00:00shane lowry because there's obviously a lot of a lot of nerves a lot of stress going into
00:05coming down the stretch trying to win a signature event and in some ways the story of his year is
00:10similar to seps and that he's played a lot of really good golf you know consistently except
00:16he just hasn't hoisted a trophy at this year uh what do you make of shane's game i know you said
00:20you like him at royal port rush um obviously he's won the open championship there before
00:25about shane you said yeah yeah well i like him he had like a three shot three shot lead last time
00:31we were there heading into the last last day so i think it's hard not to like shane at oakmont too
00:37um dude it's it's incredible i thought he said something pretty interesting after one of his
00:44rounds uh just just talking about like how much improvement he's had in his game and just
00:50how he's a more patient player he's just he's just really good man shane's just a really really
00:56good golfer um this is a this was a perfect golf course for him because he just like sep uh they're
01:03very similar very very similar uh both drive it very straight um i would say that that shane plays
01:10more shots uh than than sep sep kind of just plays the same shot for the most part he'll change
01:15trajectories a little bit but he just kind of plays the draw every single shot uh well shane
01:20kind of move it around a little bit but he's got a he'll go to the fade more than anything that's
01:24kind of his go-to shot but he'll bring it down he can throw it up in the air i think his iron game
01:30um he's benefited more by courses for golf courses that play firmer so that he can get a little closer
01:37to the hole to where his iron games doesn't get quite as much up into the air but he's so accurate
01:42that he can hit his numbers and i mean if you look at his results this season only three times
01:49he finished outside the top 20 and mr farms insurance open he had a tied for 39th the genesis
01:54uh and a tied for 42nd at the masters but second at the 18t pro am seventh arnold palmer invitational
02:00tied for eighth the valspar and tied for second at the truest and then a handful of other top 20
02:06finishes good good i'm really really good around the greens i mean we kind of know that with shane
02:11how good he is with the 60 degree uh chipping and bunkering and then the work he's done with
02:15steven sweeney on his putting is it's really really solid it kind of let him down on sunday
02:20of course that three putt on 18 uh what do you make of that like i mean because it's the greens
02:25will chewed up inside what you need what you need to make like whether you need to really try to make
02:29a birdie or it was a tough putt the guys were uh i thought jim and trevor kind of uh set it up
02:35nicely for the people that weren't watching all day to kind of talk about how tricky that that
02:39little hole location was that it was a very unassuming front pin like it didn't look difficult
02:44but players were kind of struggling with the speed and under reading the putts there
02:47and he he knew he couldn't leave it short hammers it by but we kept on seeing some worm cams over
02:53the last like five or six holes with those lead groups and me walking on those greens on sunday too
02:58uh they were soft and guys that were wearing medals the things were pretty chewed up um and you could
03:05see that with some of the worm cams and i think it kind of got into maybe change that a little bit uh
03:10i know these guys can tap it down but um you're the last group of the day um maybe that had a little
03:16bit of an impact too
03:17you
