemski.
19:47That was really well executed.
19:50And that's the creativity you need against a solid defensive team.
19:53And DiVincenzo with a yank back.
19:55Missed that three.
19:56Melton pushing back the other way.
19:58Minnesota back nicely defensively.
20:02Anthony Melton with DiVincenzo on him.
20:05Porzingis another deep three.
20:06That one flat.
20:07And Minnesota headed the other way.
20:09Jayden McDaniels might be one of the best 3 and D guys
20:12in the entire league.
20:13I just feel like he's worked on his handle so much.
20:15It's on a string now.
20:16He's making like counter moves too.
20:18You can have him in jail
20:19and he can figure a way out of it with that handle now.
20:23Handle right to the rim.
20:24A little hesitation just froze, Porzingis.
20:28Yeah, Jayden McDaniels, all defense and 42% on threes.
20:32I mean, ideal for that role.
20:35He's got the ideal NBA wing body.
20:38With that leg, he has 6'9", 205.
20:41Shock pocket seven.
20:43Pajemski on DiVincenzo.
20:44Tough shot there.
20:46And here comes Edwards the other way.
20:49Anthony Edwards, the handle, the drop off,
20:53and the nice finish by Randall.
20:55So Anthony Edwards is in facilitation mode right now.
20:58And that's the Anthony Edwards that Chris Finch loves.
21:03Just a guy that's aggressive to make plays.
21:05He got in the paint there, just drop it off to his teammate.
21:08The Timberwolves are up three early right now,
21:10but got a close battle.
21:13Our BMW ultimate performer brought to you
21:16by your Bay Area BMW centers,
21:18Shea Gilgis-Alexander.
21:21This might be one of the most impressive NBA records there is.
21:25127 games with 20 or more.
21:28Did it to the Celtics last night.
21:30And consistency, it does not get any better than that.
21:35It is ridiculously impressive
21:37because you know how hard it is to score 20 points in an NBA game?
21:40To do it 127 times in a row and still be going.
21:45Well, the Vervo check-in, Kay.
21:47Look at the names on that graphic.
21:49Yeah.
21:50And we were talking about, like, a lot of the times,
21:52he doesn't even play in the fourth quarter
21:53because they're blowing people out.
21:54And he's going up against double teams the whole game almost
21:58and having to figure out these coverages,
22:00trying to make sure his teammates are involved.
22:02And he is just, he's like a metronome.
22:05He just comes out, he gets in his mid-range, walks around.
22:08Is that the quickest guy in the world that he finds a way to score?
22:11Good to see Quinton Post back after his foot injury.
22:15Seth Curry able to play.
22:16This is not a back-to-back.
22:18So, Seth rounding into form at double digits against Utah.
22:22Nice delivery from DeAnthony Melton to Quinton Post.
22:24He just kept his dribble alive.
22:26Kept dribbling around.
22:27Finally, you get a ball screen after the movement.
22:29And you've made him guard you for so long.
22:32Finally, they commit late.
22:33He drops it off late.
22:34Will Richard also out there.
22:37He's going to get Moody back.
22:39Eventually, hopefully, gets Steph back.
22:41And there's the bataway we talked about.
22:42Guy Santos could rebound that.
22:44Batted to a teammate.
22:45And Melton is held.
22:47And he'll go to the line.
22:48Yeah, he can get by pretty much anybody.
22:50He wants to, if he's resolute, he sees some space.
22:53The defense wasn't all the way back.
22:55That's what I'm saying.
22:56Intentional about trying to score and transition.
22:58Attack and transition.
23:00Here's the foul.
23:01You got one man to beat Anthony Edwards,
23:02who's a really good defender.
23:04But Anthony Melton's like, I can beat him.
23:06You see all the space, though?
23:07The next guy that could have got over was McDaniels.
23:10And he's got a long way to go.
23:12Nine Inch Nails come to the Peel It Back Tour right at Chase Center on Sunday.
23:17Get your tickets at chasecenter.com.
23:19Did you remember, man, the Anthony Melton in Memphis being this good a driver?
23:25Yeah, kind of.
23:26Remember, we were always talking about him being Mr. Do-Something.
23:29Like, he would do everything out there.
23:30I knew he was a good defender.
23:31I knew he had super long wingspan.
23:32But, like you said, he gets to the rim against everybody.
23:35Yeah, he's got that quickness.
23:37He doesn't really mess around with it too much.
23:39He's not going to dribble.
23:40There you go.
23:41He's going to make a good, hard move.
23:43Even if he has to do it with the dribble, it's going to quick cross over, in and out.
23:46He's going by you.
23:47All free throws down.
23:49Randall, that is a tough cover.
23:51Di Vincenzo flying in for that rebound.
23:54Lewis Randall is going to get his body into you, but that time, Guy Santos didn't foul.
23:58And the Warriors get the rebound.
23:59Don't be surprised when they get the offensive rebound.
24:01Just be ready to defend.
24:02Move your feet.
24:03That's the on-ball defense I'm talking about.
24:05That's Melton against a great defender.
24:07You see, Kalenda mentioned McDaniel's body and his length.
24:11Di Vincenzo denied the Warriors back defensively in their own right.
24:15And the key there on the other side, McDaniels didn't go for the pump fake,
24:18but the Warriors are getting back.
24:20And one of the issues that the Timberwolves have had the last three games
24:23is trying to fend twos.
24:25Teams have been dominating them when it comes to twos,
24:27especially in the restricted circle.
24:29Teams are shooting over 70%, and the Warriors have to take advantage of it.
