00:00All shot takes the win.
00:01So a start here in race two, very important for Hamaker.
00:04Well, it's not going to get a lot easier because Seth, or excuse me, Cole Davies,
00:08even though he's not on his motorcycle at the moment, is lined up to Seth Hamaker's inside yet again.
00:13So that battle will continue.
00:15And for Davies, to ask is simple.
00:16Get the start and continue that group proficiency, and you will continue to have the edge here tonight.
00:22And what about the championship leader in 250 East Division, Pierce Brown, on his Monster Energy Star Yamaha?
00:30These numbers don't paint a pretty picture.
00:32His averages are triple crowns.
00:34Race one, 11.
00:35Race two, 12.
00:37Race three, fifth.
00:39Well, he kind of broke the average in race one by finishing one position better.
00:43He finished 10th.
00:43But he's got to break this trend if he wants to keep the championship lead going into the off weekend
00:48next weekend.
00:49I think he breaks the trend.
00:50And he's just that red plate there.
00:52He's got a lot of momentum.
00:53He can feel it in the air.
00:55And I'm hopeful he's going to get it done here in race number two.
01:00Break the cycle.
01:06This is what I love when I hear about the triple crown.
01:09We're already right here.
01:10Race two.
01:11What about Nate Thrasher?
01:13Finished fifth in the first race.
01:16His results are getting better.
01:17Now we're into the third round.
01:19But he can't.
01:20He's got to speed things up a little bit.
01:22It can't be like this.
01:23He's got to grab a win or he's got to get on the podium to get his championship headed in
01:28the direction he wants it to.
01:29If you've never been to a Monster Energy AMA Supercross, this is the best moment here.
01:34When everybody's focused on the one spot and you wait to hear the revs rise and the gates drop.
01:39Here it is.
01:44This explosion of energy is just a beautiful thing.
01:48Jalik Swole.
01:50Swole aboard his triumph.
01:52Gets the whole shot.
01:53Pierce Brown a much better start.
01:55But he does it.
01:56He loses his rhythm and gets overtaken by three riders.
02:00Yeah, that was a costly mistake.
02:02But great heads up riding by the rest of the field.
02:05Realizing that.
02:11Wow.
02:12Look at Davies.
02:13Through the whips, goes around Joe Shimano.
02:15Joe says, no, not so fast.
02:17Oh, look at there.
02:18Joe slowed up a little bit to not let Davies tuck back underneath him.
02:23Great riding by Joe.
02:26Say what?
02:27This is some medicine that Jalik Swole needed.
02:30Oh, yeah.
02:30This is awesome.
02:34Shimano hugs that inside line.
02:42And SMX track crew did a great job in the small amount of time that they had to get this
02:47track
02:48raceable, smooth out some of the ruts on those rhythm lanes.
02:52They are going to be working hard tonight.
02:54But look at the racing that it's created.
02:57Riders able to take alternate lines.
02:59Oh, Seth's down.
03:01Hamaka's down.
03:02The Daytona winner.
03:03Well, you can see right here on the screen, see all those ruts.
03:07He just wasn't lined up perfect enough.
03:09And goes sideways.
03:10And it's game over.
03:12Let's see if Joe goes up the inside.
03:15Oh.
03:16Fight for the lead.
03:17And Jalik Swole is hanging on to it.
03:19Now, Shimano's been going to the inside here.
03:22If he goes there again.
03:24Yeah.
03:25The thing is, if you go to the outside, you're able to triple.
03:27And obviously, you can't triple from the inside.
03:29But the primary line that a lot of these riders have been taking is going to the inside.
03:36Oh, Joe wasn't able to triple.
03:38Here comes Davies.
03:39Cole Davies on the inside.
03:41Second place.
03:43Just like that.
03:44Now, he sets out off to Jalik Swole, who is not going quickly through that section.
03:48And this is going to be game on for the race one winner, Cole Davies.
03:52Well, it is.
03:52And Joe knows what's on the line as well.
03:54Let's see if he can keep the pressure on.
03:56And he felt, he told, he told us after the race, it feels like if he can get through the
04:01whoops decent.
04:02Oh!
04:03I saw that coming from a mile away.
04:05I thought Davies was going to hit the deck.
04:07It's Shimano on the inside.
04:09Look at that.
04:11Joe said he likes this format.
04:14You can capitalize on what you did right.
04:17You can fix what you did wrong.
04:19You get those three chances.
04:20Well, he is doing what he said he was going to do.
