00:00I am a true testament of a woman being able to step out and, you know, go beyond the limits.
00:07And I think beyond the limits speaks to that and speaks to my career and everything that I've achieved thus
00:12far.
00:13And I do believe that this is only a junction. I still have more to achieve.
00:18Forbes says the journey from national football captain to author and a public figure shows that women can accomplish when
00:26given opportunities to lead.
00:28Don't give up. I think women are breaking the threshold of, you know, what used to be happening in the
00:35past with history.
00:36And, you know, I am a testament and I do believe that if I could do it, then you can
00:41too.
00:41The sky's the limit is overplayed. There's no limit to what you can achieve.
00:46Now retired from international football after 15 years, Forbes says she remains committed to leadership beyond the field.
00:54She recently entered the political arena, contesting the Plymouth BlackRock seat in the January 12th Tobago House of Assembly election.
01:03So I take this opportunity here when I got into politics, you know, it really challenged me in a tremendous
01:10way.
01:10And I'm really happy that I made that decision, even though I wasn't successful.
01:14Just being in the position, right, to put forth myself, something that a lot of persons reach out to me
01:22and they did mention,
01:24hey, Karen, you know, by you going, gave us inspiration. And that for me is a win.
01:29Forbes says although she does not plan to contest the leadership of the PNM Tobago Council,
01:36she intends to remain involved in the party's executive as it works to rebuild in Tobago.
01:42And on this International Women's Day, she is encouraging women and girls to believe in their potential
01:49and to continue pushing beyond the limits placed before them.