24:33And I said, they'll foul you.
24:35They're 27 when it comes to personal fouls on the other side.
24:38You've got to test that.
24:39All right, Nas Reed has checked in.
24:41Pat Spencer also in.
24:42It's weird.
24:43He's shooting 19% for three-point range in March.
24:46Nas Reed is.
24:46So you don't want him to come out of that this game.
24:48Is Anthony Edwards missing there and posts with the rebound?
24:50You can test well and force to this.
24:53Nas Reed, captain of the All-Warrior opponent team.
24:57He sees this building, this logo, whatever it is.
25:01Seth Curry cycling it to Pat Spencer.
25:03Pat had 17 against Chicago, and he's got two.
25:06Ran already tonight.
25:08You love the movement there.
25:09It's like the wheel route.
25:10He just kept doing the wheel,
25:12and you've got a good setup for Seth Curry to come off of that.
25:15And then Pat Spencer was just falling at this.
25:18You get the ball pressure from Will Richard.
25:19Good help from Seth Curry, so Edwards couldn't get to the rim.
25:22Nas Reed is against the Warriors.
25:24What was he shooting in March again?
25:2519.
25:26You can throw that percentage out.
25:29That's 19.
25:30Daylight savings time, and then Nas Reed.
25:32Things that just happen every year, doesn't matter.
25:36Man, he just kills the Warriors.
25:41Went post, shot clock at 5, had that knocked away.
25:46Good game early.
25:48Both teams going back and forth.
25:50DiVincenzo for 3.
25:52Potempski the easy rebound.
25:55Minnesota 6 of 17, Dubbs 6 of 14.
25:59Brandon dropping in to 3.
26:01There was no hesitation there.
26:03Saw his man just cheating off just a little bit.
26:05There's Steph Curry.
26:06He approves.
26:10Edwards.
26:11His handle's gotten better.
26:12His 3-point shot's lethal.
26:14I mean, we'd say career best.
26:16Now it's over 40% from deep.
26:18Well, he saw Potempski.
26:18Huge volume.
26:19Right.
26:19He saw Potempski there, Stutton, just waited until he left,
26:22and then he rose up.
26:23Will Richard for 3.
26:25Created nicely by Potempski, just didn't go down.
26:28You're okay with the shot selection so far.
26:30Yeah, Warriors are 3 of 8 on triples.
26:34Pat's going to need some help there.
26:36Will Richard got there, but just in time to foul Edwards on the other side.
26:40So now he's in attack mode.
26:41All right.
26:43He's diagnosing the game.
26:44He's figuring out, okay, it's my time now.
26:47This time, McDaniels is cheating off just a little bit.
26:50And if you rise up right away, you give him no time.
26:52Look at the little ball fake.
26:54He got Potempski to go back to his man.
26:56Knew he had some time in between to rise up.
26:59Now, saying the way he's been in facilitation mode, trying to figure out that balance,
27:03because if he starts games early where he's just in go, go, go mode, ISO, ISO, ISO,
27:09yeah, he can go 40, 50 points in the game, but then you don't get Julius Randle going.
27:15Maybe he can pick his spots here and there, but you don't get DiVincenzo going.
27:18You don't get McDaniels going.
27:19And they don't win as many games that way.
27:21So, when he's in kind of facilitation mode at times, and then he picks his spots to go
27:26and, you know, takes over the game at times, much better.
27:30Michael Jordan had to figure out that balance, too, right?
27:32I mean, he was always a scoring champ.
27:34He's like, okay, let me bring my teammates along for the ride.
27:36Where do you go facilitate versus ferocious when you decide?
27:39It's field.
27:40Yeah, it is.
27:40It's field.
27:41But you hit on it.
27:42If you don't get Randle going early, then maybe he doesn't get going at all.
27:46Exactly.
27:47LJ Cryer checking in.
27:49LJ 48% on threes.
27:51Since he's come back from the hamstring.
27:55Ball cycling around.
27:56Pajewski had a good look there.
27:57He'd want that one to go down because GP2, that was a nice shovel pass.
28:01Warriors are moving the ball very well.
28:05Minnesota on the cusp of top ten offensive and defensive rating right at 11.
28:10Oh, Quinton Post is going to be called for a foul.
28:13And the crowd didn't agree with it, and neither did Quinton Post.
28:16Well, Anthony Edwards is going to make Quinton Post defend.
28:19He's going to get by Pajewski, and it's going to be up to Quinton Post to stop him from scoring.
28:25But you got the swipe down from Pat Spencer.
28:28Yeah, well, that's where they're going to give the foul.
28:30You know, if they put it on Pat, you kind of say, okay, fine.
28:34Yeah, you can see why Quinton was a little frazzled there.
28:37But you mentioned him dropping out of the top ten.
28:39These last three games, they dropped out of top ten.
28:41Before the three games, they were like ninth defensively, trending in the right direction.
28:45But Anthony Edwards, he said it was like, it's my fault.
28:48Blame me.
28:48The last three games, I'll take responsibility for it.
28:51His teammates will say, no, it's not his fault.
28:53Not even close.
28:54That's what you like a leader.
28:55Yeah, that's what you like a leader to take responsibility.
28:57And he's like, you know what, I'm going to figure this thing out.
29:01And Coach Finch, I'm sure he appreciates that, and his teammates appreciate it.
29:04Can you remember a game where both teams shot 60% from the field, though?
29:09Nah.
29:09Because I'm watching that Clipper-Minnesota game, and they're both not missing,
29:13but then seven more made threes, and then the 21 turnovers.