04:24Door opened up and he took it.
04:26Wasting no time.
04:27But that's the kind of riding you have to do here in the Triple Crown.
04:30Look at the run that Joe is getting through the whoops.
04:34Jumping through there.
04:35Not losing much time to Cole.
04:37You can see Cole didn't reel him up like he was doing in that first race.
04:41So that's what's going to put the pressure on Cole.
04:43He's going to lose that advantage that he had in the first race.
04:47Now, look, Jalik Swole's been out in front for three minutes now.
04:51Got the whole shot.
04:53He's had challenges like now.
04:54And he changes his life from that outside to the inside.
04:58Joe Shimoda had to shut it down, JT.
05:01He did.
05:02And you saw how aggressive Joe Shimoda there was with Cole Davies as he tries to make a pass for
05:07the lead here, Lee.
05:08And I just wonder, those comments that Cole Davies now going up the inside.
05:13I think Joe Shimoda took those a little personal.
05:15Davies saying that nobody can touch him.
05:17Remember, Joe Shimoda is your reigning SMX world champion.
05:22Davies looked for a line on the inside of the whoops there.
05:25But Jalik Swole is doing a tremendous job out in front.
05:28He was, so right now Cole's making up the time at the beginning of the whoops.
05:31And it kind of levels out if you're jumping.
05:34You can see Joe lost maybe a bike length to Cole.
05:37But then it, you know, he reels that back out or it maintains it.
05:42Man, what a battle this is right now.
05:44Bottom box is Pierce Brown and Daxton Benick.
05:48The star Yamaha, the rock star Husky, top box for the lead.
05:53Swole looks on the inside.
05:54He knew that Cole Davies was coming.
05:56And there's Joe Shimoda blasts his way through to second.
05:59Joe following suit.
06:00Great pass by Jalik right there.
06:06Oh, Joe messed up in the whoops right there.
06:09It's almost like he was indecisive of what he wanted to do.
06:12Whether he wanted to blitz or jump.
06:14And just got caught in between that decision.
06:17Jalik Swole may have company here shortly.
06:19Will, in the form of Pierce Brown.
06:21He will.
06:23May have company, but it's still going to be a really impressive ride for Jalik Swole.
06:27Let's bear in mind, he's coming off a re-tair of an Achilles tendon rupture
06:31that he had back at the beginning of January.
06:34Then he had the re-tair.
06:36And had to have all that surgery and rehab all over again.
06:40Talking to me earlier, he said in the last year,
06:42he's only spent six months of that even being able to walk on his foot.
06:46Nine days on Supercross before we came into the opening round in Arlington just two weeks ago.
06:50Incredibly impressive for Jalik Swole.
06:52Watch the pass here.
06:54Here comes Pierce Brown.
06:56Championship leader.
06:57I spoke too soon.
06:58Great run for Jalik through the whoops, holding his position.
07:07Oh, down goes Jalik Swole.
07:09Yeah.
07:09Front end.
07:10Spike looked like it over-rotated there, coming through the apex of the corner.
07:16Hence how he fell on the bottom side.
07:19What a shame.
07:20But there are so many positives to take from that run.
07:23Oh, yeah.
07:23Really good stuff.
07:25And Pierce Brown is saying, okay, I may not have had great numbers, my averages in Triple Crown races,
07:31but I'm breaking that mold.
07:34Ricky, you said that he would.
07:35100% he is, and having an incredible ride right now.
07:40Back in the money, third place.
07:42And Binnick right there, keeping him honest as well.
07:45Gets a good run.
07:47Wheel tapping through there.
07:49It's the back tire of Pierce Brown.
07:52You saw a sea of yellow flags and a couple of riders down just off to the left of Camera
07:57Shot.
07:57That's Evan Ferry, Gavin Towers.
08:00Yeah, both riders for that Phoenix Honda team.
08:03I hate to see that.
08:05Hopefully they'll be all right.
08:09And just like that, there's only three and a half minutes left in this second 250 East Division race
08:15in this Triple Crown here in Indy.
08:18Absolutely wild how fast it goes.
08:23So, Pierce Brown finished 10th in race one.
08:27Will, he's running third at the moment.
08:29Yeah, and I was just talking to team manager Jensen Hedler at Monster Energy.
08:33Yamaha-style racing just saying he's had a bit of a tough day, some bike changes, which is a real
08:37breakaway for the first two rounds,
08:39where Pierce hasn't really touched a whole lot on the bike.
