00:53It's a lot to play for and if we lose, I'll be fuming.
00:56Three heats and a grand finale where only the best will rise.

01:06to impress me and various guest judges from Chateau DIY.

02:55Over the weeks, you've shown you have the DIY skills to renovate a period French property.
03:00But as you know from your heats, it takes more than that to run a chateau.
03:04For your final challenge, I want you to prove you have what it takes to host this chateau's first ever
03:12event.

09:11They're going to create like a bit of height that we can hang some LED lighting and some foliage from.
09:16So the eyes feel like they're not just like looking down, they've got a whole thing going on.
09:21So what's the theme for the space?
09:23We're kind of trying to bring in the rooms that we've done so far.
09:27So kind of the studio that we're in now with the bedroom, the colour palette, into this garden party.
09:32So we're kind of bringing the indoors, outdoors.
09:35It's all coherent and it all ties together beautifully.
09:39So what's the menu for the event?
09:40The main focus is going to be a grazing platter.
09:43So we're going to do lots of like charcuterie board, sort of like light nibbly bits.
09:47We're trying to pick a menu that we're like comfortable with.
09:50That's not going to be such a huge challenge and that we can realistically afford and make in the time
09:55limit.

11:00For their last hurrah, each pair must hold a celebratory garden party, complete with refreshments, a speech and a tour
11:07of their renovations.

11:15the grazing table.
11:16So there's different layers to it.
11:19We want to tie it into our murder mystery room, but we also want to tie it into what we've
11:22decided to name the chateau.

12:41There's so much that can go wrong with things like cooking and making drinks and weather and all sorts.

13:49And we're putting out some garlic mushroom toast for vegans.
13:52We've got a caprese salad, some prosciutto-wrapped figs, and we're making two desserts.
13:58So, we've got an apple tart and a chocolate mousse.

14:03But we're here to impress. We have to go all guns blazing.

20:12potato dauphin white potato kind of thing i think tashadzav will be really good hosts yeah i think
20:18you know they're both lovely charismatic people very kind so there will be tough competition
20:22there's nothing awkward about them too no they're very very likable that does all the chat although
20:29we are serving french food french people i think it's very fitting to have some of our favorite
20:34things on the menu because this is slightly about us at this point about us winning that chateau so
20:43i want to make drinks that i like that's why we've got the bees knees on the menu
20:47when we first met i made tash a few too many peas knees cocktails it impresses the ladies let me

21:02so we're going to start by baking the cheesecake josh makes a really good cheesecake he's a really good
21:06baker my cooking skills are fairly average i'm never allowed to cook because josh just always cooks better
21:14than me i'd rather cook so then when he gets he gets home from a long day's work he didn't

21:20do anything he can just chill my job is the bins josh has never touched them bins in his life

22:41it so tash has a great buff are we all cooking something we're familiar with we're making the
22:48bass cheesecake which i've done quite a few times um and then we're doing like a charcuterie board which
22:53we have done but just not on this scale before this is fun isn't it because usually you don't play
22:58it safe it feels like you're raining in a little bit for this challenge i think because it's the final
23:03we wanted to um just manage our time and expectations um not stress out and we wanted to both be

23:09present front of house when the party actually starts we didn't want someone to be kind of like
23:12stuck in the kitchen well i can't wait to taste all of these dishes crack on thank you

23:27squeeze in the last few minutes of prep before the big day i think it'll only dawn on us when

23:34home tonight but that's this is our final sleep before judgment day yeah it's really sad in a way

23:50we're trying to hold our nerve i think is how i'd describe it it's a very very big day coming

24:35whilst keen to impress with their food and drink provisions the pairs will also give a speech in a
24:41guided tour of the property the bowl's cold so it i'm just trying to it's right it's got to warm

31:11flair totally and i'm so impressed that we managed to knock these up so quickly it was just like scrap

34:15it's the final challenge of the competition and with the garden party in full swing
34:19the pairs take to the chateau to show the guests around their renovations so this is our murder mystery

34:42both pairs then show off their bedrooms here we go this is our principal bedroom that we've designed