29:17That was the key.
29:17Right.
29:17Minnesota didn't get enough shots up.
29:19Clippers make a 19 threes, and Kawhi Leonard going Terminator mode.
29:23GP2 right down the lane, and he will be fouled.
29:27Anytime you can get a team to keep two with one player, you're creating advantages.
29:33And Pujemski was handling the ball up top, and two defenders stayed up with him.
29:37You get GP2 rolling to the basket, make Kyle Anderson come over and help.
29:41He did hit GP2 in the face.
29:44That's why the crowd just reacted that way.
29:46Got a close line.
29:48So, Gary, a couple free throws, courtesy of Jack in the Box.
29:50Aknes is back with spicy jalapenos, onion rings, and gooey pepper Jack-Geeves.
29:55Welcome to Jack in the Box.
29:57Last six games for GP2, 24 of 31 from the field inside the arc, 77%.
30:05I mean, for a guy who's 6'2", the little big man is just getting it done.
30:09It's unorthodox.
30:09You've got to think outside the box with GP2.
30:12Outside the Jack in the Box.
30:14Nice.
30:14Way to get this box ready.
30:16With the free throws down, Gary going to take a turn on Edwards, and that's three.
30:22Those are the rebounds you want to get.
30:24Nas Reed, quickest man to the ball, gives Edwards another opportunity in the lane to lay it up and out.
30:30Edwards, that time, is going to draw another foul.
30:33This one on Peyton.
30:34And Anthony Edwards is talking crazy to people, too.
30:37He's got that D-cell.
30:39Ugh, tough to cover.
30:42Mandatory timeout.
30:43T-Sports Bay Area is brought to you by your Bay Area GMC dealers.
30:49Get ready for the 80-degree weather next week.
30:52We will be gone, but the Bay is going to be loving it in March with Minnesota leading by two
30:58here with 2.43.
30:59Remaining in the first.
31:00Our Kia player profile.
31:02Good things happen to good people.
31:04Mike Conley's traded, right?
31:06Like, ah, he's going to not be in Minnesota.
31:08But then Chicago trades him to Charlotte.
31:10Charlotte waves him.
31:11Hey, I'm re-signed by Minnesota.
31:13I said, never had to leave.
31:14This guy is everybody's favorite teammate.
31:18Mr. Sportsmanship Award.
31:19He's won it, like, four times.
31:21I mean, yeah, you said it.
31:23Like, when you're a good person, people want you around.
31:27They want you in the locker room.
31:28They want you teaching the young guys.
31:29And he's got plenty of knowledge to kick.
31:31And Anthony Edwards loves him.
31:33Well, Mike Conley, fourth pick in 2007.
31:36The third pick in 2007.
31:38Al Horford, both in their 19th season.
31:41Both won NBA basketball.
31:43And both wonderful people.
31:44Incredible dudes.
31:45And, oh, by the way, can still play at a high level.
31:48He's still got more to give.
31:49So, Anthony Edwards is coming alive here.
31:52He's got nine, but six of six free-throwing.
31:56And we're told Al Horford has right calf tightness now
32:00and is out for the game.
32:01And you're already down Raymond.
32:02Mr. Jamsky hits from deep.
32:05Well, that's the last thing you need Al Horford
32:08to be out.
32:09But you've got to keep competing here.
32:11You love to see the start.
32:12Coach Jamsky's had.
32:14The student who's in the game.
32:15He's a 43-percent three-point shooter.
32:17Really solid defender for them.
32:18We know this.
32:19He came over from Chicago.
32:22Kyle Anderson was waived by Memphis.
32:24He came back to rejoin Minnesota.
32:26Then Guy Santos called for holding on to Gobert on the roll.
32:30They're going to have to discuss this again.
32:31We talked about all the pick-and-roll defense in the last game
32:34against the Bulls.
32:35They're just exploiting the switch here.
32:37And Guy Santos goes over the screen
32:40and tries to switch on to the screen
32:41and roll to the basket.
32:42And you're behind.
32:43And you're smaller.
32:44So they're going to throw it out to Gobert
32:46and misses the first free throw.
32:47Finally, he made four in a row.
32:49You said it was going to happen.
32:50Gobert said, come on.
32:51Play before play.
32:52The Warriors shop item of the game.
32:54The new throwback hat by Mitchell and Ness.
32:56Save.
32:57Wait for it.
32:5830% off.
32:59Use the code IoTG30 at shop.warriors.com.
33:03That's the logo there.
33:04That's the we believe.
33:05It takes that kid a long time to get dressed.
33:08I got my hat.
33:09I got my chain.
33:10I got my jersey.
33:11Well, that chain is so heavy.
33:12That's why it took so long.
33:13Butjemski off back iron.
33:15And Kyle Anderson inhaling that rebound.
33:18You've got to be careful.
33:19The Timberwolves are in the bonus.
33:20You don't want to give him anything cheap here.
33:23Nas Reid is working on LJ Kriar.
33:26And Kriar wins the battle.
33:28He's giving away a foot.
33:30Had to handle that tornado move.
33:32Bones Highland checking in for Minnesota.
33:34Really compact move.
33:36No Draymond and no Al Horford now
33:38against one of the biggest teams in the NBA.
33:41This is going to be a challenge.
33:43It wasn't already.
33:46GP2, baby hook.
33:48And you see Nas Reid.
33:49I mean, Nas Reid's seven feet tall.
33:51Kyle Anderson's a very long 6'9".
33:53And Gobert.
33:55Right up the middle to lay it up and out.
33:57The sumo couldn't finish.
