00:00man do i feel for shane lowry a guy here that i mean this was obviously his own doing but
00:05remember
00:06back 2022 where he nearly wins that golf tournament and then just gets hit with a
00:10deluge of rain on the 18th hole that changes the way he has to play that whole sep stroke goes
00:14on
00:14to win he has played i mean there was a stat here from the pga tour he's played better here
00:19than
00:20than you know probably anybody else oh yeah past four or five years he's at four top 11s he's at
00:24three top fives he's had that runner-up finish uh that you talked about um one that comes to mind
00:30was two years ago starts the day with a 54 hole lead have to come back on monday starts his
00:36day
00:36at the sixth hole austin eckroyd ends up winning um and then you go back to the year that sep
00:40stroka won and shane lowry sitting in the fairway gets hit by that rainstorm and didn't have enough
00:46to get to the green i actually was texting with sep on 16 he was it's funny sep had said
00:51uh i love
00:52this golf course i love watching this event and this is before sep had hit it or uh shane had
00:57hit it in the water and he's like people just don't realize how difficult these shots are
01:02coming down the stretch and you know he was applauding us just saying how difficult they
01:08were and then literally moments later shane lowry hits in the water on 16 right before i texted him
01:13saying that the only way shane isn't winning this golf tournament is if a storm doesn't roll through
01:18on him on 18 and obviously sep laughed but uh minutes later i just said oh my gosh and he
01:24said
01:24the same thing back he's like it's the bear trap man it it give us giveth and taketh well and
01:30i wonder
01:30just as we expand about the event at large of you know we saw a field this year we had
01:37we had an
01:37amazing and exciting finish which is which is fantastic for the event for the pga tour but there
01:43are we we watched we saw a number of names pull out of this event the last the last minute
01:47heading into
01:47this week and the field strength is you know this used to be i mean shoot i remember our second
01:52episode on the show hearing sam burnis tell a story about playing with tiger woods in this event you
01:56think about the stature this is held it should be event where you draw you know really the best in
02:01the world because so many of them live here in the area in jupiter and and surrounding areas and so
02:06i
02:07just wonder you know what you think about its place in the schedule and the difficulty it presents and i
02:13think explain to people you know i had so many people ask this week and why is it where it
02:17is
02:17and it's like well look at that florida swing you got to go play bay hill you got to go
02:21play tpc
02:22sawgrass you got to go play ennisbrook copperhead and then you're you're figuring out what you're
02:25going to do to tune up for the masters with two texas events and you're coming off a difficult you
02:29know west coast swing where the last two were signature events in pebble beach and rib and it's
02:34i feel like a lot of the the way this event has maybe suffered in terms of field quality or
02:39support is
02:40just due to its spot in the schedule i mean is there a path to sort of a revival because
02:44this i mean it was was scintillating you know really exciting go up and imagine if you have
02:49this with with a field that has some of the best players in the world in it yeah i think
02:53uh they've
02:55got a bunch of issues right like where it is on the schedule is the first spot but they've tried
03:00to
03:00attract people that live in this area pros that live in jupiter in the last couple years what they
03:06tried to do was to take the air out of the gym with a pga national and make it play
03:11easier and what
03:13they realized the pj tour realized is that it really didn't work it didn't really attract more
03:17guys to play and honestly it just strengthened the argument of we want to see pj national play the way
03:23that it should i think the fans spoke up at least and this year they tried to get back a
03:27little bit
03:27more to that blueprint uh maybe not quite as hard as it used to be but there were moments this
03:33week
03:33when the greens got crusty and firm and the rough was slightly up it was three inches and and uh
03:38uh got up to about four today and there were some spots where you know there were there were some
03:44bad lies but not nearly as bad as they used to be uh but enough to at least put some
03:49doubt in some
03:50players minds about hitting in the rough i still feel like the rough could be much more or you could
03:54go to the bermuda route
03:55you
