00:00Last Friday, which is exactly one week ago, Kevon Neptune, his common old wife Rosemary Brown, and six miners lost
00:09everything.
00:10It happened here at their home at Depot Road, Londonville.
00:14This room had all of their life's possessions. All of it was lost in the blaze.
00:20The family is now in dire need of support.
00:2335-year-old Neptune tells us he came home to the shocking news relayed to him by his partner.
00:29From home, what did you see? What did you find?
00:32Everything that burned down already, everything that burned down flat.
00:36What did she tell you?
00:37When they come up, they see smoke and everything busted in the room.
00:41When they come up, they see the whole place on fire.
00:43He says at the time of the incident, Brown was downstairs in a next-door structure by his mother with
00:49the children, who range from ages 3 to 15.
00:53Tell me, what are some of the things that you would have lost in the fire?
00:56All I'm trying to do is school, both clothes, tablet, laptop, bed, stove.
01:05Neptune, who has been supporting his family through farming with a relative for several years, is heartbroken.
01:11He says it means having to start all over again from what was initially a struggle to get where he
01:17was.
01:18With a lack of options available, he and his entire family are now forced to occupy the space where his
01:24mom lives, along with seven others.
01:26It's a total of 15 people, many of them minors, living in the small home.
01:31What about the space? Where are the children sleeping?
01:35Where are you sleeping?
01:36Downstairs in a room.
01:38In a room?
01:40So all of you are in one room or downstairs?
01:43Downstairs, yeah.
01:44Okay.
01:45Is your room bigger than this room?
01:47No, a little smaller.
01:48A little smaller than this room.
01:50And what amenities do you all have in the room?
01:55Nothing, nothing.
01:57Beds? You have beds?
01:58We have one bed.
01:59One bed?
02:00So how many people sleeping on that one bed?
02:02Just the chair and my time on that.
02:05And you sleep where?
02:06Inside the night here too.
02:08Huh?
02:08Inside the night, right next to it.
02:10On the floor or on the bed?
02:11Right next to them too.
02:12So all of you all sleep on one bed?
02:15Shortly after the fire occurred, they were rendered a bit of aid.
02:18I know that the disaster management unit and councillor, Brenda John, would have visited you all and would have given
02:26some supplies.
02:27What are some of the things that you would have received?
02:29Yeah, mattress, some food stuff, some blanket, pillows, you know what I'm saying?
02:34Yeah.
02:35Towels.
02:36But much more is needed as the family has approximately three months or less before they have a new addition
02:43to their family.
02:43With five of the six children attending school and an unborn baby along the way, this family is pleading with
02:51the public for any assistance that they can get that will help them to get their lives back to some
02:57type of normalcy.
02:58What type of assistance do you need?
03:00Food, clothes, you know, things to build baggy place, everything I take it back to start by.
03:08Appliances and everything?
03:09Appliances, bed, washing machine, fridge, and so on.
03:14Things are my baby.
03:16They also need to replace the children's school uniforms and books.
03:20If you wish to assist the family, you can reach them at 364-8365.