33:58And the Warriors somehow turn him away
34:00without fouling there.
34:05And post on Gobert.
34:07Flipping it over the stifled towel.
34:09Just wouldn't stay down.
34:11I like his boldness there.
34:12They go fake handoff.
34:14Trying to get the step on Gobert.
34:15Use the quickness off his foot.
34:17Kyle Anderson slow-mo.
34:18Quickly kicked it out of bounds.
34:20But you mentioned not having...
34:22Go ahead.
34:22This is like the Houston game.
34:24Hang in the game.
34:26Some way, somehow.
34:27Just hang in the game.
34:29And then they snatched it at the end.
34:30That's what I was about to say.
34:31And you mentioned not having two of your best defenders now in this game.
34:35This is against a team that's been one of the best teams overall offensively on the road.
34:40And so, you know, they're coming off a rough stretch.
34:43They're trying to have their come-to-Jesus game.
34:45You're trying to keep them from having it.
34:47Everybody else has to do more.
34:48You've got to communicate.
34:49Remember, Draymond is the talker on defense.
34:51He's going to be communicating.
34:52Everybody has to talk more.
34:54For Zengas, Brad Spencer, in.
34:57LJ Cryer.
34:58They know to close out on him already.
35:02Shot clock at three.
35:04Ball moving around.
35:04Tough shot for Guy Santos.
35:06That was a good contest.
35:07That was good Minnesota defense.
35:09Multiple efforts they've made there.
35:12T-Wolves could go two for one here.
35:14Slow-mo in the lane.
35:16Guy has seen that.
35:17He was a teammate.
35:19Bones Highland creates a little space and lasers at home.
35:23Bones Highland had a big game in the Minnesota win over the Warriors.
35:27Well, he's the one that came in.
35:28Timberwolves weren't playing well at all.
35:30He came in and changed everything in that last game.
35:33Team Wolves have a foul to give here.
35:34Shot clock off.
35:35Final ten seconds of the first quarter.
35:39High screen roll with Porzingis.
35:43Wojemski.
35:44Nice change of direction and finish.
35:47Loats at home.
35:48Two seconds from three-quarter court.
35:52And that will do it to Sumo unable to hit the heave.
35:55But if you're the Warriors, 48 minutes seems daunting.
35:59But through 12 minutes, you're within three.
36:01You don't have Moody.
36:03You don't have Tremont.
36:04You don't have Horford.
36:06But you're not going away.
36:07Big challenge against an elite team.
36:10Minnesota up three after the first 12 minutes.
36:15Minnesota up three at the end of one.
36:18Getting ready to start the second quarter.
36:19Bob and Kalena with you at Chase Center.
36:22Kristaps Porzingis, his first Warriors start.
36:25And seven points in six minutes on three of five shooting.
36:29And I would say that's kind of Steph Curry range when he steps out to 28 feet.
36:34He's got that range.
36:35I remember going to Spain and watching him shoot from the logo from half court at times with ease.
36:42He's doing it in the NBA.
36:43He's doing it with the Warriors.
36:43I'm just glad number seven finally has talent.
36:46Sitting next to a guy who wore seven in a Warrior uniform.
36:50Shots fired.
36:51It's messed up.
36:52I mean, why would you say that about Buddy Heald?
36:55It's messed up.
36:56We love Buddy Heald.
36:56We do love Buddy Heald.
36:58No, but I like the Warriors shot selection overall.
37:01You got ten points in the paint.
37:03You're beating Timberwolves in that category.
37:06When on the season, they bid much better.
37:07There's Moses Moody.
37:08You like that quarter zip.
37:10Moses is coming on the road trip.
37:12Steph's coming on the road trip.
37:13Maybe it's a full zip.
37:14I don't know if it's a quarter zip.
37:16You got to play without fouling.
37:18That's been the biggest deficit.
37:1911 of 12 free throws.
37:20You are real small right now.
37:23Nasrid knows that.
37:2624 second violation.
37:28Because slow-mo could not get it off.
37:31That's the only reason.
37:32If he had, like, just on average,
37:36the release that most players have in the NBA,
37:39he would have gotten that off.
37:40He got it off so slow.
37:41Think of the range.
37:42The Del Curry to Kyle Anderson.
37:44Bro, in terms of release time.
37:45Lightning quick to sloth.
37:49Oh, Porzingis.
37:50He's like, that little Peyton guy finishes all the time.
37:53Let me find him.
37:54Well, he had two defenders commit to it right
37:55at the free throw line right there.
37:57And he can just see over the defense.
37:59He's much taller than both defenders
38:00that committed to him.
38:01The sumo from deep.
38:03Yeah, 43% on threes there.
38:06Yeah, Kalena mentioned it.
38:07Minnesota fifth on threes
38:08and third overall field goal percentage.
38:11They've gotten really great the Warriors have
38:12with their offense and their screening
38:14and their movement.
38:15I tell you, two guys jumping to Porzingis every time.
38:17Will Richard with Porzingis trying to guide that home.
38:21Couldn't quite hammer it.
38:23Melton will step into a three.
38:25Drop it down.
38:25You don't want that dunk to go down.
38:27You wanted a three instead.
38:28Trade the three for a two.
38:30Get back.
38:30Randall the early rim run.
38:32Seth Curry.
38:33What a great play.
38:35And then it gets the Warriors of possession.
38:37Seth saved the layup
38:38and got the Warriors the ball.
38:39That's why you sprint back.
38:41You need that effort.
38:43You're going Melton and Seth Curry
38:44with Will Richard,
38:45Keaton and Porzingis.
