00:00The news that rocked the Metroplex last night, it just didn't get finished.
00:05Trey Wingo, formerly of ESPN, who had a report over Max Crosby Cowboy interest in October that proved to be
00:12true,
00:13came out and said that things are moving fast with Max.
00:16The other night, Wednesday night, Dallas thought they were close to a deal.
00:20But since then, other teams have raised the ante and potentially are offering the Raiders two first-round picks.
00:27Max expect the Cowboys to now shift their focus to Trey Hendrickson.
00:32So that is where we stand as of this morning.
00:34G-Bag went and got the guest of the day on the afternoon show.
00:39And they asked him, is Max still interested in coming back to the Metroplex?
00:44It's funny because money changes everything, right?
00:47In the same offseason, Miles Garrett said, you know, I don't want to go from Cleveland to Canton.
00:52I need to win.
00:53And Max said, I just want to win.
00:55And then they both signed big deals to stay with teams that don't win in Cleveland and the Raiders.
01:02But I think at this point, Max wants to win.
01:04You know, he's a maximum effort guy all the time.
01:07We talked about his – the number of snaps he plays are remarkable.
01:13Dude just wants to win.
01:14And I think that bottom line, he wants to be in a situation that is better than the situation he's
01:20currently in.
01:21And that would be a lot of teams that would put them in a better situation.
01:25The Cowboys make a lot of sense.
01:26I mean, you know, they were in the bottom – what, bottom eight in terms of sacks?
01:31They were in the bottom eight in terms of run defense, even though you guys had three $20 million defensive
01:36tackles this year.
01:37Still couldn't fix the running game.
01:39And that was the whole point of the Micah Parsons deal last time I checked, according to Jerry.
01:43Sure was.
01:44The Cowboys are interesting, but they've got to figure out a way to keep a defense together.
01:50They overpaid a corner for a couple guys.
01:52They've clearly had too much money invested on the defensive tackle position.
01:57They've got to rework that.
01:58But they've got to get someone that can attack the pass rush.
02:02So that's where we stand.
02:04I like that the Cowboys have said, we're not giving you two first-round picks.
02:09We'll just move on to Trey.
02:10I also like, and I hope, that through the end of today and the weekend, we don't have the Philadelphia
02:18Eagles or the Washington Commanders out-splash the Cowboys with an offer to get him in the NFC East.
02:26So I would think that if you turn down – I'm just going to throw out one of the Cowboy
02:31firsts.
02:32Hopefully it's 20 and not 12.
02:34Nah, we can get a better offer.
02:36That that better offer has been made and quickly accepted, you would think, unless, Bobby, you talk about Chicago making
02:44a move to free up some money, other teams making up some moves to free up a draft pick, and
02:48then they execute with the Raiders.
02:52But I would just think common sense would tell me, all right, in the next 24 to 48 hours, that
02:56other team that trumped the Cowboy offer gets the deal done.
03:00If not, maybe they come back to Jerry and Steven and say, all right, your offer is the one.
03:06Yeah, I think that the only reason why they wouldn't have, if they got a better offer, just like, oh,
03:12pulling the trigger, we're doing this now, is if they get the sense a market is heating up.
03:16Like, okay, we're starting to get some momentum.
03:18Other people are going – you know, it's just that little bit of the auction-like effect, where people are,
03:25like, just trying to get their bids in and driving it up higher and higher.
03:27The problem is, the temporary period begins Monday.
03:33Wednesday deals are official.
03:36Pellicero was on with Rich Eisen a couple days ago, and he had talked about this, that you don't want
03:40to play this too long, in all likelihood, because teams are just going to start devoting resources starting Monday.
03:47And so, in general, if you're the Raiders and you're going to make a move, it should probably come today
03:53or over the weekend,
03:55because you don't have a lot of time before teams start going, all right, well, we're having to sink money
03:59into other things and make other plans,
04:00because we don't have time to just sit here and wait for you and play this game with you.
04:05So, I would think whatever the best deal is that they have by today or tomorrow, we'll hear about that's
04:15Max Crosby's new team today or tomorrow, is what I would guess.
04:18Today or tomorrow.
04:18Just because of where we're at in terms of the calendar with free agency.
04:22Trey Wingo, does Max have a say in where he gets dealt?
04:26I would say that you're asking me inside the mind of the Raiders organization now.
04:33The only scarier place to be is inside the mind of the general manager and owner of the Dallas Cowboys,
04:38Jerry Jones.
