00:00We just had a little birdie give us the latest on the Cowboys and Max Crosby,
00:04so we'll talk about that right here, then hand it off to a newsbag nation.
00:08Here's what we're looking at, boys.
00:10Cowboys are making a strong offer for Max Crosby.
00:14This might be a situation that gets resolved by the end of the weekend,
00:19and you're looking at the Cowboys offering the better of their two first-round picks this year,
00:26next year's two, and Osa.
00:30Pretty strong offer.
00:31I know that's Walchuk.
00:32That's what you've kind of been on.
00:33If there's going to be a player, Osa would be somebody that would make sense for sure,
00:39and that really ties in the Trey Wingo report of, hey, the Cowboys were offering a strong deal.
00:46Strong deal?
00:47That is a strong deal.
00:49If you're talking about, oh, we want to go get Max Crosby,
00:53that's not a half-ass offer of, hey, we want him, but we really want him on only our terms.
00:57That's an aggressive offer.
00:59If that's what it was, then that tells you that the Cowboys are serious about this,
01:04and my only guess would be that the Raiders are just, you know, maybe another team came in and was
01:10like,
01:10hey, well, you know, we're willing to maybe match something like that,
01:13or maybe it's the same picks, but another team came in with a different player.
01:17Like, okay, they're giving you Osa.
01:19We have another guy maybe who's on a rookie contract or something like that that might be a little bit
01:25more towards what the Raiders want to do,
01:28maybe a little bit of a cheaper guy or whatever.
01:30So that would be the only thing I could think of is like, why would the Raiders not have pulled
01:33that trigger if another team came in and said,
01:35okay, they got Osa, well, here's our player we're willing to give you,
01:39and now they're kind of thinking through it and then just going to wait out the weekend to see,
01:42does any team come super correct on an even better bid before they pull the trigger on it?
01:49But if that's the deal, then the Cowboys are offering, that's a strong offer.
01:53I think it's going to be the best offer.
01:55I think right now the wording I got was the Raiders are stalling to wait and see if they can
02:00find something better.
02:01And I think that if it gets to a certain point, then the Cowboys are going to say we're good
02:05here.
02:05And that's when you pivot to Trey Hendrickson, as Nick Harris has reported,
02:09or whoever else might be of interest to them.
02:11But, I mean, that makes a lot of sense.
02:13I mean, I had thrown out initially 20 in Osa.
02:1612 in Osa makes sense.
02:17But even throwing in the second rounder next year, like, to me, Vegas,
02:21if you can find something better than that, then good for you.
02:23I think the Cowboys are going to end up getting the deal done with that offer.
02:26It actually makes me feel better if the Eagles end up getting him because that means, wow,
02:30what the heck did the Eagles have to give up in that trade to be better than that?
02:36Right.
02:37I mean, if the Eagles are offering their one, which is late first round, and Jalen Carter,
02:42that'd be tough for the Raiders to evaluate.
02:46I think the Eagles might have a better offer,
02:48but they're just giving an all-pro player for an all-pro player.
02:51The Cowboys, I feel like if the Raiders do this for you,
02:54they'd be kind of doing you a favor taking Osa Odigizuwa's contract off of your books.
02:59Not that it was, you know, the worst contract the Cowboys have ever done,
03:02but it might be in the top five one year in.
03:05And he's not a perfect fit for this new style of defense that you want to play,
03:10especially if you want a physical guy who can help stop the run from that spot.
03:14You know, I think Osa at this point is redundant,
03:17and you free up $20 million of cap space if you move on from him.
03:21Yeah.
03:22And I think from the Raiders' perspective, the reason it's not a horrible idea for them
03:25is they have such little talent on their team,
03:29they're going to have a hard time hitting the salary floor.
03:32Right.
03:32So they need to bring money back.
03:34Yeah.
03:34Otherwise, they're going to be handing out contracts to complete bums
03:37that they're going to want to cut within a year or two.
03:39Yeah, that's the other interesting thing about the Raiders, which is a great point,
03:43is that they don't have enough talent on their roster that's making enough money
03:48to meet the floor, as you mentioned.
03:50So, like, they need to actually take on some money here.
03:53Yeah.
03:53And Osa would certainly help them do that.
03:55And they just need bodies at most positions.
03:58They do.
03:58Especially defensively.
04:00So, yeah, they could get some use out of Osa.
04:03And then you have pick one for Fernando Mendoza,
04:05and at 12 you can either take an offensive lineman if one slides there,
04:08or you're probably getting a great wide receiver.
04:11Yeah.
04:12Yeah.
04:12It really works well for both teams.
04:1512, next year's two, and Osa, that would be a master class of a trade
04:21because part of the issue with Max is his salary sitting at $35 million,
04:27but you can restructure that, bring it down to $7 million,
04:30and then parting with Osa, now you're seriously looking at maybe three $15 million players.
04:37You know, maybe a $25 million and $2 million, something like that.
04:42And that picture's starting to be slipped in the frame just a little bit more of, you know,
04:48Jerry being resourceful and aggressive and active, you know,
04:52and figuring out a way to borrow a significant amount of money of the future,
04:56not just to try to slide in, but to have a great team.
04:59Rod, if you like the idea of that, you're signing off on that, aren't you?
05:02No question?
05:03Yeah, I've just, I reached back out to Trey, and he had not heard that offer.
05:08So, he had not heard.
05:10Oh, really?
05:10Yeah, he had not heard that.
05:12So, he and I were just texting back and forth.
05:14I asked him, I said, hey, have you heard anything?
05:16I think maybe Trey's on the Raiders side of things.
05:19Don't know that for sure.
05:20Yeah.
05:21But I said, I just typed out what you guys just said, and to see what he said, he says,
05:28I had not heard that one.
05:29But you're making that trade?
05:30Oh, I'm thinking about that.
05:32Yeah, absolutely.
05:33Yeah.
05:33No problem.
05:34Okay.