38:47You do not have a lot of size.
38:49Melton missing inside.
38:50You love Melton driving there.
38:52Once that next defender comes over,
38:54just be ready to dish it
38:55and someone else make themselves available
38:57as Desumdu knocks down a three there.
38:59No, that's not Desumdu.
39:00That ball's high.
39:01Oh, it's high.
39:03That warm-up rhythm dribble three.
39:05NBA guys don't miss that,
39:06but they're uncovered.
39:09Yeah, I mean,
39:11Randall's guarding Melton right now.
39:13There are some cross matches here.
39:15Porzingis on Nasrid.
39:17No problem.
39:18Kristaps has nine.
39:20That pump fake was nice.
39:22Nasrid bought that.
39:23Here's to Sumo.
39:24Shoveling it to Nasrid.
39:26You got to get back.
39:28This team,
39:28they are opportunists
39:29when it comes to transition.
39:31They're ninth in pace.
39:33They look to get up and down
39:34as much as possible
39:35without anything I was in the game.
39:36This is an important stretch.
39:38Can you win these minutes?
39:39You should win the bench battle.
39:41They're 23rd when it comes to bench points.
39:42You've been third a lot of the season
39:43as Seth Curry misses.
39:45Yeah, I mean,
39:46you're shooting 40%,
39:47Minnesota 42%.
39:49You see all these drives.
39:50When the Highland gets going,
39:52Steve Kerr gonna take a timeout.
39:54Minnesota has an embarrassment of riches
39:56in terms of offensive firepower.
39:59And the T-Bowls move the lead
40:04to six
40:05to you by the Bay Area BMW Centers
40:08and by the little big man, GP2.
40:11Nice feed from Porzingis there.
40:13Minnesota up six
40:15with 924 remaining in the half.
40:17Our Kaiser Permanente
40:18teamwork in action.
40:20This is how you build a team.
40:22You get Anthony Edwards
40:24in the lottery.
40:24Chris Finch,
40:25good solid coaching hire.
40:27You lose early,
40:28but then you've been to the Western Finals
40:30the last two years.
40:31And I think if you talk to the Minnesota people,
40:34they kind of feel like,
40:35oh, the regular season,
40:36we just got to get to the playoffs
40:38when we're at our best.
40:39And that's why they play
40:40elite, elite, elite,
40:41win eight out of nine
40:42and then they drop three in a row.
40:44They can get bored defensively,
40:45they said.
40:47And when you've seen success
40:48in the postseason,
40:49you know what that intensity feels like.
40:51You just want to get back there,
40:53turn it on,
40:54but you don't want to skip steps.
40:55You want to continue to build good habits
40:57throughout the season.
40:59It's not easy to do.
41:00Seth Curry,
41:01tough shot for the baseline,
41:03well defended by Highland.
41:04And here's DeSumo running
41:06with DiVincenzo
41:07on the kick out.
41:09And finally,
41:10Bones Highland misses a shot,
41:12but Dante with the offensive rebound,
41:14Highland again.
41:15The Warriors saw him make his first three,
41:18but now this is third opportunity.
41:20Another warm-up rhythm three,
41:21he's not going to miss that.
41:23And you already talked about
41:24the taps that keeps happening here
41:26where you're just trying to corral the ball
41:27and one of the Timberwolves
41:29gets their hands on it.
41:30That is the easiest bucket
41:32that Anthony Melton will have all night.
41:33Yeah, they get bored defensively.
41:35They just struggled there
41:37to just stay with them.
41:38You don't fight over a screen
41:40and no one else helps you.
41:42Yeah, without Horford,
41:44without Draymond,
41:45Guy Santos is the third tallest warrior
41:47as Nas Reid floats that home.
41:50And two defenders stay up
41:50with Bones Highland
41:51and made the right decision
41:53to get to Nas Reid.
41:54A little short roll there.
41:55I don't know how many minutes
41:57Porzingis can play.
41:58He's already played 10
41:59as DiVincenzo fouls him.
42:01And he's got the small defender
42:04on Porzingis.
42:05This is Seth Curry.
42:06This is...
42:07I keep saying this,
42:08the last thing the Warriors need.
42:10What's happening again?
42:11I think he ran into his own teammate.
42:13Watch Seth Curry here.
42:15No, it was DiVincenzo
42:16that just ran into him.
42:18He's grabbing the groin.
42:20Yeah, that's not good.
42:21Oh, he's coming off the sciatic nerve injury
42:25and now he's got this to deal with.
42:28The Warriors cannot afford
42:30to lose any more bodies,
42:31particularly ones that can shoot.
42:34Quinton calls, finding GP2.
42:36Does Gary just jump out of the crowd
42:38and he's wide open under the rim
42:39all the time?
42:40He knows how to react to drives and rolls.
42:42And the Warriors took advantage
42:43of the switch there.
42:44Again, you got DiVincenzo behind the roller.
42:47Nas Reid had to step up.
42:48He was guarding GP2.
42:50That's actually a win for Quinton Post.
42:52Yes, Randle made the bank shot,
42:54but he didn't take him to the rim.
42:56But right now,
42:57you've got to stay in contact with Minnesota.
43:00The T-Wolves are executing
43:01as the elite offensive team.
43:03They are sixth in the league in scoring.
43:07Skip pass to Payton.
43:09Very tough three.
43:11Randle inhales that rebound.
43:15They're running every time.
43:16Melton, he saved that
43:18by just knocking it out of bounds
43:20to stop the break.