08:42And asking him why that was, he said, well, I think it's just track conditions.
08:45It's tight.
08:46It's rusty.
08:47And he just needs a little bit more comfort out of the bike, Ricky, that he just didn't have.
08:50And they did say in a positive after that first race he came in and didn't ask for any more
08:55changes.
08:55Oh, that's good.
08:57When you don't have to make changes, you know exactly what the bike is doing, and then you can start
09:02racing it.
09:02You're not testing it at a race.
09:05It's a tough position to be in, but, man.
09:07All right.
09:08Game on here.
09:10Cole Davies set after the win in race one.
09:12Once I got to the front, basically, I just rode my race.
09:15I managed it.
09:16Well, Joe Shimoda looks pretty fired up, pretty motivated here.
09:21He's right there.
09:22I mean, when we talked about the stats before the start, he's never won a race, an individual race, at
09:28that, in a Triple Crown.
09:30So some motivation there.
09:31And listen, he's probably starting to feel a little bit better, getting some fitness underneath him.
09:36As far as riding fitness goes, feeling comfortable after taking off and healing up from that injury.
09:42So really no surprise because of that.
09:45So, unfortunately, he went down early in the race.
09:48The Daytona winner, Seth Hamaker.
09:49Seth's trying to work his way back.
09:51This is what happened earlier with Gavin Towers.
09:53Watch this for a close call.
09:56Whoa.
09:58Oh, man.
09:59Flip Gavin.
10:00It was a close call for Hamaker, but it was ugly for Gavin.
10:04And he is still on the ground.
10:07He's now in the hands of the Alpine Stars medical unit, just looking out of our booth here.
10:12So he's in safe hands now.
10:14But that was nasty.
10:15Oh, it was brutal.
10:16Hopefully he'll be all right.
10:18Joe just keeping the pressure on.
10:21And I like how Davies is responding.
10:23He's not overriding.
10:26And he was very similar to this last year.
10:29You know, when he was in a situation where he was being pressured.
10:32Davies, in my opinion, is really good at running his race.
10:36He doesn't get caught in racing behind him majority of the time.
10:40And that is a huge attribute that he brings to the table.
10:45Points as they run now.
10:47Cole Davies would be the new leader.
10:49Joe Shimoda.
10:53And Pierce Brown would be tied for second.
10:56That's why these Triple Crowns are so awesome.
10:59Just the points fluctuations.
11:01The three-race format.
11:03It's so much fun.
11:04This is going to give us an interesting story heading into the off weekend.
11:07And another thing that's good about the Triple Crown and can work for you.
11:11Imagine Pierce Brown if that was the main event.
11:14Yeah.
11:14See, now he has an opportunity to make up those lost positions.
11:18And, you know, kind of stop the bleeding.
11:23So frustration in the season opener in Arlington after Cole Davies went down.
11:29He had a valiant comeback.
11:31It was an awesome right through the field.
11:33Last weekend in Daytona.
11:35It was a better result with second place on the podium, first of this season.
11:41Now it's looking a lot more like the Cole Davies that we expected in season 2026.
11:48Last lap.
11:49He's on his way home.
11:51Almost.
11:51It's like that first race win that he got in race one here tonight.
11:57Maybe that's just the kickstart that he needed to get back into that mindset of where he was last year
12:03in his rookie season.
12:04And, again, this is the kind of rides that JT and I were talking about to all of you.
12:10And this is what we expect of him.
12:11This is a talented man right here.
12:13Let's give a shout out to some other riders in the order.
12:16Daxton Benick, an awesome four.
12:18Cody Shock.
12:19Jalik Swole is having a good scrap with Devin Simonson at the moment.
12:23Cullen Park is eighth.
12:25And then Kelly Thrasher and Hamaker is in 11th, desperately trying to make his way into the top ten on
12:32this final lap.
12:36There it is.
12:37Two for two for Cole Davies.
12:40Here's that fight that we're talking about with Jalik Swole and Devin Simonson.
12:44And Jalik has a little of down.
12:46Where are you?
12:47Oh, that's where you are.
12:49Oh, Simonson, yeah.
12:50There you go.
12:51Jalik's going to take all the positives as Devin Simonson goes by on this final lap.
13:03There's the fight for sixth.
13:04And it's going to go Simonson's way.
13:09But the man who's dominating this Indianapolis event is that man there, the 18-year-old Kiwi, Cole Davies.
13:17That is two from two.
