00:58then I have a very, very beautiful source of material at hand.
01:07Of course, it's intense, it's a creative process,
01:11and sometimes the roof blows off the set and everything,
01:17but for me that's all part of the creation.
01:21Shia plunges very deep.
01:23He was obsessed that his body weight had to be the exact same as John McEnroe's body weight back then,
01:31and he really practiced tennis every day, so did Zweria,
01:35in order to live the life and embody the life of an athlete.
01:38So in the sense that you prepare yourself for a certain role,
01:42going as much into that role as you possibly can, then that's what happened.
01:48The genre sport film is a weird genre.
01:52I mean, we don't call a movie like Flatliners a hospital film.
01:58It's a thriller, you know?
02:01So for me it doesn't make sense to talk about sports movies.
02:05It's a drama that's set in the world of sports,
02:08and obviously tennis is such an embodied and important part of the film
02:16because the tennis becomes a metaphor to some kind of pursuit in life,
02:23a pursuit for perfection or a search of meaning for these players,
02:27and a tennis field is like trying to find order in chaos,
02:31and you have the white lines demarcating inside and outside,
02:35and it's also graceful in sort of this whole tragedy that is the beautiful human experience.
02:46So of course the tennis is important, but I feel that the genre sports movie or tennis movie
02:54is a weird thing to talk about because movies are ultimately about human beings.
03:00Well, Rocky is a great movie.
03:03I think it's really a great character study of this guy.
03:06I mean, now I'm talking about Rocky 1.
03:08I'm not really so into the other Rocky movies.
03:15But no, I think it's a great movie.
03:18I mean, the one boxing movie, however, that is close to my heart is Raging Bull more than anything.
03:25And if we are to talk about movies that happen in a sports world as a sort of category,
03:34I loved, you know, Foxcatcher, which is also a great, powerful character study,
03:40and a study of relationship between two brothers and his coach and the coach of his mom.
03:47And a film like Moneyball with Brad Pitt was a beautiful film as well.
03:51Well, I think Rush is an obvious reference because of the rivalry story
03:55and because of the two opposites that are pitted together against each other.
04:00So I think that reference is quite straightforward.
04:10I mean, Rush is a great movie.
04:13I think to me it's a little more of a picture postcard representation of that time.
04:22And I think with Borg McEnroe we try to avoid that and make the scene feel a little more like
04:37a documentary type experience of that age.
04:42Ok, thank you.
04:43Ok.
04:46Bye, bye, bye.
04:50Standoff.
04:50Grazie a tutti.