43:21And the big batters were
43:22that Anthony Edwards is going to come back in.
43:24They've done such a great job
43:25without him in the game.
43:26You're talking about
43:28what the Timberwolves have done
43:29since drafting Anthony Edwards.
43:31I remember playing them
43:32and I had one of my best games against them,
43:34but it was like,
43:35man, they're just not relevant right now
43:37when it comes to the league.
43:38They're not competitive.
43:39And it just shows you
43:40how much change can come about
43:42just from drafting one player.
43:44The culture change, the winning.
43:46Obviously, the Warriors experienced that
43:47with Steph Curry.
43:48Well, the Gobert trade,
43:50there were a lot of number ones
43:50involved with that with Utah.
43:53But the Randle trade
43:54and the Gobert trade
43:56will be a Warrior foul on the rebound.
43:59All of a sudden,
44:00the Timberwolves are regular
44:01in the playoffs
44:02and conference finals
44:04two years in a row.
44:05They're just trying to
44:06take the next step as a franchise.
44:09Pat Spencer fouling Gobert
44:10on the arm there.
44:12It is Quentin Post
44:13and a bunch of small guys right now.
44:15He is your power forward.
44:18This sort of knows that.
44:20They're going to Edwards
44:21in the post.
44:22Randle and Gobert.
44:24And there's Guy Santos.
44:26I mean,
44:26Guy falling on his back.
44:28That had to hurt.
44:29He also was called for the foul,
44:30which makes it worse.
44:31He's going to need a minute.
44:33Just give him some space.
44:34That's the kind of fall
44:35that just takes your breath away.
44:38Knocks the wind out of you.
44:40Look at that contest there.
44:42Oh, man.
44:43Right on his back.
44:44Couldn't brace his fall.
44:46But Rudy Gobert is really good
44:48at reacting to his teammates' drives, too.
44:50And they drop it off to him.
44:51They just want to make it
44:52as easy as possible.
44:53But they don't want Gobert
44:54to have to make moves at all.
44:55Well, Gobert has no field goals,
44:57but he has eight free throws.
44:59He's been getting to the free throw line.
45:00And he's been making them.
45:01Well, you talked about his percentage.
45:03As a team, they're like 28
45:05when it comes to the free throw line.
45:08You'll take the Warriors
45:09on the go this season,
45:10screen the games
45:11on the NBC Sports app
45:12brought to you by Toyota.
45:13The free throw percentage.
45:15Okay.
45:16A 51% free thrower is 7 of 8.
45:19That does not compute.
45:21That's why they're 13 of 14
45:23as a team for the free throw line.
45:25Now, Spencer thought about that three
45:27and the double-digit advantage.
45:32Better have a three-point shooting night
45:34because it's going to be hard
45:35to get inside against Minnesota.
45:37Pat losing the handle.
45:40Randall kick it back out
45:42to DiVincenzo.
45:42Corner three.
45:43That's a win for the Warriors.
45:44I don't know why
45:45he didn't try to go to the rim.
45:48Andy Hewers looked like
45:49he could have shot that one
45:50and just maybe go floater.
45:51But he chose to pass it out.
45:53He's Santos over.
45:54Gobert, I'll take Criar
45:56stick it in for the rebound.
45:58So small, quick guys
45:59better get to these long rebounds.
46:01The Warriors are just trying
46:02to bomb away from threes.
46:04They're only shooting 38% in the game.
46:08I don't know where all the points come from.
46:10Borzingis leads the way with nine,
46:12but he's already played
46:1310 minutes in the game.
46:18Chamsky's trying to deal with Gobert
46:19and then Randall right down the lane.
46:21This is just a structural problem.
46:23You have big, large men
46:25and you're small.
46:26Well, Gi-Santos' side,
46:28it's about rotating too.
46:29If Gi-Santos gets over,
46:30that gets his body
46:31in between the cutter
46:32and the basket,
46:33you may be able to stop it.
46:34But that's more of a mistake
46:35than his size.
46:36So Gi denied there.
46:39Minnesota has the power advantage
46:41and the size
46:42and all the momentum right now.
46:44And that lob goes there.
46:46And there's his first field goal
46:47of the night.
46:48So it starts with a 17-4 run
46:50and Steve's going to take a timeout.
46:52And it starts with just trying
46:53to stop him on the ball.
46:54Anthony Edwards got inside,
46:56made the pass.
46:57They're kind of up big now
46:57with momentum.
47:02Xfinity with the most intelligent Wi-Fi.
47:04One consistent price.
47:05Yeah, the same price
47:07for the next five years.
47:08The greatest thing ever
47:09in the history of mankind.
47:12Xfinity's five-year price guarantee
47:14for the most intelligent Wi-Fi.
47:15I could look at the Warriors' shop
47:17right there.
47:17I'm looking for the seven.
47:19No, no, no.
47:19The Porzingis seven
47:20and the Azubuki seven there.
47:21This is a Steph Curry
47:22appreciation post there.
47:24Our four plays of the day.
47:26Dante DiVincenzo.
47:28First four years,
47:29a little under 35%.
47:30Then he went to Steph Curry
47:32three-point shooting school
47:33and he was with the Warriors.
47:34And then now nearly 40% on threes.
47:37And Dante's been open, hey,
47:39talking to Steph,
47:40talking about shooting,
47:41talking about when and where
47:42and shooting form.
47:44And granted Dante just
47:45you pump up your three-point percentage
47:48by five percent
47:49and start to do it consistently.
47:51Well, Steph Curry rubs off
47:52on his work ethic,
47:54the way he moves,
47:55the balance,
47:56the glitchy shoots.
