00:00I love chatting with you for 49 and I was hoping we were going to be chatting a little bit
00:03closer
00:03to May for 50, but unfortunately I kind of did feel like you were probably going to be in a
00:08rough spot on season 50. How are you just doing overall? Oh my gosh. I'm feeling everything. I'm
00:14feeling a little, you know, obviously sadness that my journey has come to an end, but also a little
00:18bit of relief. Survivor has been such a huge part of my life for, you know, over a year now.
00:23And it's
00:24kind of nice to just be a fan of the show. I love playing the show. I love playing the
00:28game and
00:28everything, but now being able to sit back and root for my favorites and talk a little smack online,
00:34like I'll join the discourse. It feels kind of good too. You know, it's been fun to see you guys
00:39all just as a cast so hyped for this season and doing so much press and stuff, but was it
00:43a little
00:44bit difficult to do that, this experience while also knowing that you were an early boot or are
00:48you still having fun with all of this? Oh my God. I'm still having the best time because here's the
00:52thing. Survivor 50 is just, they've said it before. It is this celebration of all things Survivor. So
00:57yeah, even though I am an early boot for this season, I'm also a winner doing not as well as
01:01I would have liked on this season. Doesn't take that away from me. And the way that I approached
01:06season 50, um, it was almost like I was living the ultimate super fan experience, right? When my
01:13season, um, when season 50 was taping 49 hadn't even aired. And I just, I truly did feel like I
01:20was a
01:20huge fan of, of a lot of these people and being able to be out there on the Island, even
01:24though it was
01:25just for six days, like it has been incredible to, to be able to do it twice.
01:30And you've still got the million dollars. So, I mean, most of the people on this cast can't say
01:33that. So. Exactly. Yeah. I can't complain too much. Seriously. This Survivor 50 for me, it was,
01:38it was really just like the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae. Yeah. When you got to the
01:43Island
01:44and you saw your initial starting tribe, the Selah tribe, what was your reaction to who you ended up
01:49with? Oh, I was so excited because here's the thing before I was a fan later, before I was a
01:54player, I was a fan. Right. And so all of the people, and I'm not just saying this, all the
01:57people on my original tribe, I had rooted for at some point in my life. And so to look around
02:02and
02:02be like, Oh my gosh, I'm with all of these incredible players. And then not only that,
02:05but at first, like I was looking at my tribe, I'm like, damn, like we are stacked. Like we're not
02:09going to lose any challenges. I'm going to be out here for a while. This is amazing. Um, of course
02:14that did
02:15not, um, work out the way that I would have liked it to, but originally I was, I was super
02:20stoked.
02:22Were there dynamics that we didn't see on the TV that you experienced when you were out there,
02:26just in terms of who was close with who, who was aligned with who, like, can you shed some light
02:30on that? Absolutely. So I think the most obvious one, you have the Christian, Devin's and Emily trio,
02:35right? And then you have the Sari and Ozzy duo. And those were like very obvious from a viewer
02:40perspective. Um, but I think along with the Christian, Emily and Devin's trio, Sari was
02:46also looped in with them as well. So you got four right there. Plus Sari's bringing Ozzy along. So
02:50that's five. And those five pretty much ruled. It felt like, um, everything that was happening in
02:55the game. Um, even though there was talk about maybe sending Ozzy home, if Sari didn't want that
03:00Ozzy wasn't going to go home just cause she was in so well with the Christian, Emily and Devin's of
03:06it
03:06all. You know, I talked to Jenna last week and she kind of outright said that these people had
03:11pregame alliances and that it was kind of you, her and Joe were just not in the mix with that
03:15is,
03:15do you echo her statements? What's your take on that? I mean, it did kind of feel like me,
03:20Jenna and Joe were like the little scraps, the little leftovers of it all. Um, as far as
03:26pregaming goes, you know, I wasn't on any calls with these people, so I can't really speak to what
03:30they may or may not have done. But, um, it, I think you also have to consider like survivor
03:36is literally a community, right? The game isn't necessarily over when, you know, the, the cameras
03:44stop on day 26. Like some of these people have had relationships for years or in some cases in
03:50the season decades, right? You have some people who maybe they're not best friends, but they have
03:56mutual friends, a mutual friend who can say, Hey, I know person X, you can trust person Y.