04:39So, I have no idea, I mean, I guess they should try and do that, but the bottom line is
04:45they've been so tragically bad for so long,
04:48they have to figure out a way to make themselves better.
04:50And if they can use Max to do that, I think that they're going to do whatever they can to
04:55try and put themselves in the best position to be remotely relevant again.
04:59Because the league is better when the Raiders are relevant.
05:01It's a better league.
05:03So, we'll see what type of favor they try to do Max with where he ends up wanting to go.
05:11We know that he's got some Jerry Jones love.
05:15Before we get to the love, why is Max so upset and wants to get out of there?
05:20Was there anything in that athletic profile from Michael Silver that worried you about getting Max Crosby?
05:27Like, the thing about hitting the quarterbacks in practice and not being able to be stopped.
05:32And he's like, I don't care about the red jersey.
05:34I don't care about your practice rules.
05:36I don't care that you're threatening to cut me.
05:37Now, this was a younger Max under John Gruden, but was there anything whatsoever?
05:42What about his build?
05:43You know, let's talk about, again, Max Crosby is an absolute freaking stud.
05:49All right?
05:49This is on another level of excitement than Trey Hendrickson if these deals went down.
05:54But I've always been intrigued and impressed that he's able to get all this done despite, like, a slight, more
06:00slender build.
06:01That's the way he looks to me.
06:03Yeah, he filled out a little more after.
06:05At Eastern Michigan, he was really thin.
06:08But he filled out a little bit more once he got to the NFL.
06:11It's part of what makes him as good of an athlete as he is, though.
06:13And he's such a smooth technician.
06:17None of it bugs me.
06:19I mean, this is a, however long it's been now,
06:23this is an eight-year dream of mine, is to get Max Crosby to Dallas.
06:30Because that's, when I studied him in Eastern Michigan, I loved him.
06:35I wanted Dallas to draft him so bad in 2019.
06:40Didn't happen.
06:41I mean, they were interested.
06:42He wanted to be here.
06:44But, I mean, every time it's come up of a potential trade or could he hit free agency, I've definitely
06:50wanted him to run.
06:50So, no, I love the intensity of an edge rusher.
06:53If it's, depending on what position you play, I like that edge.
06:57I like the demeanor.
06:59And with him, he gets rave reviews across the league for being, like, even if there's a little bit of
07:05that extra juice with him,
07:07he is rave reviews for the presence that he is in a locker room.
07:12That he can be, like, a defensive Dak.
07:16I love the tweet from Gavin Dawson saying,
07:18Those of you who want to give up 12-20 are absolutely insane.
07:21That is absolutely correct.
07:23I would lose my mind and melt down if the Cowboys did that.
07:27Because you're giving up young, cheap talent.
07:30And that's not going to make you a Super Bowl contender.
07:33Would Trey Wingo on the G-Bag Nation give up 12-20?
07:37No, honestly, I wouldn't.
07:39I mean, I love Max, and I think he's a great player.
07:44Two number ones to me is a lot.
07:46It's a lot.
07:48And I would try and avoid that if I could.
07:52Again, going back to the thing with the Chiefs, they're trying to do now what they did in 2022.
07:58When Devontae Adams' deal with the Raiders was announced, it blew away what they were offering Tyreek Hill.
08:04They're like, well, we're not going to do that.
08:05So they traded Tyreek, got a bevy of picks.
08:08And if you go look at that 2022 draft from the Chiefs, they got McDuffie and George Karlaftis in the
08:12first round.
08:14Sky Moore was a disaster.
08:15They got Leo Chennaul in the third round.
08:17They got Isaiah Pacheco in the seventh round.
08:19They got Joshua Williams, Brian Cook, and Jalen Williams, Watson and Williams, whatever.
08:26Once Joshua, once Jalen.
08:27They got all those players in the sixth and seventh round.
08:30And having that amount of talent on cheap first-year rookie contracts enabled them to sign Chris Jones, enabled them
08:37to bring Travis back on that two-year deal, enabled them to pay Mahomes.
08:41That set them up for success.
08:43And I think, to me, I would rather hang on to some of those draft picks and try and build
08:49because when you've got the money that the Cowboys have invested across the board, you're going to have to find
08:55ways to get talent cheaper.
08:56And the best way to do that is the draft.
09:00Real quick on the how quickly this could happen with Crosby.
09:05I was just looking over league history because when we're talking about timelines, I'm going, all right, the tampering window
09:10opens Monday.
09:10And so that's when teams start committing resources.
09:142025, last offseason, DK Metcalf is traded about 24 hours before the tampering window opens.