47:58And he learned from the best.
48:00Makes a lot of sense.
48:01Porzingis has to beat the shot back
48:03and does nicely.
48:05First Warrior double figures.
48:06Chris stops his five of eight.
48:08He's been super efficient too.
48:10He can handle grenades,
48:11but again,
48:11against a smaller defender
48:12and then Gobert came over there.
48:14He's like,
48:15I could drop you off too.
48:18Daniels denied by Porzingis
48:19and he got it in anyway.
48:21Well,
48:23McDaniels has that length,
48:24that intriguing length.
48:26I just said,
48:27you look at the size disparity
48:28right now.
48:29Catches you off guard there.
48:33Porzingis from deep.
48:35Yeah,
48:35that was a good contest.
48:36That ball,
48:37he thought it was hit
48:38by a Minnesota defender,
48:40but not ruled so.
48:43He's been your horse.
48:44You're just trying to find a way
48:46to have a good last four minutes here
48:49that you need to have.
48:50You need a couple LJ Cryer threes
48:52or something like that
48:53because right now,
48:54I mean,
48:56Gobert at seven feet,
48:57then you got Randall,
48:58you got McDaniels at six nine,
48:59Edwards,
49:00DiVincenzo,
49:00they're bigger at every spot.
49:02And Edwards putting in the jumper.
49:04Warriors might have to find a way
49:06to involve Gobert
49:07in the action a little more,
49:08get him out to the three-point line.
49:10Then maybe you can get by
49:11and get to the rim.
49:12This is what happens
49:14without Curry,
49:15Butler,
49:16Moses,
49:16and Draymond.
49:17You're missing four starters.
49:18Let me take out Horford.
49:20That's one of your top seven players.
49:23You just don't not have the horses.
49:26He's Santos for three.
49:28So right now,
49:29the Warriors are five of 18 from deep.
49:33DiVincenzo missing that three.
49:34Porzingis got the ball
49:36and then was fouled.
49:37You hold your breath now
49:38every time a Warrior hits the ground.
49:40He's wincing too.
49:42Hopefully he didn't turn an ankle
49:44or something.
49:44He's holding on to that shooting wrist.
49:46Yeah.
49:47That's what took out Moses Moody.
49:49He's out with a wrist injury.
49:51Warriors alive.
49:52We got to keep this guy healthy
49:53at all costs.
49:55Collision with DiVincenzo.
49:58Yeah, he almost stepped on the foot there.
50:00That could have been so much worse.
50:05High screen roll.
50:07Now, that Spencer has Gobert on him.
50:10A lot of DiVincenzo,
50:12but McDaniel is such a good defender.
50:13There you go.
50:14Oh, DiVincenzo's one of a pass.
50:16That was perfectly done.
50:17I'm impressed that Lou Richard
50:19didn't try to force it into Porzingis.
50:21Have a bad angle.
50:22Turn it over.
50:23No, let DiVincenzo's kind of flash up there.
50:26He has a better angle to throw it in,
50:27and you can throw it over the top
50:29of Porzingis' smaller defender.
50:30Okay, you can't do anything
50:32with Anthony Edwards there.
50:34That's just Michael Jordan,
50:35Kobe Bryant,
50:37elite, elite off-guard,
50:38fadeaway jumper,
50:39and he gets amazing elevation on that, too.
50:42You're not going to contest that well enough.
50:44He back out to pass Spencer for three.
50:46Warriors are dying from distance right now.
50:49Five of 19.
50:51You knew after giving up 150
50:53that Minnesota would be spicy tonight.
50:55You can tell you,
50:56he smells blood.
50:58This time, he'll pick up a foul.
51:02He's got a much smaller defender on him.
51:04Cryer was just in a bad way,
51:06drew a foul easily,
51:08but get it here first,
51:10and then you can throw it inside,
51:12throw it over the top.
51:13Like, instead of trying to force it in there,
51:14you don't feel great about the pass.
51:16Make the easy pass,
51:17and Guy Santos is privy to it.
51:19He needs an outlet.
51:20I need to cut up here
51:21and get to the free throw line.
51:23I'm going to have a better angle inside.
51:25That was pretty basketball
51:25because Porzingis' shield
51:27with McDaniels nicely.
51:28Everybody was on the same page.
51:30Well, they knew they wanted to get to him.
51:31He has a small defender,
51:32and Edwards makes the first free throw.
51:34He's definitely one of the best personalities
51:36in the league.
51:37He actually,
51:38he was having a debate
51:39with Justin Jefferson.
51:40He's like,
51:40man,
51:41if I win a championship
51:42in the NBA
51:43in the next three or four years,
51:44I'm going to go play football.
51:46They were basically debating,
51:48NBA players would be much better
51:49in the NFL
51:50than vice versa.
51:51More NBA players
51:53could play in the NFL
51:54than the other way around.
51:55I agree with him.
51:55The skill you need to play basketball
51:58is different.
51:59LeBron was a good high school football player.
52:01Draymond tried out for Michigan State.
52:03He was there in their spring game.
52:06GP2 would be an unbelievable
52:08safety or linebacker.
52:09Awesome.
52:10LJ Cryer's foul.
52:13where's,
52:13there was,
52:14when they had success offensively
52:16in this half,
52:17they got super creative.
52:18You saw Porzingis
52:20working on the outside
52:21coming off the screens.
52:22You saw a back screen
52:23to get Porzingis inside.
52:25You need to be able
52:26to throw some unorthodox type action
52:29at the Timberwolves.
