00:00Congrats on the phone. Thank you. What was it like to watch it in front of a live movie?
00:04That was the best thing. That was what I was like non-stop waiting for since the first time I've
00:07watched the movie.
00:08And I've been watching it like back to back to back just because I really enjoy it.
00:12I can't say that I'm always watching every movie that I do, because you don't get yourself.
00:17But this movie, the message, the characters, the world, I really love falling into.
00:23So to see everybody else react to it was just like a treat on top of a treat.
00:27Without spoiling it, is there a moment from the film that got a particularly fun reaction?
00:32Honestly, a lot of stuff, which was like, not surprising, but it was just kind of like, it was so
00:37loud to the floor where they weren't even able to hear some of the parts of it.
00:41So I was like, very like, yes, they really were getting into the comedy, which some of it is quite
00:46understated.
00:47They were immediately tuned in. I mean, my favorite reaction is to each scene.
00:51And then again, it's just all the stuff with me and the girls and all the hygiene, the different stuff
00:56that we have going on.
00:57But then people, they were laughing and that's what we had to do.
00:59You were on our cover. Obviously, this is your cover party.
01:02Yeah.
01:03And Boots Riley told us that he wanted to bring out a different side of you that wasn't off the
01:07show.
01:08Can you tell me a little bit about what that side is and how you brought it out?
01:13I think that he really was interested in the very understatus side of me, which I think it exists in
01:20who I am.
01:20But many of the work that I've done over the years, whether it's the work that I did in my
01:24earlier half of my career with my people in the B,
01:27you know, and some more of that dramatic work, or even doing, you know, two jacks and BP, that multi
01:32-camped sitcom stuff.
01:33And then what I've done on social media and influencing and characters like Emerald and Note, where they're a little
01:38bit more out and extroverted.
01:39You know, those are all artistic portrayals, you know, it's a form of performance art.
01:44And I think that when you do stuff like that, sometimes people think that's you or they just keep you
01:50in that one space.
01:51But Boots really used to me. He saw all the different layers to me, especially when we actually had time
01:57to speak and I showed interest in the film.
01:58And he wanted to bring those other sides to me as a person, Lauren Keanu Palmer, not just Keanu Palmer,
02:04the performer,
02:06but, you know, the artist that creates the performance.
02:09So I was really thankful to be able to tap into something new.
02:12Because we always want somebody to, they got to also see it and have the material in order for you
02:17to be able to get into it.
02:18So, you know, of course, it was a good traveling.
02:20Another thing you talked about was that in addition to some of your movies and TV shows that have traveled
02:25far and wide,
02:26that you have these memes that have become like almost just as famous.
02:30Do you have a favorite meme that you are a part of?
02:35You know, it changes like every now and then, like people ask me that question and I'm like,
02:39Oh, you know, I really love, you know, you know, where's your girl?
02:42You know, the whole Matt Gallop moment.
02:44But then sometimes I really love the one with Sean Evans when I'm like,
02:47Mmm, this one has a little sprinkler still.
02:49So it's just like, I just think it's so, the concept of memes, the art form of becoming a meme,
02:55where people take your stuff out of context and make it usable for something else.
02:58I just think it's so cool, you know, and I think it's dope that people mean it.
03:03Yeah. The last thing I want to ask you, the movie is obviously so much about fashion.
03:07Did you boost any of the outfits from the set?
03:11I can act far more than that.
03:15Okay, you heard it here first.
03:17Yes!