09:20That was probably biggest trade of the offseason.
09:23Off the top of my head, I think it was the biggest trade of last offseason.
09:282024, we're inside of like 12 hours of the tampering window opening and Brian Burns gets traded.
09:35That was one of the bigger trades we had last offseason.
09:37Again, inside of 12 hours of the tampering window open in 2023, that's when Jalen Ramsey got traded.
09:42And so this is this weekend is usually the time where whatever the biggest trade of the offseason is going
09:49to be,
09:50whatever is the biggest move that has the biggest capital that people are just trying to milk it,
09:54as long as they can, between now and the Monday tampering window opening, that's when these deals pull off.
10:01And so history tells us Max is likely to be traded by Monday at 4 p.m. Eastern or whatever
10:07it is.
10:08Jerry Jones was on this show and kind of surprised you a little bit with how far he swerved to
10:18praise Max.
10:19Yeah.
10:20When was this?
10:21It was November 18th.
10:22This was after the game against the Raiders.
10:25And I believe it came on a question about how well, I think the only question, it was just about
10:29how well the tackles had played in the game.
10:32And we're talking about, hey, how were tackles?
10:34He took a hard diversion to, let's talk about how great Max Crosby is.
10:39That Crosby's a mess now.
10:41He's a mess.
10:43You want to see a defensive end that can flat rush that passer, but at the same time play that
10:49run.
10:50You don't want to go on his side of the field.
10:52So there's an outside guy that makes a difference.
10:56We had a couple of times here early, I just saw the tight end on him and I said, now
11:02good luck with this.
11:02We're not going to be around long if all we're trying to do is get him with a tight end
11:07or stand in his way.
11:09When Jerry Jones has a crush on a player, that's always worth noting.
11:16And he, especially, Max Crosby's never played here.
11:20Don't tell me what I'm saying.
11:22There's an awareness there for Jerry.
11:24Max Crosby is top of mind.
11:25And that's because Max Crosby has come up in personnel meetings routinely.
11:30And so because of that, I think the hyper awareness, knowing that three weeks before that game,
11:35he was probably one of the names they were looking at.
11:37And trying to figure out, do we make a trade?
11:39Do we do something?
11:39Will the Raiders give him up?
11:41And having that awareness and having him be a guy that was mentioned in the draft room years prior
11:47and kind of consistently been on their mind.
11:51And he's right.
11:52That's he is a game wrecker as a pass rusher.
11:54He is one of the better run defending edges in the NFL.
11:57He can drop into coverage.
11:59And he is a menace when it comes to just disrupting what an offense wants to do.
12:05And Max apparently loves Jerry.
12:08After the gambler came out on Netflix.
12:10This was on his podcast in September.
12:13So this was Max saying this even ahead of what Jerry said about him.
12:15This is Max in September last year on his podcast talking about his takeaways from the gambler documentary.
12:21Jerry Jones, somebody I respect a ton.
12:24Especially after I watched his documentary on Netflix.
12:27You know, we all talked about it.
12:29But, you know, people know about him and they talk about him.
12:32But he, you know, really getting to see like all the behind the scenes, like literally from day one to
12:38where they're at now.
12:40That dude is a maverick, bro.
12:41He changed the game in so many ways.
12:45That's a lot of, and look, that's some stronger praise than, hey, Caleb, keep shining, man.
12:52Yeah.
12:52Which everybody thought meant that he was going to get traded there.
12:54But there's a...
12:56After, by the way, saying he does not expect Crosby to Chicago.
13:00And so I think that, yeah, you hear there's clearly a fondness from afar.
13:06Your question just becomes, will this be one of these eternal missed connections a la Sean Payton?
13:13Will this be the Sean Payton one where by the end of his career we're like, man, why, you know,
13:17like it's the movie, the rom-com, where it's like, why didn't we ever happen?
13:20You know, I don't know.
13:21It just never worked out.
13:22Or is this the moment where things turn?
13:25And I think Dallas is trying to assess as they try to open, we've talked about as they try to
13:30open this window, Dallas is trying to assess how much do we want to sink into what his contribution could
13:38potentially be to opening that window?
13:39Do you have a strong opinion or no?
13:43I would hope that hour and a half into the show you would have told us if you knew.
13:47If it was 12 or 20?
13:48I don't know.
13:50It may not have even been, again.
13:52Do you know if they'd be willing to do 12 or if that's a sticking point?
13:55I know they would be willing to trade a first round pick.
13:58I don't know which one.