04:02Let me be that bridge between you guys. So I'm not saying everybody here hopped on a zoom call
04:06and formulated a plan, but you do have preexisting relationships and it can make it really hard as
04:13someone who comes into the game without any of that. Um, you know, during my week, my, my one and
04:18a half week break in between seasons, I took a lot of time to spend time with my loved ones
04:22and
04:22everything. And I really wish I would have DM to every single survivor player to ever exist
04:28and hook me up with some of those pregame alliances that may or may not have taken place on the
04:32island. It might not have hurt if you'd done that. It might've helped. I would have gone all the way
04:37to the end. For sure. Um, you know, it was pretty, it seemed like Sari and Ozzy were on the
04:42outs,
04:43but then we see, like you just mentioned Sari just in the fold again. What was it like watching
04:47her gameplay just with your own eyes out there? Well, you know, I think the best part about Sari's
04:52gameplay is you don't even realize how good it is until you're watching it on TV with the world.
04:57Right. Um, I actually didn't know that Sari had such a heavy hand in me going home until I watched
05:05the episode and you see her strategy, you see her kind of planting some seeds and where I thought,
05:11okay, maybe it's, it's Christian who's leading the charge. You kind of come to realize actually
05:16Christian might look like he has all the power, but it's Sari who is kind of running this game,
05:20even though she's a one person person, like she's kind of like the majority with all of her social
05:26and strategic skills on the Island. So I'll say this, like if I had to go home, like it sucks,
05:32but I'm so like honored. It was at the hands of Sari. You were clocking her. Like they showed that
05:38you
05:39were kind of sussed out about the fact that she was protecting Ozzy. And that was, that was fun to
05:43watch that you really figured that out. Yeah. I wish people would have taken that more seriously. I don't
05:48know why they didn't. But to me, like that was a very obvious duo and you know, is it is
05:53what it
05:54is. Maybe I'll say this, like for me, I'm a very loyal person. If I feel like someone is extending
06:00an olive branch to me, or if someone's doing me a favor, I will be loyal to them until like
06:04the end
06:05of the earth. And maybe Emily Christian and Devin's think that Sari is going to be that loyal person to
06:11them. We'll see what happens, but I just know that I would have been someone who would have been very,
06:16very loyal. Any regret about the whole block of vote and that you ultimately kept the advantage
06:20a secret from anyone, from everyone, any way you could have handled that differently?
06:24You know, here's the thing. I feel like if I would have told everybody, I got a block of vote,
06:27like, I don't think that would have changed anything. I think the right thing to do probably
06:32would have not been to go on the journey. You know what I mean? But even if I would have
06:36sat at
06:36home, I still feel like I would have been a target, you know, like I feel like I had this,
06:41this big target on me, no matter what I did at that point in the game, just because I carried
06:47so much uncertainty with me. And it's unfortunate, but you know, that's the hand I was dealt. And
06:52I'm glad I went on the journey because I got to meet Colby and Mike White and they were just,
06:58they were awesome. And it was cool to beat Colby in the game.
07:01That was a true old school versus new school battle, which is, you know, it was fun. Actually,
07:04we've seen Colby with Rizzo and then we've seen Colby with you. It's so fun to see
07:07it not be an old school versus new school and really see these two worlds meshing,
07:12which as a viewer has been so fun. When you were out there, did you feel that,
07:15that it wasn't the two sides against each other, that everyone was kind of meshing together?
07:19Yeah. And honestly, I was kind of surprised by that because when I looked at my tribe at first,
07:23like we would have been outnumbered, right? You only had three new schoolers on our tribe. You had
07:27me, Joe and Emily, and then the remaining five were all old school, but it was really clear pretty
07:33early on that that wasn't going to be a division, at least on my tribe. And I think a big
07:38part of
07:38Survivor is you have to be a little bit fluid with how the game works. You have to adapt and,
07:43you know, maybe something that seems like it would be making sense on paper. Maybe it doesn't make
07:47sense for you when you're experiencing it in real life. And the fact that other people were open to
07:51not just picking up off us, us new schoolers. I love that. I think it's awesome.