52:31Like,
52:31try to go ball screen,
52:33split action,
52:33keep it simple as much as possible.
52:34Then,
52:35look for those opportunities
52:36where you can throw
52:37something different at him.
52:39because that feels good.
52:41He's been struggling from deep,
52:43been doing so many other good things,
52:44but you'd love Quentin
52:46to come alive
52:47from distance.
52:48Like a wide pin down
52:49for you big man.
52:50Pajemski is in the screen for him.
52:51They want to get out there.
52:53Final two minutes of the half.
52:55Minnesota's been
52:55wonderful this quarter.
52:58Daniels with a running start.
53:01Anthony Edwards
53:01out of the corner.
53:03Edwards has 18
53:05and you barely even know it.
53:07That's the thing,
53:07he can start the game
53:08in facilitation mode
53:10and still go for 18 and a half.
53:13Said,
53:13Quentin Post,
53:14he can live out there
53:15with Gobert on the reset.
53:17Will Richard was fouled
53:18on the rebound.
53:19That's the battle
53:20you're trying to figure out now.
53:21How many offensive rebounds
53:23can you get?
53:23You're missing enough threes
53:24or six for 21.
53:26Can you get some
53:27second chance points
53:27at 10 to 11 right now?
53:29You've got to crash
53:29the offensive boards more now.
53:31I'm going to ask you
53:31a tough question here.
53:33When Post gets Gobert
53:34in the air like that,
53:36can you just lean in
53:38and let him land on you
53:38and shoot three free throws?
53:40You could try
53:40if he doesn't close out
53:41under control.
53:43Gobert's actually
53:43pretty good
53:44is when Post gets fouled
53:45there.
53:46The Warriors are in the bonus.
53:47Warriors will take it.
53:48Because I guess
53:49what I'm asking is
53:51not just Quentin there
53:52but guys do the sidestep three
53:54but if someone's out
53:55under control
53:56could you just show them
53:57the ball?
53:57Hey, lean in.
53:58He lands on you
53:59and free free throw.
54:00For sure.
54:00You should look
54:01for those opportunities
54:01especially when you're
54:03not making threes
54:04as a team.
54:05You're kind of struggling there.
54:06You're not really in rhythm.
54:07I've said this before
54:08but the Warriors
54:09without Steph Curry
54:10he's missed 26 games.
54:11They're last in the league
54:12when it comes to
54:13a three-point shooting percentage.
54:15So three free throws
54:16or two here
54:17just the bonus
54:18he was not shooting
54:19so Experian
54:20will bring that
54:21second free throw.
54:27So Quentin
54:28Experian
54:28to three
54:29of saving time
54:29and money.
54:30Get the app
54:31from your BFF
54:31Experian.
54:34Did I want to interrupt
54:35Fred Warner?
54:36No, can't do that.
54:38Anthony Edwards
54:38from deep
54:40Post in there
54:40fighting
54:41but Nas Reid
54:42comes up
54:43with the rebound
54:43and putting
54:44Post on the deck.
54:45He's been fighting
54:46a foot injury
54:46in his own right
54:47and he's limping
54:48coming into the frontcourt.
54:51There's no healthy guys.
54:52Saying the Warriors
54:53are banked up
54:54is the understatement
54:55of the year.
54:56Peace.
54:57You have guys
54:58that are fighting
54:59through injuries
54:59that are coming back tonight.
55:01Jemsky missed that three.
55:04Minnesota
55:04fully healthy.
55:06They have everybody.
55:09Anthony Edwards
55:10is calling for it
55:11on the other side.
55:11GP2 switched on
55:12to him.
55:16Shot clock at eight.
55:18Elite offense
55:19against elite defense.
55:21Edwards wins the battle again.
55:23He was just kind of
55:24inching towards the middle
55:25to get himself
55:25a better angle
55:26to go glass there
55:27and then he talked
55:28crazy to GP2
55:29afterwards.
55:30He's got 11 here
55:31in the quarter.
55:32After words.
55:34He's a stop.
55:35Anthony Edwards
55:36is just getting
55:37better and better
55:38every year.
55:41Richard Cree.
55:42The Warriors
55:43cannot buy a triple
55:44right now.
55:45Six of 23
55:46from deep.
55:49So a three point game
55:51at the end of one
55:51and all Minnesota
55:54here in the second quarter.
55:57They just keep going
55:58back to Anthony Edwards
55:59and it makes sense.
56:01Right into the wheels
56:02fall off.
56:03Small defender.
56:04GP2.
56:05He's got a big heart
56:06but it's tough
56:07for anybody
56:07to deal with that.
56:09He said a little
56:09something to him
56:10after that.
56:11He actually worked
56:11on his mid-range game
56:13this offseason
56:13as they try to get
56:14it to him again.
56:15So Gary, yeah.
56:16Gary's deflected
56:16two of those
56:17and knocked him
56:17out of bounds.
56:18The best defense
56:19is to keep the ball
56:20from him.
56:20See if you can
56:21deny him,
56:21deflect out.
56:22But he's still
56:23finding things
56:24to work on
56:24at this stage
56:25in his career
56:26when he's playing
56:26so well
56:27as Anthony Edwards
56:27misses a three.
56:29So final five seconds
56:30of the half.
56:32Pajemski at three.
56:34Pajemski down the lane
56:35and Edwards
56:36snuffs that one
56:37and fires it back
56:38at the iron.
56:40So Minnesota
56:40owns the second.
56:42They were salty
56:43losing three in a row.
56:45The Warriors
56:46are back.