13:59That could be, we're willing to trade next year's first.
14:01I don't know which one it would be, but no, they are, they would be willing to give up a
14:06first round pick for Max Crosby.
14:07Let's hook you up right now for turning it on, leaving it on, Sean and RJ.
14:16All right, Tolos, that's right, right now.
14:18Call number 10 at 877-881-1053.
14:21Wins a pair of tickets.
14:21See the Eagles on Saturday, May 16th at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
14:25That's call number 10 at 877-881-1053.
14:29We'll have another pair of tickets to give away, our final Eagles tickets in the 9 o'clock hour for
14:35turning it on, leaving it on.
14:36That is what Tolos stands for.
14:38Choppy is out today, but he will make an appearance in about five minutes to critique Peyton Russell's wedding.
14:44Oh, baby.
14:45Already.
14:45Okay, this is maybe, maybe it's my most anticipated off-season article every year, but it's really like two years.
14:58Matt Berry, the fantasy football guy, unleashes and unloads everything that he heard at the Combine with free agency coming
15:07up.
15:07And he has had some past hits, some big hits.
15:11Yes.
15:11He's got some things right.
15:13Yes.
15:13Now, here's the only thing, and we saw him, when did we see him?
15:18The night we were walking to the cigar lounge.
15:19Thursday night, yeah, which makes sense given the timeline that's in this article.
15:23And we saw him and we were like, why does he look so frazzled?
15:26He just looks lost.
15:28Well, I'll be honest, the article's always really good, and there's some good stuff in here.
15:32It's not as strong as it's been in years past.
15:34No, this one is not as strong, but last year he said Shador was going to drop, and people were
15:39like, oh my God, da-da-da-da.
15:41He said Sam Darnold would not be back with the Vikings.
15:44Russell Wilson would move on from the Steelers.
15:47Stephon Diggs would not be back in Houston.
15:49And that New England would get a number one receiver for Drake May.
15:53The Buccaneers would bring back the very injured Chris Godwin.
15:57Debo would go to the Commanders.
15:59Chris predicted Sam Fran was so confident in McCaffrey's health that backup Jordan Mason would be traded.
16:05A.J. Brown would not be traded.
16:07Christian Kirk and Evan Ingram would be moving on.
16:10You get the point.
16:11So he had a lot of hits last year.
16:13People like him around the league.
16:14People like chatting with him.
16:16And because he's not a newsbreaker, he uses, I think, a lot of his connections he uses just for like,
16:21hey, who are you guys excited about?
16:23Who do I need to know in the fantasy realm?
16:25Yeah.
16:26And he's a likable guy.
16:27He's an affable guy.
16:28And so I think people enjoy talking to him.
16:31So he's always a really reliable source when he does speak up on some things.
16:36But he did say, I was supposed to be there Monday night.
16:39He said he did not get there.
16:41It was supposed to be there Tuesday.
16:42Did not happen.
16:43Then he was supposed to land Wednesday.
16:45Wednesday did not happen.
16:47Did not get to the Combine until Thursday because of the East Coast blizzard.
16:51So he lost three days of hobnobbing.
16:54And so that may have may have lessened it a little bit.
16:56But there's still some some good takeaways in here.
16:59First, my favorite thing.
17:01We got to start with this because this is your boy.
17:04Number one thing he heard at the Combine, the return of Derek Carr.
17:10Oh, oh, baby.
17:11Sean's quarterback.
17:12He said, not surprisingly, the majority of conversations revolved around quarterbacks.
17:16And the most interesting one I heard involved Derek Carr.
17:19Yes, the retired Derek Carr.
17:21From what I heard, the Saints expect him to unretire.
17:24This is not just a they think you have.
17:25This is what they expect.
17:26The Saints expect him to unretire and play in 2026.
17:30The Saints are very happy with Tyler Shuck.
17:32So New Orleans expects Carr to unretire.
17:35And then they will trade him to the New York Jets.
17:39The most dramatic look at me crier in the national in sports.
17:47He wants it more.
17:48Good gosh.
17:49This guy.
17:50I know hanging out with him, I probably, you know, like him in person.
17:55Although he may be a little too much straight edge.
17:57A little too N.A.
17:58Gavin Dawson for me.
17:59And no one else probably dislikes Derek Carr for this very same reason as me.
18:04But he's so dramatic.
18:06Go ahead.
18:06Go wherever.
18:08But I have to roll my eyes even more when he goes, oh, this is going to be for a
18:11championship contender.