07:56Did you feel any kind of winter backlash after the moment that you told them you won,
08:01or did that not come up as much? Because it didn't seem like there was any kind of issue
08:05with you being a winner. Same with Dee and everyone loved Kyle, it seems. So did you feel
08:10like there wasn't a winter backlash to you? Not necessarily. Again, I think the biggest concern
08:15for me in particular was not seeing my season and seeing how I had played. And so when I told
08:20everybody, yeah, I won my season. Well, actually, no, when I told everybody, how do you think I did?
08:26I had a good feeling that most people on that beach already knew how I did. And so I was
08:30kind of trying to suss out, okay, is anyone going to say anything? Is anyone going to own
08:34up to this? Because I know there had been some chatter. I knew there had been some free gaming
08:38before. And I wanted to see maybe by, you know, opening up the floor, would anyone reveal anything?
08:45Whether it was like, oh, yeah, I heard that you won. Or whether it was maybe two people like
08:49exchanging glances and, you know, looking at each other like, oh, she's going to admit that she won.
08:53You know what I mean? So yeah.
08:55Yeah. You were one episode away from making the swap. I assume you would have loved to reunite
09:00with Rizzo. Anyone else out there in the cast that you were hoping to end up on a tribe with
09:04that you would have loved to mingle with? Oh, my gosh. I mean, coach would have been like a dream
09:08just because he like growing up, I was like a huge coach fan. I think he is such an incredible
09:13like player and a true character. And I was so interested in meeting him out there.
09:17Other than that, I mean, Colby and Mike White, who I had already met on that journey.
09:22You don't really see this in the show, but we had actually talked for it felt like a
09:25long time. And I felt like there may be a way forward with them. I was very interested
09:32in meeting them again and hopefully reuniting there. But yeah, I would say probably that
09:37that that group of people for sure. Savannah, what's next for you? Like you said,
09:41this whole last year of your life has been Survivor. What's the next chapter for you?
09:46Honestly, I don't know, which is a little scary, but also a lot of fun.
09:50Um, I'll probably have a better answer for you in like three months or something like that.
09:54But yeah, you'll have to stay tuned to find out.
09:58Are you going to miss Survivor being so prevalent in your life in the way that it is right now?
10:03Or are you also enjoying the break that's going to come from it?
10:06Yeah, that's such a good question. Um, I have loved this past year. It has been the biggest gift.
10:12It's also been a lot, um, a lot emotionally. And, you know, it's been tough at times. I'm not
10:19going to lie, being, you know, on TV like this and the topic of discussion every week. And, you
10:23know, it's been crazy. And while I've enjoyed this past year so much, I cannot wait to watch
10:30this show as a fan and be able to root for certain people and be able to talk about the
10:37game in such a free way. Like, oh my God, I'm so excited. I'm freaking excited, dude.
10:42And, you know, I think there's so much immediate success with season 50. I mean, the ratings
10:46are huge. There's so much buzz about it that I would suspect we get more returning seasons
10:50in the 50s. And I feel like we got to get Kyle back out there. I feel like you were
10:56just
10:56kind of taken out way too soon. So I feel like there's room for more opportunities for a lot
11:00of you on this cast, even though we're only two episodes in.
11:03Yeah. I mean, honestly, like I love returning player seasons. I love them, like not only as a
11:07player, because obviously, like I got a chance to be one and play this game again.
11:10But like as a fan, like I feel like it's so fun. You really have people who I consider
11:15a lot of the times the best of the best, whether it's because they're the best at the
11:18gameplay, whether they're the best because they have amazing TV moments or what have you.
11:23I am so excited and I'm really hoping that we have more returning seasons, honestly, less
11:28for myself, but more because there are players that I love that I need to see play again that
11:34I'm going to be rooting for. And so I hope that happens sooner rather than later.
