Around 300 officers have taken part in large-scale policing to disrupt organised crime and safeguard the community.

00:00Operation Vanguard brings together around 300 Merseyside police officers and staff
00:05to conduct coordinated action in an area to enable them to proactively target those involved
00:10in criminality and causing the most harm to that community. Targeting serious organised crime,
00:16domestic abuse, county lines and modern slavery amongst other offences.
00:21Officers will carry out land and underwater searches, roadside checks, safeguarding vulnerable
00:26residents, reassurance visits and patrols by local policing, matrix, licensing, firearms, mounted
00:32and dogs teams. 14 warrants were executed in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Anfield.
00:38Partnership work includes support from Liverpool City Council,
00:42North West Regional Organised Crime Unit and community engagement initiatives.
00:46The operation reinforces year-round enforcement, prevention and community confidence building
00:51strategies. Stop searches, arrests, seizures of weapons, drugs and cash and safeguarding referrals
00:58are part of ongoing action. Previous Evolve initiative work in Everton, Vauxhall and North
01:04Liverpool demonstrates measurable reductions in violence and property crime, increases in intelligence
01:09submissions and arrests for drug and weapon offences. Chief Constable Rob Carden states the
01:14operation shows contempt for criminality while supporting victims and law-abiding residents.

01:25multi-faceted approach to improving safety and quality of life in Merseyside.