34:56bedroom that we've renovated in the house my mom has been sending me links to properties
35:15so it's always been a dream to come and live here it's obviously amazing to have you guys here and
35:22thank god because you're lighting in the mood for us but underneath underneath we're like we're shaking
35:27yeah maybe we should go and get another drink to finish the event the pairs have the opportunity
35:38to give a speech explaining to me and their guests why they deserve to win thank you so much everybody

36:07mayor treasured friends old and new we are xavier and tasha and we wanted to explain for those of you
36:14who don't know us a little bit about how we got here today years ago after we first met we
36:20started
36:20dreaming of moving to france owning a chateau and restoring it to its former glory we have two
36:26children together and although it's been incredibly difficult to be away from them we want nothing more
36:31for them than a future in which they can play on this beautiful lawn and become part of the very
36:35fabric
36:36of this amazing town we have been engaged for two years and winning would give us the opportunity to
36:42finally walk down the aisle using this chateau and its grounds as the venue and for incredible memories
36:52to be made sorry ah finally we believe we deserve to win the keys to this stunning property as we
37:03have
37:03poured our heart and soul into learning the perseverance skill and passion it takes to run a
37:07successful chateau and know we would do this building and its town very proud for generations to come

37:40bonjour hello thank you for being here and sharing this moment it means the world to us
37:46this chateau is more than a building more than a prize it's a turning point for us a new beginning
37:54the past few years have been challenging for us we know what it feels like to be lost
37:59to feel like you don't belong or feel like you're losing your purpose
38:09this competition has helped us to find purpose again and with that we found new joy
38:23we've been able to discover more about ourselves and being able to express ourselves in a new way
38:28this time not through dance but through renovation through design building making and we've absolutely
38:34loved it the world can feel scary sometimes so we want this chateau to feel like a safe haven
38:42we want everyone to feel special here to feel seen and to feel heard and this chateau's future will
38:48be built with that in mind so thank you for being a part of this moment this potential beginning of
39:04something special
39:05i think it's clear to everybody here today how much this means to both of these pairs unfortunately
39:15there's only one chateau and there can only be one winner so i've got to go away have a good

39:43even though we've got this far i don't i still don't think we've let ourselves fully believe that
39:48this could happen for us i think we're trying to protect ourselves as much as we can but it's
39:52strange because it feels like i don't know it feels very it feels so incredibly close
39:58i really think we've put our all into this one this is everything we've been building towards we've
40:03put on the line today so i can't do much more yeah
40:11as the heavens open once more all that's left to do is wait
40:17i can't quite believe the competition is coming to an end both pairs have given it everything and in
40:24this final week they delivered a master class in renovation it's incredibly impressive what we've seen
40:30has just uh blown my mind zav and tash have tackled each challenge with boundless creativity
40:38this marks the spot we found an x here seizing opportunities to push their limits and refine
40:44their skill set there's definitely a lot of effort that's gone into that and it does look really good
40:49whilst never playing it safe i honestly don't know how they did that in six days because of the attention
40:55to detail josh and josh leveled up their skill base with fearless flair they demonstrated so
41:01many different skill sets they pushed design boundaries it is a statement piece it's super
41:06elegant it's super suave while staying true to their signature bold aesthetic everywhere you look
41:12there's something else going on and catching the eye taking into account all the judges feedback
41:18i've made my decision time is up so much at stake well done finalists and thank you to our wonderful
41:28guests for attending the first ever event at this chateau i think you'll all agree they've done a
41:33fantastic job over the summer you've shown us exactly what you're capable of but you really didn't need
41:46to bring the british weather with you to the final zav and tash your confidence has grown exponentially
41:54over the weeks and it's really warmed my heart you never shy away from a challenge and you've attacked
42:00every renovation with boundless energy and creative solutions josh and josh your aesthetic taste and
42:10attention to detail has really impressed me as a designer and if you won the chateau he would stamp your
42:16personality all over it how much each of you want to win this dream is clear but i want all
42:23of you to
42:24be incredibly proud regardless of the outcome considering all of your renovation and event
42:34challenges and taking into account the feedback from the guest judges i am pleased to announce that the
42:41pair who have won the first ever series of chateau diy win the dream are