18:12Oh, because you could never make anyone one of them.
18:14So you have to, like, go to a ready-made team that may be missing a quarterback for you to
18:19go and be average.
18:20Or maybe slightly above average.
18:23Go ahead.
18:23Trade away.
18:24So if Derek Carr does not end up there.
18:26Well, give me a round pick to someone trade for him.
18:30Give me the cost.
18:32Sixth.
18:33Okay.
18:33Something like that.
18:34Maybe a seventh that could become a sixth.
18:36But I would guess a sixth.
18:36A sixth is usually, like, I would think usually for those type of players, when we talk about a Logan
18:41Wilson, right?
18:42He's 34.
18:43I'll say a fifth.
18:46Six feels a little cheap.
18:47I can see six going to a fifth.
18:49I just think, man, a fifth for, like, Carr was not playing, like, super well when he retired.
18:53And there's a little bit of finickiness with that.
18:56But, look, I mean, look, when you talk about an organizational stronghold, somebody who will, like, you know, carry the
19:04flag for you, the Jets could use that.
19:06The Jets could honestly use a just, like, let's get a, just like a, like a Walter Payton man of
19:13the year quarterback here.
19:14They could use that in their organization.
19:16If it's not Derek Carr.
19:18If that, for some reason, falls through, the backup for the Jets, according to Matthew Barry, sounds like Kyler Murray.
19:23All right.
19:24We have been trying to figure out.
19:25This was, I thought, the most valuable thing he had in here in terms of answering a question that we've
19:29asked ourselves on the show.
19:30Jets' starting quarterback in week one, according to Vegas BetOnline, is Mack Jones.
19:36Ew.
19:36Gross.
19:37Yeah.
19:38This has been, this is the biggest thing he addressed that we've discussed on the show or tried to figure
19:41out on the show.
19:42He said, let's talk about the Minnesota Vikings and what's going on with J.J. McCarthy.
19:47Yeah.
19:48So, he said, they are not sold on J.J. McCarthy.
19:51They will keep him on the roster and try and coach him up, but they want a veteran that has
19:55had success in the NFL that will, quote, shock J.J.
19:58So, they're trying to rattle his cages a little bit.
20:00In other words, someone who will be in camp and let J.J. know that the starting job next year
20:04is not guaranteed.
20:06Also, it does make me wonder that if the reason why we hear these leaks is not because they're legitimately,
20:09after five games, wanting to move on from J.J. McCarthy.
20:12But if they're going to acquire a player just to shock him, it makes me wonder if their reports are
20:16partially just like, let's rattle his cages a little bit.
20:17Let's get his attention.
20:19And he says, in fact, if I had to bet on it today, starting quarterback for the Vikings in week
20:23one of 2026, I would take the field over McCarthy, is what Matthew Barry says.
20:27He said part of the reason for the Vikings wanting to bring in viable competition is that supposedly, by midseason,
20:34they had to scale back the playbook as McCarthy was struggling to pick up the offense.
20:40Vikings starting quarterback in week one, J.J. McCarthy is fourth on the list behind Kyler, Kirk Cousins, and Tua.
20:48So, Vegas is also taking the field.
20:50Yeah, and he said that if they're having to scale back the playbook after he was, the only work he
20:56could do for a year was in the classroom, and he had not picked it up after a year and
21:00a half, that would make some sense why they would start panicking.
21:04I got sad news.
21:06What?
21:08I'm turning in my first question mark doubt card on my guy, KOC.
21:13Oh, really?
21:13Over J.J. McCarthy, who you don't even like?
21:16Not even J.J. McCarthy.
21:17It's that he wanted Rodgers.
21:19I'm reading that he wanted Aaron Rodgers.
21:22That's what Matthew Berry throws it here, too.
21:23Yeah, that was Matthew Berry, and I'm like, okay, if you think that last year you were going to win
21:27big or win a championship with Aaron Rodgers, I have to doubt your quarterback genius.
21:31I have to doubt your offensive genius.
21:34And you are already bailing on this kid who has all the physical talent this early.
21:41I got KOC a little bit.
21:43I don't like it.
21:44No, it's early.
21:46But, I mean, a lot of these teams are – we talked to Ron Slavin, the NFL agent, a couple
21:49days ago, and we asked him about it.
21:51He said it's just the NFL is impatient with quarterbacks, too impatient still.
21:55All right, so those are some of the notes from Matt Berry at the Combine.
21:57We'll finish them up in the red zone here on Sean and RJ.
22:00Check out carc !
22:01Check it out.
