00:00You know, I was asking friends of mine that are much more into international baseball than I am,
00:04you know, how good the American team was this year.
00:07And everybody told me we're the best.
00:09This is the best assortment of American baseball players maybe of all time.
00:12Because all the stars said, we want to win this thing this year.
00:16Three years ago, not all of them played.
00:18And we didn't win as a result, right?
00:21So I know we were the odds-on favorites also in Vegas to win as well.
00:25We were like, even money to win.
00:26They were, yes.
00:27Yes. So then we're playing Francisco Cervelli's Italian team yesterday.
00:32And like the Americans do, sadly, on many international stages, we embarrassed ourselves.
00:39We did. I hate to say it.
00:41I'm Mr. America, as you know.
00:43I wear the flag on my hat every day of the week.
00:45I got red, white, and blue underwear on because I'm a patriot.
00:48We embarrassed ourselves.
00:49And not just that, Mark DeRosa, who's the manager of Team USA,
00:54also embarrassed himself and the flag yesterday when he gave a press conference
01:00about what he was going to do in preparation for last night's game against Team Italy.
01:05I'll play it for you.
01:07And then we will discuss.
01:08Here's the embattled manager of Team USA, Mark DeRosa.
01:12Go.
01:12A ton of respect for Italy.
01:14It's weird.
01:15We want to win this game, even though our ticket's punched to the quarterfinals,
01:19because Mexico plays Italy actually tomorrow.
01:23So the way the schedule lines up, this is an important game for us.
01:27Nolan McClain will start.
01:28He's on the bump, and he's good to go.
01:31He's an absolute beast.
01:32And I expect him to throw the heck out.
01:34Yeah, well, we all expect that, too.
01:37Matter of fact, Nolan McClain got off to a great start on that first inning.
01:40I think he struck out the side with 11 pitches.
01:43Yes, he did.
01:43And then Tyrone and I got a text message from our producer, Ethan,
01:47who's also a diehard Mets fan.
01:49What does that say, Tyrone?
01:51Can you read that?
01:52Yeah.
01:53I have to look over the phone.
01:54I can't see it.
01:56Nolan effing McClain, bitches.
01:59Bitches.
01:59That's what he wrote.
02:01Literally 22 minutes later, the Team USA was losing,
02:05and losing by a lot.
02:06Yeah.
02:06Yeah, because Nolan McClain, bitches, was not that effing amazing.
02:10No, he wasn't.
02:11He goes three innings, gives up three runs.
02:14Yeah.
02:15So we were down 8-0 in this game.
02:178-0 now.
02:18Made a value, come back, got to 8-6.
02:20But let me go back to Mark DeRosa, okay?
02:21Yeah, because Mark DeRosa said right there,
02:24we've already advanced to the quarterfinal round.
02:27Yep.
02:27But Tyrone, had they already advanced to the quarterfinal round?
02:32Hell no.
02:32No, hell no.
02:33Oh, they didn't.
02:33And he did his lineup as if it was already advanced.
02:36Bryce Harper gets the day off.
02:39Who else?
02:39A couple other pieces.
02:41A couple guys get a day off.
02:43Yes, that's correct.
02:43So all the stars are not in the lineup last night.
02:45He was playing some of our backup players.
02:47Yes.
02:47And his words, not mine, I want to get some of these guys off their feet
02:52because we've already advanced.
02:53Right.
02:53So let me give some other guys like Goldschmidt a chance to play
02:57some international baseball.
02:58Mm-hmm.
02:58The problem, of course, with that is we have not clinched a berth.
03:02No.
03:03And now it's out of our control.
03:04Completely.
03:04If Mexico beats Italy tonight and they score five or fewer runs
03:10in tonight's game, Team USA, the favorites, to win the whole thing
03:16will have been eliminated from the competition.
03:20Everybody gets to go home, including Scooble, who wants to go home anyway.
